      This. Checo was a big part of why the RB was so good. Look at his past teams, you'll see a history of punching above their weight (aka budget). If RB wants to dump him, they have to do it before 2026 to bed the new driver in. If Andreotti joins, they need an old hand. Perfect match.

If I have this right his 2022 Ganassi contract said he could switch to McLaren IndyCar in 2023 so he could be closer to the F1 operation, but after seeing how much success he was having he backed out, which is why McLaren sued him for breach of contract.

    As an Aussie I really hope a lot of these predictions are spot on. But for Daniel to go to Red Bull and Yuki stay with RB I think that means they will have to be pretty closely matched. If either one is completely on top the one who doesn't perform will likely be out of F1. I think actually the battles in each team could be the most exciting thing about F1 this year. If Russell isn't close to (or ahead of) Hamilton his value drops. Checo has to be a bit closer to Max if he wants to keep racing. Sainz will want to show he is equally as good as Leclerc. The McLaren pair I expect will be closer this year and if one gets that first GP win it will put a lot of pressure on the other. The Alpine drivers will likely have more scraps among themselves this year and at the other teams there is at least one driver seeking to prove they deserve to be there. We could end up seeing one of the biggest changes to the grid ever in 2025.

    very realistic until the end for me. don’t know if these smaller teams will go with rookie lineups. I think teams like haas, or stake are going to want experienced drivers or a very common tactic of one experienced and one rookie. Based off haas last rookie lineup season I would argue it’s not gonna happen again.

    Great vid Tommo.
    Really feels like a bottleneck of very talented drivers welling-up and forcing change.
    Lawson, Drugovich, Doohan, Pourchaire all have strong arguments to be on the grid. Interesting times upon us.

    The Palou idea is genius. Certainly hope that happens. If he does well (and keeps the car out of the wall), Haas would benefit greatly.

    To replace Hulkenberg and Magnussen with Bearman and Palou is an exciting and curious possibility, similar to Benetton when they replaced Alesi and Berger with Fisichella and Wurz.

    I completely agree about Albon going to Aston Martin. I've been thinking that for a while. Hadn't thought at all about Ocon leaving Alpine but it would make sense, in his time Alpine has just got worse and worse. Why not join a team that is on the rise. Alpine are certainly not going to make any sort of progress in the next two seasons at least.

  • @Slimmeyy

    Agreed on 16/20. Differences:
    - Albon staying at Williams, and them promoting O'Sullivan/Colapinto (one of them will do well in F2 and Logan has a bad season). I don't see the new Williams mentality working with Ocon.
    - Drugovich in Aston Martin. I could see this being an interrim choice, in case they snipe Antonelli for 2026.
    - Perez/Ocon to Haas instead of Palou. If they want to keep Ferrari happy, they'd bring in an experienced driver to teach Bearman the ropes. It'll depend on which performs better in 2024. If Andretti do buy out Haas, Checo is the better option as a North American and will be less *cross* with the team mentality.

    I honestly think Palou's best shot at F1 was at McLaren and that bridge is burned.
    He's a serious contender but I Don't think it'll be enough to convince other teams as they already had their candidates.
    But who knows, maybe he talks to the right people and it can actually be doable.

    I take it in this scenario Esteban Ocon is leaving Alpine rather than them choosing a different option? Because there is no way Alpine will choose one of their juniors over an established driver. We all saw the fluff they made of Piastri a few years ago and as good as Doohan might be, he isn't a Piastri.

    I don't think RB will drop Checo as long as Max wins points (and Checo contributes enough) to win them the Constructor's. He brings in the sponsorship money and Ford likes him.

    I did my predictions a week ago, but I dont feel very confident about them. Especially your points about Ocon seems very valid, but I will not change mine now.
    5 Teams stay the same, so here are my changed lineups:
    RB: Max - Yuki
    RB2: Ric - Liam Lawson
    W: Albono - Drugovich
    S: Hülk - Pourchaire
    H: KMag - Bearman
    I cant wait how it will really pun out.

    DR to Redbull would be the biggest downgrade ever. I like Ricciardo and I think he's a good driver, but Checo is better, plus he brings a lot to the team. I'm not defending Checo's season because yes, he made plenty mistakes and I know he can do better than that, but overall he got P2 in the driver's championship, he just needs to be more consistent and find what works best for him in the car, then stay like that at least until 2026

  • @urworstemmamy
    @urworstemmamy Год назад

    I feel like Palou is a lot more likely to go to Aston Martin, at least in 2026. Honda is VERY proud of Palou winning championships for them. I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to leverage their position as engine supplier to get Palou in. Plus I don't think Palou wants to be at the back, and Aston Martin can reasonably argue that they'll be at the front or at least near it.

    FINALLY Someone speak about Alex Palou. Futur WDC. This man is so damn fast. He smash everyone in pure pace in Indy. Grosjean is a fast driver (uncistant and prone to crash), and Alex is faster, more consistent, and less prone to crash. He is the only Indycar Champion to be crown 1 race before the end. That is Max level domination for indycar. A bit of Alonso's management alike, but if that can bring multiple WDC, fine. Last time Indycar driver came, Villeneuve WDC, and Montoya the legend on and off track.

    Alex Palou would be the only thing thast could get me as an American to root for Haas and is a very smart idea to set up for the future. If they can deliver Alex some good results and a stepping stone to a top team then I can see the Haas 2nd seat becoming the "I want out of Indycar" seat. This only would work though on the pretense that Andretti doesn't come into F1 and do the same thing (which I feel they might).

  • @heydude23001
    @heydude23001 Год назад

    Albon to Aston is definitely a move I could see happening - as much as Albon loves Williams, Aston is way ahead with staff, facilities, and their car. Aston has focused on bringing in top engineers, management, etc, particularly poaching Fallows from Red Bull (RB unsuccessfully sued to keep Fallows from leaving). Aston had a dip in car development after early podiums last season but they are on the rise. Albon can learn from Alonso for a season or two (or three, who knows with Fernando), then be their lead driver going forward.
    Lance Stroll is not going to suddenly turn into a WC contender driver. In 2024, it will be another Stroll season. A few really good performances, a lot of anonymous weekends and a few crashes. Another podcaster summed it up well - Stroll is like Pastor Maldanado without the extreme peaks and valleys that Pastor was known for. A journeyman level driver who has lasted five years longer in F1 than otherwise he would have, without a rich dad putting him on the grid year after year. I think Stroll gets passed over to the Aston hypercar project or maybe WEC or something after this season. He isn't terrible but at this point in Aston's climb up the ladder, he holds them back.

  • @timhefty504

    I can picture K-Mag leaving F1 for IndyCar and moonlighting with Corvette like his dad for IMSA and WEC. Or maybe he could use the Haas--Rick Ware/Dale Coyne association and moonlight in NASCAR, but I'm dreaming here. I think hes the only driver in F1 that could do that.
