The Calamity Mod is a large content mod for Terraria which adds many hours of endgame content and dozens of enemies and bosses dispersed throughout the vanilla game's progression. I like how realmsoul’s first slashing attacks are synced with the music. Also, his theme reminds me of the song called Xtrullor - Samsara

A lot of these, mainly Realmsoul Wizard, look more annoyingly spammy than interesting or difficult.

Most attack are really good and fair
(Except one but its because the telegraph is really Bad and doesn't represent the hitbox at all)
Its a really fun and fair fight, prob one of the best fight in tmod imo
@@olixx1213 Replying 8 months later to say that I have now played the mod and can confirm that it's worse than I thought & has many poorly designed if not borderline unfair attacks among other design decisions
@@Shyguymask A lot of the bosses aren't that great , usually because of 2-3 attacks
But realmsoul and the New boss(Thunder demon I think?) are really good
@@olixx1213 What is so good about realmsoul and other bosses? Bullet hell micrododging in Terraria is bad & not compatible with its gameplay, and timed-reactive-damage-reduction (whatever it's called precisely) is an awful mechanic to be frank.
@@Shyguymask micrododging can work pretty well in terraria , just look at mutant (besides realmsoul isn't that bullet hell)
And the DPS cap here works fine , since it's a survival boss based on the music(and it's a nécessity for those type of bosses)
It's doesn't have the same purpose that malice reactive DR had)
I downloaded that mod before this video, I immediately uninstalled it when I saw how terrible they look in the boss checklist
but probably gonna install it back since the fights looks awesome

Everything about this mod is BEYOND incredible... except for the sprites, they're abysmal recolours at best... how do you make a mod like this, but not be able to even just talk an artist into spiriting for you? If I could get in contact with the devs of this I'd be honored to add sprites for something as amazingly well put together as this...

Realmsoul Wizard seems like a blend of Empress of Light's projectiles with Thorium's Ragnarok's environmental visuals, and MEAC's Empress of Light rework's rhythmic attack timing in Phase 1. Phase 2 is alot more like Fargo's Souls Mod's boss fights, what with the attack ring preventing you from running and all.

I love how the Chinese Terraria player base is pushing the boundaries on the visuals for the game, though I don’t really like the emphasis on bosses that look and feel hard to an unfair degree.
It’s still real cool though.
This mod remind me of the game just shape and beats, the moment that make you realize that all you can do is dodge all the bullet attack and do nothing to the actual boss

This is a question for anyone who has any experience with modding tools in terraria. Is it possible to sync up the music with player/boss actions? I believe games like DOOM and DMC do this and it's really good, it makes you feel good because of the sync and makes the fights overall epic
What you're prob looking for is a dynamic theme

I've said this before on a different video covering the same mod, but I'm not that big of a fan of mods whose bosses are visibly just modifications of things that already exist in vanilla. Even if you make a shit ton of changes to them which functionally make them a different boss entirely, I really think entirely new bosses made from scratch are what make modded Terraria such a joy to play.
I agree visually. I always find the Fargo souls bosses underwhelming and not that cool because they just look like a player that they smacked random vanity onto. I much prefer calamity or thorium bosses visually

@@philipholst4101 Bruh, Calamity is one of the worst offenders in terms of bosses that are literally just vanilla ones with modifications on them. I don't think there's a single boss in that mod which is completely unique.

@@paracame8162 Exo mechs are conceptually based on the mech bosses; specifically, the mecha mayhem event.
Supreme calamitas is actually based on the twins, as per her non-supreme counterpart. It's only quite recently she's gotten a visual makeover.
Storm weaver is 'generic worm boss number 216'.
Providence and profaned guardians aren't exactly a unique concept either; though I will admit it's not something from Terraria, it's directly based off the radiance from hollow knight. It doesn't help that they retroactively gave it some changes that make it an empress of light-like.
Crabulon has an incredibly similar AI to astrum deus, which is, itself, based on king slime.
Though not wholly apparent now, taking a look at the old Leviathan sprite will quickly reveal it's based on Duke Fishron.
That narrows it down to a total of, what, 3 bosses in the mod that were made from scratch? Out of 27?

Cool boss fight. I still don't like the lackluster of some boss fights coz it's just touhou. There's not enough feeling of intent to kill the player. Just random projectiles in hope it hits the player

sorry! more big changes are coming so I had to postpone (will be released eventually!) The actual update will not be out for a while...as tmod is still not updated to 1.4.4
It's all fun and game until the mod have a seizure warning. I know these people put a lot of their times and effort in these mods and i respect them, but i can't really see the appeal of getting flashbang-ed every time i fight a boss.

The reason calamity works but this doesn't is because this is too far from terraria. It almost feels like in this day and age mod makers are using cool graphics as a crutch for not being able to properly capture the essence of terraria in their content. The calamity bosses can be cool and chaotic while still sticking to the terraria feel which is what makes them so special.
Calamity works because it's popular and have a free pass for do anythings

They made things look really good in terms of pixel art, yeah, but then you need a resource pack so the vanilla content doesn't feel out of place as you go through the content. And god forbid, you have other content mods thatdon't specifically have calamity compatability and scaling, because if they don't, their content just gets dumpstered by raw stats because Calamity decided to be that one special kid who needs all of the attention.
im not a big fan of mods like this and fargos souls, simply because most of the bosses and their attacks are just reskined or reused sprites from vanilla. Sure, the visuals look cool and all, but i cant unsee the fact that these sprites are just reskins. It just looks kind of lazy in my eyes despite the cool looking visuals.
I'd also like to say that visuals arent the only thing that make a boss good. I've seen way too many people hating on bosses simply because they dont have stunning visuals like this and many other mods now have. imo, mod devs should focus on making a fun and challenging boss before flashy lights.
despite what i said, there is one other thing i like about this mod that isnt just the visuals: the edition of an extra difficulty mode. it's something that i wish more content mods would do, but sadly that isnt the case. Maybe more content mods will add difficulty modes as time goes on.
A lot of these mods are seemingly coming from like japanese modders or someone who happens to be of asian descent. And all of them are really good. We should honestly thank them for these.

GODDAMN CHINESE AND THEIR BULLET HELLS, can't even have a great mod by the chinese that outclasses a pretty big majority of mods, without having to play a bullet hell or have a major difficulty spike along with it..
also, a shame the mod only has bosses and no reward for beating them, then again, its a wip so.
Yeah I remember they had test weapons...but I think those were removed. Will be exciting to see this mod progress!
I have to say. Bosses are quite cool, however some of them seem quite…. A bit too hard for my liking. Maybe a tad bit too spammy.
