I wouldn’t necessarily call it “ahead of its time“, as a lot of these tropes were already a recurring theme in sci-fi. That said, this is a splendid early 80s German song by all means
1:10 Liebe ist nicht programmiert? Love is not programmed? Don't let Paso Doble hear it: "Die Module spielen verrückt, Mensch ich bin total verliebt, voll auf Liebe programmiert mit Gefühlen" (The modules go crazy, Man, I'm totally in love, completely programmed on love with feelings). But OK, It came out one year AFTER this song, so I guess technology improved in this one year. :-D
This is actually pretty good. It's a somewhat "lost" German early-80s-synthpop hit! For some reason this song always reminds me of Japanese 80s sci-fi animes. In the 90s, quite a few German early 80s New Wave songs were remixed in a techno/rave style...but this song was overlooked. It would have fit nicely as a techno remix :D
I found the translation from the internet: I play chess with my computer, and shoot UFOs a thousand times in a row. But something is missing. It is my friend, my lexicon. Takes control of my brain functions. But something is missing, please kiss me. I wanted a superman, a machine is no Don Juan . *Computer games unfortunately don't have feelings. Computer games unfortunately don't have feelings. * I love him when electric **. But love cannot be programmed in the brain. He strokes my body-**. Has a strategy for every war. Up to the stars that no one sees I wanted a superman a machine is no Don Juan. (*repeat) Imagine, you were flesh and blood. We'd fly into the kingdom of heaven, please kiss me. The universe would begin to shake, while we float into the sky, and you kiss me. Then you were the superman for me, the ideal Don Juan (*Repeat)
yes they had their own arcade games called polyplay, with admittedly cloned western games. Some elderly, or western relatives sent comodore 64s to GDR. Computerclubs also thrived, thanks to state funding. My own Hometown's state owned company for microelectronics published the game Jungle in 1989. I believed if the GDR were allowed to continue it would have had more of its own video games with socialist characteristics, western practices such as Gambling, pay to win, crunching, or dlc's withholding content would have been impossible.
@@TheySchlendrian Damn, the GDR always seems to be the shining example of Socialism for me. It was a literal parliamentary democracy, produced a bunch of things natively by itself, including cars and other luxury items, had the best army in the entire Eastern Block according to both Western and Soviet analysis, and almost all of its shortcomings seems to be external, for example embargo on Eastern countries by the West, and the Soviets and Poles stealing land, and industry.
This song is way ahead of its time. She sings about computers not being able to replace human contact, and how she is longing for real physical love.
All i hear is German. So the words mean something?

This reminds of rotten garbage in the sun
I can see why, as animes of the time tended to get new synth title songs in Europe (with Captain Future being well remembered)
@@vapordave2234 Kind of similar to the stuff on your playlists then, innit? ;-)
