They all need refoamed. Got 1 on "offerup" $30. Got a Parts Express #260-930 12" surround repair kit. Only way I was able to become a JL owner. Sounds good for less $50 sub.

I have a 13.5 w7 and the dust cap popped off 🙄 I’ve been searching RUclips and watching videos to find what type of glue I need. Do you have any recommendations?
As long as you rough up the services you can use regular CA but you can also use e6000 from the craft store or from Walmart

Junk. The cone popped off of the coil topper.
Smooth plastic has nothing for the glue to bite onto on the cone where it meets the bobbin former....

I have an older 12" JL W7 with the old foam surround. The foam surround is not in too rough of shape. However I would like to use something to condition & revitalize the foam. What would you recommend? And how much is it to replace that surround? Thanks

I just bought a JL W7 13.5" anniversary addition and have it mounted to a 2.5 cubic ft slot ported Atrend 1" thick enclosure that's going into the back seat of my 07 Tacoma Tacoma extra cab. I'm powering it with a Orion 2400 watt RMS, 5000 watt peek amplifier with a second battery and 3.5 farad capacitor. I'm doing all zero gauge CCA wire & I'm doing the under the hood big 3 wire upgrades. My taco's alternator puts out 130 amps. What do you recommend I do to maximize the overall performance of this subwoofer?
Get a different sub...there is better subs than JL'S😂..is just people making JL audio a big company overpricing the subs and amps...but as I said there is better companies than JL Audio.
JL makes good subs, just expensive for what you get IMO, gonna need more amps so bigger/another alt and battery bank should do ya fine
@@juandeloya4983 well I just bought it brand new anniversary addition 13.5" isn't a usual sized sub. JL makes very unique surrounds with their over sized to rim edge surrounds & patented clamp ring sealed system. I have an older 12" as well so I'm stoked to try this out.
@@thatdude8247 you say I need a more powerful amp than the Orion 2500 watt RMS I'm pushing the 13.5" already? As far as I know the subs operating power rates are between 500 & 1500 watts RMS. My alternator puts out 130 amps at 2200 rpm and I have a second 12 volt battery and a 3.5 farad capacitor strapped to the amp with the big 3 zero gauge power & grounds wire upgrades. I was told by my professional installers that's more than enough to supply the amplifier with power as well as more than enough wattage from the amp to power the sub??? It's mounted to a 2.5 cube slot ported enclosure built all in 1" MDF
@@darrenbaillie98 I understand,you have to play with what you got ..I ended to change JL to Image Dinamics IDMAX little cheaper than JL but I don't regret it sounds way better and the 2 12 I bought still playing 20 years later.I got the new version of IDMAX(as a gift from my son) I'm waiting till the old ones give up..I power them with focal 3000fps amp.

Hey patrick, i have a question, does stuffing two punch hx2 15's in a 170 vented box make any sense because their vas is like 200l, through winisd i noticed its best to put them in a sealed box or just free air the shit out of them
Those are right in between they do well in either sealed or ported. They do get a nice boost in ported though at about 3:00 to 4 cubic foot per sub

@@RobotUnderground oh yea and also, im considering using pa/cabinet speakers for mid bass, they seem to check all the boxes, fs under 50, qts of 0.5 and above, big vas numbers, kinda dont want to overload my doors with boxes and or speakers to gain a nasty peak somewhere if i dont need to
