Rearrange the letters in "Clint Eastwood", and you get "Old West Action". Nobody makes a Western better than Clint.
Ha, I think it actually does. Nice anagram lesson for the day.
Brilliant anagram!
Well whaddya know
Sean Connery, on any screen
Way to much time on your hands. Get a life.
In my opinion; Unforgiven is THE best western. Not of Clint's but of all western movies.
I second that.
@Suicidal Vet The next SOB that says 'second' is going to get a second bullet, and a first. Now shut up and pour that whiskey!
It's great, but don't forget Tombstone! :P
@@T.R.U.T.H.. There is a lot of drinkin' an' shootin' in that one.
@@T.R.U.T.H.. Tombstone, although a great movie is too reliant on real life events to make it the best imo. I much enjoy an original stories and Unforgiven is no doubt one of the most originals Westerns ever made.
It's been my favorite movie since I first saw it. And I'll venture a guess that I've watched it at least 25 times. It never gets old. Every character is a perfect fit.
All class all the time.
We absolutely love Clint Eastwood ⭐️
I watch a lot of movies. A lot of movies. Can't stress that point enough. Unforgiven may be the best.
Clint told a nice story. Every second I listened very attentively.
I love this movie for the fact that there is no "good guy" in the entire film, just lesser degrees of evil. I mean the closest thing I guess would be Little Bill, and even he had a shady history.
Wait little bill is the good guy? Lol. He was the bad guy.
Hell, I liked Munny more than Little Bill.
Little Bill was an unrepentant power mad bastard.
Bill was brutal but he had some kind of a code. He killed killers and beat the crap out of men who broke the rules about carrying guns into town but he also looked down on Munny and English Bob for killing unarmed men. You can see how, from his perspective, he didn't think he deserved to die - even if we as the audience feel he got what he deserved.
What are you talking about, kid? Bill was 100% the good guy- stop falling for the appeal of narrative.
Unforgiven is one of the best western movies ever, Clint is one of my favorites acto, him and that western are already legends!
I'll say it again
Watched every Western worth watch'n
Eastwood is the Godfather of Westerns
He only seeks to replicate the fundamental truths of human nature in his films
& this is the best god damn Western ever made - period!
Some refer to Steve McQueen as “the king of cool” and they have a point but Clint is right up there.
I knew the lads who did the stunt climbing on “The Eiger Sanction” and they adored Clint.
I watched Unforgiven a dozen of times and i figured a few things. i think Unforgiven wants to give the message to the audience that we all strive to do what is right from our perspective, and theres nothing wrong with that, its great working towards our goals and beliefs. sometimes you have to directly and indirectly hurt others to stay at the top or otherwise you will sink and rot. sometimes you have to take risks even if those risks are just money, beause money gives you choices you didnt previously have. little bill wanted to maintain order in his town rightfully so, william money wanted revenge for his best friend, and ned needed the money. all of their goals are within the norm and they have nothing bad within them. but sometimes life brings you in weird and unexpected situations where its you or them and all of us would pick our selves. its times like this where is hard to tell if youre the villain or the hero, but maybe there are no villains and heroes after all. at the end of the day we ar ehuman beings who strive to live a better life and sometimes life brings us the unexpcted and we have a major choice, us or them. thats why i believe unforgiven represents all the protagonists in the film instead of one.
Not quite brevity but still soulful wit
Not just the best western Eastwood ever made, but the best damn western ever.
To even achieve what this man has. Bless. Tk you Sir.
A true not just Western Icon but a movie Icon.
