I would like to build a fire alerting system using a photodiode and my point of concern is on how can I build it in a way that the photodiode responds to fire threats but not other threats like light being emitted by torches, bulbs, LEDs and others of that sort.
Does it produce any current without bias? What happens if we just connect a PD to a resistor and shine the light to it? Does the current flow through resistor?

Pro trick: watch movies on flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
Well,i think with fire 🔥 smoke should also be detected,so,you will need an IR sensor also

I think same concept as forward bias. There will be a current >>photocurrent thus not detectable.
