Yes, it was the most amazing good bye I've ever seen. The bye with the helicopter at Aogashima broke my heart too ... but this ... was hard. And beautiful. The warmth here is real.
ONLY in JAPAN I think Kanae San would love Ogasawara. Will you take her there anytime soon? Looks like a nice romantic place for couples. You don’t have to film it for us. I’m eagerly waiting for the dolphin and shark videos, I also thought I’d see the man and his ‘pet’ stingrays in this video. That was so cool. I also loved your Aogashima episodes and live-streams. It’s there in the list of places I need to visit that I write down after watching your videos lol. Also will you be visiting only Mumbai during your visit to India?
You can really feel all the emotions at the end. What a great video, and a high quality production like always. Thanks and try not to worry too much about the RUclips stuff!
I cried with that warming, kind and friendly farewell. It really seemed like they are leaving family behind. You come as a guest, and leave as a family.
Oh my God!!!!! I have no words to describe the awesomeness of the video. Its sooooo good. I have watched all your videos but this is by far the best.Absolute genius. Booking my ferry. John you have now increased my expectations from you so keep up you hard work.
Just found this story. I was on Chichijima in 1958. Only US Navy CB's and a few natives. All wood buildings and no paved roads. The Navy personnel were allowed to bring their dependents after they built housing for them. One very small PX, ran by native woman and an outdoor movie screen. Enjoyed your presentation and looking forward to others.
George Stone I am working on a scuba diving episode of Chichijima right now! Miss my friends from the island. Thank you for sharing a little of the history from before the handover in ‘68! I had to dig a lot to find what I did and I really want to preserve as much of it. We found an all copper enclosed room inside the mountain (entrance on the back side of hill through the tunnel from the port). I wonder if you know what that was used for? It’s well hidden and a real mystery.
The tunnel and a lot of the caves were closed and fenced off. There was still a lot of weapons and ammo that had not been retreived by ODT. I don't knoe when it was cleared. I was aboard a salvage ship that had rescued an LST off of Ewojima. We brought it to Chichijima for repair, since it had a protected harbor.
George Stone interesting! One of the locals living in the back side of the mountain (other side of the runner from the port) took me inside the mountain where there is a copper room! We’ve no idea what it is but made me wonder what such a room was for. The island has some many stories and so many mysteries! Looking forward to going back again maybe in 2020!
I literally got teary eyed during the send off by the islanders. 😭😭😭 I’m going to Okinawa this December coz my sister and her husband are stationed there and will be leaving in April, but my next Japan island visit will definitely be in Ogasawara. The people are so lovely and warm 😭 I’m so emotional atm I can’t 😭
pinkywinky222 nice! But to be honest, Okinawa is nothing like the main land of Japan and are your sister and her husband Air Force, and I ask this because most Air Force people go to Okinawa
You can see the love and attention given to the video. Glad to have contributed a little part in your experience John! May more people experience Ogasawara!
Thanks for joining me on the trip here and in the live streams when I was actually on the island. We've come full circle :) ready to go back again now!!
In Ogasawara, there is a dance called Nanyo Odori, which was introduced from Oceania. Watching this dance, which is registered as an intangible cultural heritage of Tokyo, makes you feel as if you are in Micronesia.
I got so emotional towards the end, I shed a few tears. That Island is a beautiful place, I definitely plan to go there in the future with my friends, or by myself.
Seriously makes me want to visit Japan even more! I don't know whether it's the Celt in me, but seeing all the respect for nature and the loving goodbyes and welcomes just touches this Pagen's heart ;W:
Woah! Watched the Strange Parts video, saw that this will mess up your video and changed to simply PUBLIC - I will do a live stream on ONLY in JAPAN GO now about this. Sorry for that - john
A wonderful piece of work John. Love it when you truly venture to the farthest corners of Japan not many tourists can reach. With such a grand welcome it doesn't resemble regular Japan at all. Great snippets of history and wonderful scenery make me start to think ahead to when I can get over there but oh man I know facing that mass farewell would make my heart melt. Congrats John, another Ace!
This channel is so amazing! i can't believe it doesn't have more subs and views. it's so well produced with amazing interesting facts. Makes me want to go to Japan. what lovely island and wonderful people.

Really, I love Japanese people, they are so kindness & polite on the earth 🌍! God bless Japanese people from Nepal 🇳🇵! Love & respect a lot from our heart ♥️!
Absolutely wonderful work John!!! This video felt so surreal seeing the remnants of war and all the beauty and people that has managed to thrive! Good Job as well for making me tear up at that ending..

Hi John and congrats for your beautiful report. Been following you from France since a long time ago, and it is a pleasure to see how you improved the quality of your reports. Well shooted/framed, good video editing, good balance between written & spontaneous/live speech, great music choice in accordance with the topic (eg: music chosen when speaking about japanese air raid shelter.. well it works so great !) :), the feeling to have a 360° overview of the place you visited and so on.. Amazing guy doing an amazing work within an amazing country ; you make me travel from my sofa, encourage me to catch my dreams, and thank you for that.

I also felt like leaving family behind... sitting in a room 10000 km away.
Awesome video John!

Good choice turning off Premiere! Use it only for smaller videos (where you don't care about ads/views).
Good choice. i'm sure everyone will understand. Maybe when RUclips irons out the kinks, the premiere feature will have a lot of potential.
That's very cool!
