I am glad when animation/everything-nodes and mantaflow integration are in. Then we can finally start creating full on tutorials again knowing that these don't change anymore. Great job everyone involved!
So excited to hears this news! I've been busy using Blender 2.8 at my job in the Broadcast world. EEVEE has been extremely useful in pumping out high quality animations in insanely tight deadlines to the point we have been dropping Cinema4D in favor of using Blender 2.8 full time. Props to all the developers hard work and look forward to final release. My only request, if you can get per object motion blur working in Eevee, that would be awesome! :)
Will you guys ever make a VR interface for Blender? It would be awesome to be able to make VR animations like those made with Quill or ANIMVR but with all the powerful tools of Blender.
Blender already supports stereoscopic and panoramic rendering; I'm not sure what file formats are available for VR, but certainly it should already be possible to render images and animations for playback on VR. I can't speak for the devs, but it's hard to imagine how realtime rendering of scenes directly to a VR headset would be integrated into Blender's main modelling and animation interface. It does seem like the kind of feature that the Blender Game Engine might have provided, but that appears to be something of an orphan feature since it's been dropped entirely from 2.8.
@@Confuseddave I think Eevee can do it. It would simply require a somewhat beefy computer. The only thing i think is missing an Add-on or something to connect a VR set with Blender, with a specialized UI for that. And it seems the guys at Marui are working on it.
I wouldn't mind an extended beta with things breaking occasionally if it means getting more of this lightning-fast progress. :) Then again I'm not familiar with software development to know the implications of the 2.80 release. Shoutout to Howard T. for his wonderful work on the bevel modifier, which is getting a lot of love recently.
Very excited for this release! I've been using the experimental version for a while and enjoying the changes! I'm also curious if anyone else can't help but stare at the leading lines of his mustache guiding us, the viewers, right into his nostrils or is that just me?
Hi Pablo, what is the status of "fully" OpenVDB integration right now or future plans? ¿Cual es el estado actual de la integración completa de OpenVDB en Blender o que planes a futuro hay? Gracias. Magnífico trabajo.
Hi, I would like to start using 2.8 but I'm worried about keyboards shortcuts changing. Is it likely that video sequencer shortcuts will still change before 2.8-stable?
Hi! I think I've mentioned in some other comments, but an easy feature I think will improve blender, specially for non artistic uses, could be a 3D cursor based coordinates system, an interface like we have local and global, so you can work in a pseudo parametric way. This will allow to easily put object or vertex in relation to others (for example I need to put an object a fixed distance from a wall), you snap cursor and then enter distance relative to cursor.
Is there work being done on general performance? Mainly with many shaders or highpoly scenes? That's my biggest issue right now. Had some major lag/delays with undo and other operations if the scene gets a bit dense. Same scene was fine in 3ds max, but very laggy in blender.
While you are at it, please make an option for array modifier to add elements in both directions at the same time. I'm kinda lazy to post idea on a forum.
Please guys, just do not forget about Cycles. As much as I like to use Eevee for some commercial production, Cycles is and always will be much superior renderer and it is definitely THE render engine for my art projects. Please, do something about RTX implementation so we can render faster the best visual quality possible. That is my greatest wish right now when it comes to Blender. Many thanks for your incredible work so far!
Cycles is getting a lot of updates for 2.80, it's much faster than 2.79 and it's getting even faster now with a developer working full-time on OpenCL optimizations.
Is the glass in eevee going to be fixed so it can have translucenavy and ior? Or is it not possible? In the game smash by mediocre it csn render glass with full on translucency and ior
dear Dev team, make please new version of Blender 2.8 run with older hardware that supports lower than 3.0 ver OpenGL. Would be so helpful for those who have old stuff but want to learn and work with new version of Blender. You might limit some functionality for that reason if its not possible deliver all that for this case. thanks much and hope for some upcoming news and updates soon dev team !

Pablo made a video about that a few weeks ago, and made the point that a number of the newly introduced features aren't sufficiently developed to merit a jump up to 3.0, which would carry implications that the newer features are much more developed.
Blender 2.8 is absolutely wonderful. Everything about it amazes me! There's just ONE thing that really bothers me about it... the name. 2.8?! This update is so massive that it definitely should have been called Blender 3.0. Truly the only thing you guys messed up... A part of me still hopes that this gets fixed before the release...
Hopefully the Child of Constraints will be fixed in 2.8 because that would make life easier without the need to reposition the objects every time you do something with the object. Its a nightmare when it comes to using it.
For me, Blender 2.8 without a game engine is like a brand new car without wheels. But unfortunately Blender Foundation doesn't seems to care about it anymore.
Actually I am surprised at how stable 2.8 has been for me so far. maybe it's because the type of work that I do is not too demanding, even though I work with very heavy models and rigs, but I have found myself refusing to open 2.9 ever since i started testing 2.8. there are tools and features that I can't simply live without at this point. 2.79 is dead to me now lol. Sorry! :|

After 2.80, they'll go back to a quarterly release schedule. So it's good to get it done and then build on top.
You can just download the 2.81 Nightlies and expect a bunch of static override based features.
