I like it. I'm a returning modeler after a 50 year gap, so tips like these are gold dust to me. I've ordered a box of Blu Tack and a couple of those paint pens too. I've also invested in a small portable ventilated paint booth so no masks needed.
Thanks for the head’s up regarding Sprue Brothers Sale. I was looking for the Black Widow night fighter in 1/72 scale and it popped up when I typed in “Dragon 1/72” - Thank-you, again.
@@yorkshiremanmodelstried this on my hurricane earlier today before i left for work....will be home in about an hour and will remove the bluetack and let you know how i got on......paint should be dry by now (humbrol Acrylic).
@@yorkshiremanmodels Yes Russian aircraft are beautiful to gaze upon and the kits tooling looks great I have just started to dry fit everything to see how the fit goes together and no problems so far
i got the brush pens from amazon think it was around £5 for 3 but i have had them a while normally spraying around 18 to 20 psi but dependent on how thin the paint is i can end up going lower also for fine detail i sometimes drop it to around 12 psi
depends on the paint in all honesty some paints ie mr hobby and tamiya i will often remove it after about a hour but others i have to leave overnight and thats usually humbrol or valleyo
it is and i usually do it that way but the starter kit paints didnt have a lot of paint in them so to make sure i had enough i used the double mask method
the nozzle is way too large for applying and you can end up with way too much on the model the drying time is slow as well which in most cases slows down build time but does help when building tracks with individual links
@@yorkshiremanmodels i find it good for using for small parts and when you neef a bit of wiggle time as you say with link and length tracks . Its also good for using to add to filler to thin it out about to get it to be more like sprue goo. Its all we had back in the 60's and 70's when i started. Never use it straight from tube, i always put some down on a strip of masking tape and use a cocktail stick or a fine screwdriver to apply it to parts. Like everyone else i use the thin stuff but it's not good for every thing.
Great job on the build. Thanks for all the information. 👍👍
your welcome

i really need to get a paint booth at some point as masking up each time is a pain
Stumbled across your channel, finding it really good and enjoy the videos that you put up. I'll be back watching the back catalogue.
thanks and hope you enjoy them

Blu tack camo method is great for beginners, you get great results, nice build.
cheers and i used to use this method years ago and still do now

Very nice build and paintwork!
thanks
Blu tak. Interesting technique!
It is!
Excellent video. Thanks.
cheers
Looks really good thanks for the video keep them coming
Thanks, will do!
Great looking Hurricane once again and I am going to use this blu tack method on a SU 30 SM kit I have by Zvezda for the camo markings 👍
nice one and i think the su30 are a cracking looking aircraft

sometimes its good to try different techniques
@@yorkshiremanmodels absolutley....its amazing how simple some of the techniques we use truly are.👍👍👍
Thanks for the video YM. How did you madk the wheel wells please? Are they fullof Blue Tac?
Yes or I also add a bit of sponge in if it's a big one is 1/48 scale
Lovely little build. That air brush sounded very powerful, what air pressure you using?
run it at around 18 psi dependent on paint but its under the desk so makes more noise because of that
Great video!! What did you use for the pin wash, did you matt seal it before you did the pin washing?
i always seal the paint work with a gloss varnish
Where did you get the brush pens? Also what PSI do you normally spray at
i got the brush pens from amazon think it was around £5 for 3 but i have had them a while
normally spraying around 18 to 20 psi but dependent on how thin the paint is i can end up going lower

How long do wait after airbrushing to remove Blutack? Thanks great video
depends on the paint in all honesty

Thank you
I recon painting it all brown then doing ur green would be so much easier and faster no double masking maybe I’m wrong though
it is and i usually do it that way but the starter kit paints didnt have a lot of paint in them so to make sure i had enough i used the double mask method
Why do you consider the tube cement rubbish?
the nozzle is way too large for applying and you can end up with way too much on the model

@@johnnoble01 Ha Ha yeah as an old fart I remember it well 😂
@@Jeff-cv4qn and I'm an old Yorkshire fart as well! 😄
Proper.
I think you have laquered the model before decalling.
i usually do as it makes decals apply better
Sounds like your air pressure is too high.
i usually check it before painting but may have forgot this time
Skills costs nothing!
wish i had some lol
