I don’t really think revealing him was ill-advised. I do think it was poorly timed though. I think the series should’ve started with Rhodey dying and the Skrull reveal happening right then and there (like Elektra in the comics), and that the whole world reacts with fear and paranoia, accusing everyone of being a Skrull (like the red scare). I would’ve also brought Coulson back, with people questioning whether he is a Skrull or not.
EXACTLY!! Just cuz they hit it out of the park with Guardians, they assume we want a bunch of movies/shows of a bunch of C-list characters NO ONE cares about
@@trump_the_ivanka_toucherthats exactly what we, the Marvel fans want, specially after Guardians 😂 makes total sense from a business stand point as well.
with the first 3 phases, every single film contributed something to an overall narrative developed mainly through B plots and post credit scenes and small lines within the films. It was easy to follow, got people excited, and made each movie feel like a must-see event. The very first films were just introducing us to each Avenger and giving us their back stories. After the first Avengers movie, it was dealing with the fallout of that film, continuing the Infinity saga, introducing more characters gradually, paying off plot threads yet unresolved, giving us not just another Avengers movie but Civil War like a year later, which was an Avengers-level event that then directly led to Infinity War and Endgame (at least as far as consequences go). Everything felt connected even when each film was its own thing that stood on its own two feet. Now the MCU is so bloated, so obsessed with throwing as much stuff out there as possible, you have no idea from movie to movie/show if a post credits scene will mean anything later, or if the plot of the film and the characters will even amount to anything. Look at the Eternals. They're gonna have to resolve a lot of that stuff in other films and shows bc it kind of flopped in Marvel's eyes. We have previously announced shows and movies getting canceled. It's not all their fault- Chadwick Boseman was supposed to be one of the main anchors of the next phases and he tragically passed away. Then you had the main villain of the multiverse era get canceled at a time where it felt like they were just starting to form a coherent storyline. But they pushed out way too much way too fast. I think they also took the wrong lessons away from Iron Man and the Avengers' success overall. A lot of focus is given to the fact that these were D-list characters at best for the most part going into Iron Man 1 and Marvel was able to turn them into A-listers, which is true but they did so through the aforementioned careful, deliberate, FOCUSED storytelling. They didn't take characters nobody even knows about and give them a movie or a show and then hope people remember/care in 10+ years when they can try to make them matter in some capacity beyond their own standard Marvel formula movie, with like 50 films and 30 TV shows coming out between appearances where they're MAYBE mentioned or shown once in the background or post credits scene to remind people they still exist. Imagine if Iron Man had his movie, and then we straight up did not see the character again at all until Infinity War. Imagine all the movies we saw in that time frame, and he's just not in any of them, barely referenced at all, and when he does show up again he doesn't even really contribute anything in the grand scheme of things. That's how 99% of the new characters feel to me.
Loki and moonknight were terrible. Loki lost half its viewership by S2 and ratings. Moonknight was boring and lacked action. All the action was when the character would blackout and then wake up with all the people knocked out or dead 🤦🏽♂️ talk about bad writing.
Armor Wars pains me cause it still feels like Don Cheadle got the short end of the stick in the MCU, he's been mostly the butt of Jokes or put out of commissions for a plot twist. Promising him a show, then turning it into a movie only the cancel it is such a huge slap in the face. He really should be having a Brave New World eqsue chapter for his character and not having plot progression erased like Secret Wars did. Upsets me so bad as a fan of the actor and his Rhodey portrayal
I agree, I was genuinely looking forward to seeing him lead a project, he has just as much potential as Mackie's Cap, or more given the potential emotional ties to the Infinity saga run from the first movie.
Same. I don’t think they have done a good job of carving out a really unique and dope place for her character and an arc. It feels forced and very B level. Almost C.
@marvelmaniacs1 I can only think of 2 MCU movies that actually connect to the multiverse, Deadpool and Wolverine and Multiverse of Madness (maybe also The Marvels). Everything else isn't really multiverse focused or even connected to each other
Marvel have really wasted a lot of actors like Richard Madden, Kit, Emilia, Matt Smith, David Tennant, Michael Mando and so many more on dead end storylines which is a shame
David Tennant wasn’t wasted lol. He was a main character, in an incredible show. It was also ten years ago, and made back when marvel tv was a separate division from marvel studios. (Leave my boy outta this xd)
They should admit defeat on some recent projects, ignore them, and find a way to do the armor wars storyline. Tying the legacy of Stark to Spiderman, a character they don’t really control, was …. Risky. But control of Stark tech, how proliferated it is, is a major baseline to the world building of the MCU. You almost can’t move forward without addressing it properly.
What a disappointment that show was (Secret Invasion). Like literally it seemed like a complete waste on every level, story, characters, plotting, money waste, it seemed like it needed six more rewrites or just a place on a dusty shelf next to a book Dr. Strange doesn't read.
Just remember, she hulk was not only green lit... but business executives also approved the spending of close to 10 million dollars for a scene to have her twerk with megan thee stallion.
A big shame, I really want Excalibur, Black Knight and Capt Britain portrayed in Marvel series/ films with those suggested characters. The Secret Invasion story was not very good.
I would much rather not worry about bad movies and shows, because they would never get released, then watch crap stuff, that they just released anyway. If a bad product is canceled, it's nothing to worry about. But to rather have the "release it anyway" attitude never works out.
