- Once the standard, long acting, once daily baseline insulin, Lantus recently encountered significant competition. This opening of the insulin markets may finally bring some pricing relief to this still expensive necessity. For most Type 2 diabetics, the need for insulin marks the failure of diet and exercise to maintain normal body weight. By itself Lantus rarely suffices to control blood sugar.

Doc, you are great! I'm going to share this video with anyone who is new to Insulin so they can fully understand it.
I’m on Lantus, just went on it about three weeks ago, after a bout of Covid, that made my diabetes go nuts, I was sailing along controlled by oral medications, suddenly my sugars went up to 600, and I’ve been a Diabetic for about 8-9 years, I’m not overweight, 6’1” 168, Covid made me loose 25 pounds, now that I’m on Lantus, I’m slowly gaining it back, even on a low carb diet so I don’t spike after meals.

I have been on Lantus for going on 8 years, with an evening injection. Lantus did not work properly for me until my Doctor told me to split the dosage. Half at breakfast and half in the Evening. Immediately I my results were as they should be. I was also on a Januvia pill taken at breakfast. I stopped taking that pill when I started the twice a day insulin injection. Things seems to work well for me using this regiment. I'm sorry but Lantus does not work as a once a day insulin for some Diabetics. It wears off during the day and the body is in need of more insulin.

What does tobacco use with lantus solorstar do to disbetic user?
I went from insulin to methformin for a year that stopped working, made my A1c go for 5.1 to 8.1 blood sugar spiked to 400. Then went on trujardy for almost a year sadly that doesn’t work anymore. Now back to insulin pens, homolog and Lantau pens.
Type 1 for 25 years. Lantus is used with Humalog and creates a roller coaster of low and highs compared to Novolin N and R that are available for 24 bucks each compared to 530 dollars.
also most diabetics have insulin resistance and Lantus is not strong enough
I was getting high blood sugar in the morning at around 105 when waking up, dawn syndrom from the liver releasing glucose in the night. Would Lantus taking at night as a once daily dose deal with this?

Should Lantus be held if your blood sugar is below 60?
Lantus is BACKGROUND insulin... it's what keeps sugar stable BETWEEN MEALS... It's not a substitute for mealtime insulin. Do not omit it, ever, unless your doctor tells you to.

I was on lantus and thin but don't need lantus now I am on a heakthy diet foods that lower your blood sugar instead of a drug docs that push you to take drugs are lining their pickets and the pharmaceutical companies are making millions keeping us sick that's why they don't tell you check it out here on you tube healthy foods for diabetics foods like veg kale spinach low carbon foods but getting your daily vitamins on what your body needs do your research and try I did and I am not on insulin

A very old school doctor with Hba1c target of 7 instead of 5.5. That target is deadly misleading. Whether or not you have diabetes, hba1c should be below 5.5.
Goals for diabetics are not the same. Obviously lower is better but it’s often not reasonable to expect such a low number from a diabetic.
