Bruch had this uniquely way of romantic melodies with a strict classical foundation. Take the start of the second movement for example, could be written by Beethoven. What I love about Bruch though is that he chooses his harmonies incredibly careful. They flow so seamless that they are almost unnoticeable. Nothing shocking, just pure german romanticism in it's highest form. To think that this has been written after WW I is really interesting. It's like a flower within the technical and metallic structures in the music world of that time. (I know, there continued to be written many more romantic pieces during that time, but this is one of the purest)
I was pleased to come across this work and really enjoyed listening to it, with manuscript. It's a shame that such a fine performance was not attributed to the artists in the first place, since the performance information link is now broken (account closed). Any chance that this information can be restored here?

Almost forgot to add that this performance is phenomenal
try the last few saint-saens sonatas then, they are similar
Unusual octet in that there's a Double Bass playing in the ensemble which is a real asset.
