I’ve been looking for a good guide for painting bloodletters and normally I’m turned off when contrast paints are used predominantly, but this looks excellent! Definitely the best finish from the 4 or 5 vids I’ve seen so far. Thanks for giving me a template to try out and great finish on the mini 👍🏻
These have never been my favourite sculpts tbh, but you made him look really cool with that paint job, once you start blending contrast there is no going back it opens your eyes to a whole new dimension of the paint.
Hilarious intro, great production and video demonstration of the paints and painting techniques used. I also really appreciated the conclusion at the end, reflecting on the overall process and your approach to painting it. Will def start to check out more videos. Instant subscriber, great stuff!
I really enjoyed the video and the model came out fantastic! I also enjoyed the time and effort with the outfit and the use of the axe in the beginning was very fitting, haha! As I recall brass is a traditional colour for Khorne so a good choice for the blade.
@@aceofmaine I've seen a couple of things done for that. You need something for the blood/paint to hold onto. - I've see other use a string/wire to wire a small 'core' to build the paint up on. - Also, you can use semi-dry 'droplettes' of super glue I've seen to create the drip and then paint that drop. But that looks like it takes practice I haven't done yet. o.o
Yes Inquisitor, this video..... Joke aside, great choice of colors for your model and I really like the choice for the base. Truly a worthy champion of Khorne ! I also like your choice of using the pipette. I don't see it use often and I was wondering how to use it correctly when model painting. Great job again, Angela ! P.S. Nice mention of Duncan in the video=P
Thank you very much! 💜 When we were discussing what to do with the mini to sort of spice him up because we were taking him off his old 25mm base, I remembered that I had these bases left over from a different project and I am so glad that I used it. The pipette really did help, I certainly will be trying to use it more for these kinds of projects. I do wish I had a slightly smaller, or perhaps just one with a more precise tip for when I put the second layer on. I just didn't trust my self not to accidentally over pour the paint and goo up his feet too much! XD P.S. Gotta pay respects ~
Pfft the intro was hilarious XD Question, is using contrast paints a little more difficult than the traditional paints like Khorne red base paint for example? BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
I actually find them to be significantly easier to use than traditional base paints. The first time I explored painting it was with Acrylic Inks and Watercolors in my youth. The reason that is relevant to your question is because I find Contrast paint behaves similarly to those two mediums and therefor I am much more comfortable working with them than a pure Acrylic paint (like Citadel Base and Layer paints). Hence why I use them all the time on this channel! XD
I painted it red using Blood Angels Red or Fleshtearers Red contrast paint and then added a layer of Blood for the Blood God over the tip and up about half way towards the mouth to give it a glistening effect.
He's one of the "traditionnal" Chaos God in Warhammer, but many debate if he was the First Chaos God to appear and I agree, someone should give something new to the Lord of Skulls !

Contrast really can add a whole new level to a paint scheme depending on how it is use! 💜

Khorne hasn't had anything big and new in ages and he's meant to be the chaos boss
um no Khrone isn't the boss of chaos...
