UPDATE: I got the jump start to work by connecting the black clamp to the black pole of the battery, not to the frame. I used my little magnet and found a part of the frame it stuck to but that didn't work. I tried the battery in desperation and VROOM. Thank you! The box works fine: I partially recharged a flashlight from the USB port. But my jump start didn't work the first time I tried it and I was sure I did something wrong. So I found a little magnet to help me find something for the black clamp and I'll try again.
There's new information out there saying that there's a risk by doing that. I used to clamp to the negative post all the time, but I wanted to follow the instructions for the video.
Would you rather use this instead of jumper cables?

How long did you leave the cables on the car before trying to start the car? Thanks for sharing
Not very long. I think I hooked the cables up, then turned on the jump start and turned the key within 20 seconds.