Unforgiven is the KING of all Westerns!!!!!! It's my all-time favorite Eastwood film!!! Unforgiven is on my Top 10 Best Picture Winners along with Schindler's List, The Sound of Music, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and Ben-Hur!
you better bury ned right or ill come back and burn all your houses down full out mean only clint could pull that off and then some people found it offensive but after all it was the ol west and he nailed the whole thing in a nutshell although tombstone comes in as my fav second i do not think hollywood from day one just exactly what they had with clint all time fav will watch any eastwood movie over again several times cause cha cant get just what the message was the first time my hero for sure
and we in alberta don't think you're too old to come back and do another, clint - cheers
Unforgiven is one of my favourite movies
Not only is "The Unforgiven" the best western ive ever seen but maybe the best film ive ever seen. I have seen many movies ranging from all era's and genre's and the unforgiven pinpoints many details that many movies lack. The realism, acting, emotions, story, and characters are incredible. The amazing thing is how well the movie was done Clint turns into the villain by the end of the movie. An excellent direction and acting by Clint as usual. truly one the best actors of all time.
Clint Eastwood has been in some great westerns...
I'd put Unforgiven right at the top of that list. thanks Clint
I love most of Eastwood westerns. The Dollar films were great, and so iconic. The Outlaw Josey Wales is probably my favorite. Pale Rider was damn good to
"For a Few Dollars More" is also my favorite among the Leone-Eastwood collaborations, although all three of those films are fabulous. Still, I think that Eastwood's three best Westerns are three that he directed: "High Plains Drifter" (1973), "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (1976), and "Unforgiven" (1992). "Pale Rider" (1985) is worthwhile, too, but not as brilliant as those others.
yes, very true!
Great movie 'unforgiven',but 'the outlaw Josey wales' is the best Western I've ever seen
The Great Clint Eastwood!!! Thank you for making great movies!
Waiting till he's a senior citizen to make *Unforgiven* Clint RULES
🏆🏆🏆🏆
Clint, you will never be too old to do anything!
It's a good movie but I think "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" is my favorite Clint Eastwood western
That's not his, just acted in it.
I sure agree! ❤
I don’t like it as much. Leone always turns me off why his stylized aesthetic
I LOVE YOU CLINT EASTWOOD
YOU SOUND LIKE KELLIE PICKLER
love clint
A Masterpiece. Thank you, Mr. Eastwood.
Thank U Mr. Eastwood I are AMAZINGLY BLESSED LOVE him
i absolutely love unforgiven! seen the movie 6 times still not tired of it
Simply the best… A remarkable, remarkable man.
Further the story, characters and other things que could say and see about the picture, the beauty of the theme song is something almost intangible . "Claudia's Theme " is a plenty of sweet and romantics ,showed most of all when the chords involve ev'rything ,our minds, thoughts, soul and concludes with a light strum on guitar ... incredible ...
Class act. Old Hollywood here. Showing appreciation for the sponsor. Not forgetting common courtesy.
one of the greatest films in 50 years, and the top 5 all time westerns....
incredible story, one of my favorites, very complex character interrelationships. masterfully plotted, great casting, acting and direction and TONS of incredible quotes. I love the old spaghetti westerns but Unforgiven is such a confident and well paced movie, and hits on so many levels, it exposes the hypocrisy of america at the time and shows the ugly underbelly of movie violence... a very high skill movie. I don't know why i dont OWN it yet!
My favourite of Clints many fine movies.
ROFL, I never thought I'd hear Clint Eastwood talking about going to a Target store.
_Unforgiven_ is the _Godfather_ of westerns.
My all time favourite film.
Not only is this movie one of the top westerns ever made, it's one of the top movies ever made. I think a lot of people will agree with me on this.
the best
I remember hearing about this movie being shot somewhere near Calgary, Alberta where we lived in the fall of 1991, I believe it was, and knowing that it was a Clint Eastwood film. The weather that year was awfully cold, and I remember thinking how those guys could shoot an outdoor movie under those conditions? Years later they filmed the Revenant in the Bragg Creek and Morley area west of town in the winter and it was so cold some of the crew quit. And I didn't blame them.
class
Unforgiven is a great film.
Unforgiven is, quite simply, the greatest movie ever made.
Yes it is the best one
Best line " I don't deserve this .I was building a house "
"Deserves got nothin' to do with it."
