- Chihuahuas running loose in Maryvale, Phoenix, Arizona according to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control:
Animal Control needs public's help wrangling Chihuahuas running loose in Maryvale.
They may be small, but they’re wreaking havoc in Maryvale.
Chihuahuas are on the loose in this part of Phoenix and that's worrying residents.
Animal control tells us the big issue here is overpopulation. Officials say it's going to take the help of neighbors to curb it.
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control says if you compare the Maryvale area with a similar sized area in Glendale the number of calls they're getting about stray Chihuahuas is twice as high.
Officials say that number is three times as high compared to Chandler and Gilbert.

All three of my chihuahua were strays I adopted and absolutely adored them. They were the sweetest dogs ever, I only have one left now. The others passed away at 14 and 15 years old. My current one is 15 🥹

My late chi chi boy never had a single day of hardship, never went hungry, never been subjected to any kind of cruelty, but it always took 3-4 people to subdue him to give him his meds. And he nearly ripped a few people’s tendons off.

Poor babies…they need to be adopted and loved.
Years ago there would be dog gangs of all different breeds/sizes once abandoned by vacation goers in Calabria. You regularly had to change your plans when walking to a particular beach bar. Now it's usually a pair of large dogs in the area of someone's property but a big stick scares then back to their own land.

I'm not in Arizona, but I've had several chihuahuas over many years and I so loved them. They aren't very available where I live. Maybe the shelter could check around with other states and see if the demand in other states would be a good way to find them homes that will love and care for them. They do make fantastic family pets and companions. Also, they are great at letting you know if anyone is coming around your home as they bark more than other breeds and sound the alarm. Love them.
I expected to laugh when I saw the title but this made me sad. I have a chihuahua and like most of his breed, they can't be too long without their humans. They're just so affectionate and loyal. These poor things have no one to cuddle with.

I have chihuahuas but you do realise dogs existed in the wild for hundreds of years before becoming domesticated. Wild dogs do not wish for human contact.
our Chihuahua is a thug. we love her. Rescued from a shelter 10 years ago. She loves little children and is an adorable loving dog but... will threaten anyone who knocks on the door. Best loyal gift from God. Chihuahuas are so smart and loving.

Good grief! Train n discipline your dog!! At the first tenseness in your dog when he sees another dog before he ever growls or barks at another dog give a sharp short verbal correction with a sharp tug on his leash! If he ignore you put him on his side on the ground and hold him here with your foot until he quits resisting. Then repeat the initial correction when required followed up by second action if required with NO hesitation and MUST be done EVERY time it occurs otherwise the chaos continues. You can be sued if your dog injures another dog or a person.

I know this video is old, but I really hope this issue has been solved! If I could I would come gather them all up and adopt them out. Where I live small breed dogs are in high demand with huge wait lists at the shelters! I have 2 Chihuahuas myself and LOVE them, would definitely take in several more too.

I recently adopted one of these little street urchins from Texas. He's a tough little fellow, quite dissatisfied with the Santa Claus outfit for Christmas pictures but he likes his sweater and heating pad. He's a good eater and he's getting more comfortable though he still growls and bites. He's used to fending for himself and now he has a helicopter mommy. My little Huckleberry Finn... 🐾❤️.
