Hey Kelly. This is great. I had a real light bulb over the head moment. I’m on the first 2 levels and that’s ok for now. I was being too hard on myself for not being too advanced and was trying to rush it. The upper levels are fun. But I like playing along with you on the simpler part and I will get there 🙂
That is the absolute best way to advance! It makes it way more fun and that's what keeps you going - to the point where you improve. In martial arts we tell the students that a black belt is just a white belt that kept showing up - there's a lot of truth in that. Make it enjoyable first and a lot of the rest will happen naturally. Glad you're having fun!! Kelly
Great fun to play, Kelly. And a great review of strum patterns and accents. Gee, back in Hank's day, 2 dollars was enough to go out on a date. Times have really changed. A big thank you.
I just love this song! I am on level one of the condo and I really appreciate your teaching style and motivation. I think I can do this! Thanks, Kelly!
Thanks. This is one of my favorite songs to play. Simple and fun. I really like all these great ideas to vary things up. I need to spend time working on the hammer on so that I can move up to the 3rd floor. How many floors on this condo, BTW? ;-)
Hey Lucy! I'm not sure...every time we think we're about to move into the penthouse somebody seems to add another darn floor! Glad you enjoyed it! Kelly
Hey Bruce! How you keeping? If you want to learn the double strum (the one that goes up and down with the thumb and the first finger) here's a link to where I did a video just in that. It's a fun strum for sure. ruclips.net/video/B1-5b3vsjfA/видео.htmlsi=Ez0m1Nfe55r7DeSd
I also love this song. After learning the Island Strum, the Cowboy strum & the Bouncy strum, I thought I had accomplished a lot in my 14 months of ukulele. But, to my embarrassment, I still reside on the first floor of your Ukulele Condo. I'll keep working. Question: Is the Paintbrush strum good to use on "Me & Bobbie Mcgee"
Hey Phyllis! Be proud if you've accomplished all of that in just 14 months! (Embarrassment is for other people to worry about! 😊) Paintbrush would work well for Bobbie McGee. Here's a link to a really early video I did of that song. You can see that's pretty much what I used for a lot of it. Feel free to play along to the video and try it out! ruclips.net/video/GD8Vz2f_a50/видео.htmlsi=wb1ym08P3pIglhTx
@@Mr.Framework hey Roan! I'm so pleased you're enjoying the uke! It sure is a nice looking instrument. Once your daughter gets a hold of it you may lose it!! Check out our Facebook group too if you like - The Four String Strummers - really nice group of positive people from all over. Kelly
Hi there! Welcome! A lot of the songs you'll see on this channel are fairly simple 3 chord songs. There are some like Red River Valley, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys, Paradise etc that are also written to be played at a slower pace. They would be good ones to start with. Now if you find that you're still at the stage where they may be a little bit quick for you, go to the settings icon (looks like a little gear) in the corner of the screen and click on it. Then choose "playback speed" - you can slow down the speed as much as you like until you're comfortable. As you build up your speed you can turn up the play back speed a bit more. Ie 50% to start, then move it to 60% etc. Hope this helps!! Kelly

Love this song! Even the strumming is fun!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It's an old favourite of mine!!
And the more I look at your blue banjo I want one 😂. But I have bought my ukulele for the year !

@@fourstringstrummer Thanks. I have seen your video of "Me & Bobbie McGee." I liked the sound you got from strumming, but did not know what it is.
@@phyllismorris94 perfect - I used mostly paintbrush with a "side order" of sledgehammer every once in a while.
Fantastic tutorial