Unforgiven is my top three movies of all time, post 1990
Unforgiven
Sideways
Mr. Hollands opus.
All get better with more viewings.
WE ALL GOT IT COMING ,KID
Pale Rider was his best Western, but I think Unforgiven had the most powerful message.
helluva movie
yeah he kind of does
What about best end scene of all time. Gene Hackman and town posse plan to follow him all the to Texas if they have to.
Next shot is Clint Eastwood shotgun. He came to them. Ballsy.
"Who's the owner of this shit hole?"
Kills him. "If he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend he should've armed himself."
Kuriousity89, close! but The Outlaw Josey Whales is in there too. Out of Man With No Name, fav is For A Few Dollars More.
Actually, I kind of like the title of "Whores Gold". It also fits the script because everything that occurs from the cutting on was because of it.
Gran Torino is graet!!!
@ultragroove1 Let me guess...
1. The Man With No Name trilogy movie A.
2. The Man With No Name trilogy movie B.
3. The Man With No Name trilogy movie C.
4. Once Upon A Time In The West
5. Unforgiven?
@Ferom79 Unforgiven is better than Once Upon A Time In The West.
The point of Unforgiven was that there was no "good" and there was no "bad"; there just "was".
@SkipperQ
The best movie ever made is "7 Samurai" made 1950s. IMHO.
the dollars trilogy. then unforgiven. easy.
David Peoples did the script for Blade Runner!
@TELEVISIONARCHIVES I was not a "nice" western. It was not supposed to be. It was more about the choices people make, how they get to where they are in life and about answering for their mistakes. The real people of the old west were tough, gritty and not at all polished as many movies would make you think. This was a great movie because it was realistic and well acted. Most of the main characters did bad things. The movie intended to reveal the ugliness, not glamorize it.
@Ferom79 Just trying to make your day haha. Of course nobody can top Sergio Leone when it comes to westerns.
OOOhhh.... Contraversial.... Now as for the holy trinity I loved For a few dollars more, but I also think Unforgiven trounced all three.
How many marshalls did William killed in unforgiving I forgot
LOL! Targèt!
I got clincal depression after Unforgiven
@SkipperQ naw the best western is The Good The Bad and The Ugly
I want to like Unforgiven, but I don't. As a technical achievement, it's superb. Other than that, somebody has to tell me what's good about it.
David Peoples reportedly wrote it after watching Taxi Driver. He wanted to explore the psychological impact of taking another human life (something which is barely considered in most westerns). This idea is explored in several ways; Munny, who seemingly killed without mercy because of alcohol - for which he feels deep regret, Bob (and the writer), who seems to enjoy the fantasy of his reputation (and yet is actually a coward), the kid, who seems to idolise this lifestyle, but later realises the gravity of what he did, and Bill, a vicious bully, who seems to think he is justified in his killing. Not to mention the women, who put a price on the guy who attacked them, as revenge. Many "innocent" (or at least unrelated) people pay with their lives because of this decision.
The writing gives each of these characters their own motivations and points of view, all equally justifiable. The kid perhaps encompasses the audience's love for violence and retribution in action and especially westerns, so we might argue this movie transcends the genre, and subverts it in subtle ways. There's also the irony that Munny goes along with the job because of the exaggerated brutality the kid has heard about what happened to the woman that was attacked. Another example of subversion is the death of Ned, which occurs off screen.
Aside from these ideas, the dialogue is at times equal parts witty and profound, as Eastwood plays on the roles he had in the past. There are twists and turns that keep the story progressing, with an ending that is inevitable, but not predictable or cliched. Not to mention an all star cast.
What more would like a movie to do?
Bad hair day clint
Outlaw JOSIE Wales is just as good ? 👍
"Unforgiven", was a very good movie. But I think Sergio Leone's "Once upon Time in The West", of ; was even much better.
Anybody want a free one?
@SkipperQ villain ? nah.
deserve has got nothing to do with it
fake
