Charlotte understands us viewers at 18:30. Thanks so much for asking the real question; how NOT to get squished financially by the world's de-dollarization fiasco. We need a channel like this to help us navigate the ever increasing dangerous and complex financial landscape politicians have thrown us all into. This discussion made me a new subscriber. Keep up the good work.

Great interview, Doug seems very knowledgable, But as I've followed the BRICS and it's participants for a few years, there are a few points: firstly BRICS has been operating as a Trading Bloc for over 16 years, where they have been using Gold Commodities and their own currencies to settle their accounts, BRICS has also been heavily investing in Global infrastructure to enable the large part of the world's population to be incorporated into a BRICS lead or Asian lead Globalistaion. rather than BRICS representing just those original founding member countries, BRICS now represents well over 4 Billion people and will continue to grow and ebcome stronger economically and Militarily for at least the next century. This has been achieved through Long term planning with win win scenarios at the core, The Chinese Russians and Indians have been accumulating Hundreds of Tonnes of Gold every year for 16+ years, with China now revealing they have over 25,000 Tonnes of Gold at their disposal, Russia tied the value of the Ruble to Gold in 2022 and like China also have set up Oil-Gold ruble swaps. but China now has 45 countries ready to trade in the Yuan (in just One year). This has been achieved through Russia standing up to NATO in Ukraine which has exposed the almost unbelievable weaknesses of NATO (30 countries unable to supply Ukraine with enough weapons systems or ammunition to defeat Russia, despite having eight years to plan train arm and fortify Ukraine to destroy what the US Neocon War mongers thought would be an economically wrecked country that would be a Push over??? In fact Russia on a Miniscule military Budget, has leap frogged over all NATO countries in Military technology! Not just the Two versions of Hypersonic Missiles, Russia also has Nuclear powered Drones, with unlimited range, loitering and evasion capabilities; One is a Submarine drone that can take out any ship, including Aircraft Carriers, making all the Trillions in NATO Carrier Battle groups, obselete. The Other Nuclear powered drone is an Aerial Drone with the same capabilities (unlimited range, loitering and evasion capable). On top of these technological advances, (minaturized nuclear power plants, the Aerial drone appreently has a secret Nuclear propulsion system?) Despite the US and NATO countries spending Untold Trillions on their military industrial complexes and on wars against small nations, NATO has become stagnant, bloated wasteful and incompetent. (WHERE has the money gone who has profited while the US has been bankrupted; Recent revelations showing that Zelensky and Ukraine generals have skimmed off $400 BIllion in donated funds to Ukraine, not counting the massive amounts of weapons that were stolen by these people to be sold on the blackmarket, there have been similar stories of this sort of corruption in the Trillions wasted in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Russia has risen from the complete disintergration of the old Soviet Union, where the soviets also had a Bloated wasteful stagnant military that was complteely corrupt, we can see the parrallels with the US Military empire today. Unlike the US though, which operated on the Biggest Bully in the world premise to maintain it's power Russia first developed purely defensive systems and deterents to attack, with the most comprehensive Air defense & Area denial systems in the world, before developing the most devastating second strike systems in the world, with little waste or corruption, in the US we see Biden taking 10% for the Big guy off every dodgy deal Hunter Biden can organise. I have no idea about Putin's supposed wealth which I feel has been largely exaggerated by the CIA and the US Neocons to demonize and denegrate Putin. Xi actually rose to power on an Anti corruption platform which he carried out ruthlessly and to his favor on his rise to power, something we in the west should realise is that No system can function if it has been corrupted. (I'll leave my rant at that).

Thanks for your detailed post, pretty much agree with everything except for that the ruble has been tied to gold, at least not officially, in fact last time I checked ruble has been significantly fluctuating against gold price and even TASS news themselves refuted that claim a few months ago. In any case, perhaps and probably the goal is to do so, but I think it hasn't happened yet.

I retired and moved to Thailand 14 years ago. I was not a stranger to Thailand having a long history of living , working and traveling ther since I first came to Thailand in1968 from Vietnam as a GI on R&R. After graduating from college on my G I bill I was able to work internationally for various oil companies that had me working in Thailand on different projects for 6 years.
What I saw over the 55 years that I had visited was a 3rd world agricultural country developed into a very modern industrial country that today exceeds the U.S.A in many areas including the standard of living,
I am sure that there will be a world wide economic depression in the future but I believe Thailand will fair well in the situation. On thing I am always reading is you will need gold to survive and that is the one thing that 95% of the Thai population has. In every city small or large there are gold shops and the Thais use them. No need to search for a gold shop since there are thousands of them through out the country. Anyone can use them including tourists.
In addition Thailand has hundreds if not thousands of brand new modern factories many built by America, Japanese, European and Chinese companies. Thailand also has a health care system that is actually better than the U.S.A when it comes to providing health care to its citizens, there education system also is superior than the U.S. for providing an education for it's citizens,
For all the above I feel I will be in a much better situation in Thailand than America in the event that the world has another depression.

When all this takes place. Many (probably a majority) will not be in a good place. People get real desperate when they get hungry and even worse when they can't feed their babies. People will do things they would have never previously considered in order to survive. How would you use gold or silver when the system collapses. It seems to me, word would spread far and wide very quickly the first time it's used.

Don't worry Doug. You are far and away my favorite pessimist. Your gloominess is based on clear thinking. You always tell it like it is to the best of your ability , which is considerable.

Charlotte is looking beautiful and giving Danielle Cambone a run for her money! Great interview with the brilliant Doug Casey, a super sharp mind and worldly historian! I haven’t seen him in a while, but I like hearing his outlook as he thinks on a much higher level than the average bear! Does Doug need a hired hand on his Uruguay farm?!? I’m ready to ditch the Houston area before it becomes more “chaotic” than it already is. I would work for fresh beef, pork, chicken, fish and fresh veggies.....

FYI, Australia does not have a Fractional Reserve system. Instead in the Australian Reserve Bank words, "The creation of money is n0t directly regulated, though the Reserve Bank of Australia does influence heavily changes in the cash rate which, in turn influences bank lending rates and the appetite for borrowing and the provision of deposits." I understand that they like a single blunt club," interest rate settings" and the rest can sort itself out. Left in quandary whether its better or worse than fractional reserve and perhaps its is the financial environment at the time that really shows what would have been best. Hindsight and a shrug perhaps.

a year on DOUG WAS RIGHT, gold was US$2030, now its US$2330, so buying gold back than when everyone though it was high was a good move, just like buying now seems expensive, but it will look cheap when its US$2800

Can you please explain how to use gold or silver to pay for things like groceries… gas etc… ? If a gold coin that you paid $1925 is used to buy gas, how do you make change?

You buy smaller amounts of Gold than 1 ounce. Like 1/10 oz. Or you use silver as it is cheaper than gold for the lesser priced items.

I read his first two novels and LOVED them but the third one Assassin is not available at our library. I am a poor senior and cannot afford to buy it. I am wondering why it is not available in the library.