Secret invasion should have been a series that spanned the the MCU from behind the scenes and different angles. It would've been great to expose the skulls over the course of several decades over two seasons.... But expose them slowly, maybe as a spy thriller type series. And of course better writing.
I ditto this!!! I have literally been following Charlie for years now and he is by far, my favorite comic book, video game, anime, etc person to go to on RUclips. We are here for the long run Charlie! 💯🙏🏼
God, I have so many things I want to say. First of all, I feel like Emilia Clark hasn’t been given a good script since Game of Thrones and even the last two seasons of that were garbage. There are so many characters I could not care less about and Iron Heart is one of them. Meanwhile, you had actually well-developed characters like Shang Chi, and we haven’t heard anything about that since. That was one of the best things to come out of phase 4 and now it’s crickets. They had so many wonderful options they could’ve picked for Doom (Jon Hamm would’ve been my pick) and in order to try and revive the MCU, I really feel like that’s why they went with Robert Downey Jr. I love that man, but that felt like such a letdown to me. Not as much of a letdown as the casting for Fantastic Four but I may be alone in that and I’m hoping they change my mind. I don’t know. There just used to be a time where I had complete faith in Marvel’s choices and their casting, and I’ve been proven wrong time and time again in recent years. Especially with Multiverse of Madness. You know it’s bad when Elizabeth Olsen herself said clearly the writers didn’t watch WandaVision. Just absolutely insane writing. I could go on and on with the problems Marvel has had the last few years, but those are my top complaints. They really need to turn something around. They keep picking characters properties that no one cares about or asked for. Casting choices are messy and terrible lol. They have slowed down, but I still feel like they’re more concerned with quantity versus quality. I mean, geez I’m still going to see the new Captain America movie but that’s just because I like Anthony Mackie. I don’t actually have an interest in the movie. So we’ll see. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.
2:31 I’m personally incredibly disappointed that Don Cheadle will not get the spotlight he deserves for armor wars. Rhodey is such a great character, and I wish we had more of that.
Yeah maybe about 5 or 6 years ago. No young marvel fan wants to watch don cheadle when there are more exciting heroes like spiderman, shang chi and the thunderbolts
People need to remember a time when the closest thing we had to any type of Marvel live action film/vt was when Wizard Magazine would cast actors as characters.
There's always the option of them coming out to say "TV shows are not canon to the movies" ...and just wash their hands of that. It would give them a lot more freedom to do what they want, and also in case something is so terrible they can pretend it never existed.
Disney pushing on Kevin F. to announce, then cancel stuff reminds me of Armageddon scene where the Government was so anxious for them to pull the trigger on the bomb themselves that without knowing that they were about to spoil everything. Then punish the astronauts for the failure, as it was said just because they didn't want to lose power, or money. Kevin F. has been bringing success to the movies until they pull the "we are your boss" card.
Agreed completely. I would add that announcing stuff that might not even happen just to please shareholders in order to drive stock price up is beyond screwed up. Art should never be slave to financial speculation.
We might of only had 1 marvel film this year but 2025 has 3 planned once again. Cap 4. Thunderbolts and fantastic 4. Only looking forward to one of them and I’m guessing u know which one it is 😂
Charlie!!!! Thanks for the updates bro Quality is definitely a light at the end of this phase 4 and 5 multiverse tunnel I’m excited to see how they pull it off .
What marvel needs to do is make either as an intro or just a video on RUclips, a short clip of Deadpool breaking the 4th wall explaining what is canon and what isn't cracking a few jokes and walking off before teasing something huge and maybe also a surprise cameo.
Secret invasion was so horrible 🤦♂️i remember closing my labtop immediately I saw Gaia getting about 23 powers or so. That fight did it for me, didn't want to watch the series any longer 🤷♂️
Bro, you're my favorite when it comes to reviews on TV shows and movies. I love how you do not bend the knee to the big movie Industries and call bulshit when you see it. Keep up the great content, brother! 👏
Saddest about Black Knight getting canceled. Really hope they can bring it back some day. I was so hype for Kit Harrington getting to be corrupted by the ebony blade.
This is why I’m not excited for the new Avenger movie. Like the first avenger movie was earned by having already introduced several of the characters in their own movies which then allowed fans to get attached. I think it’s a mistake for Marvel to quickly move along without at least getting us up to date with some of the new hero’s we’ve been introduced. We never got a full picture of what earth is like after half the population reappeared so I don’t even know what the status is for the Avengers.
Yeah, that is an often complaint: because there are so many movies now we do not get to see characters they try to establish. It used to be a solo movie, then a cameo same or next year and a sequel or ensamble movie in 2-3 years time. Shang Chi had a good solo movie in 2021 and he is totally forgotten for 5 years? That is crazy.
We just have to imagine the economics of snapping to a 4-billion world, then blipping to 8 billion again. Oversupply of food, followed by a shortage of food 5 years later would have occurred. Apparently housing was a problem shown in _Falcon and the Winter Soldier,_ but jobs would have been too. And there might have been opportunities for people to go to college and replace those with professional jobs who were lost. I imagine there were a lot of suicides of people who lost family. And people might have thought it unfair that a flight crew that blipped got to come back, but not those who died in an airplane crash.
@@sandal_thong Plus might of lead to more of that. As those who came back realised their loved ones aren't there anymore. The story setting in it's entirety sounds like it written by the world of Warcraft writing team for gods sake. A massive genocide here, a few massacres and murders there, then forget them because a big evil arrives, beat it then everyone is together and friendly despite massive events occurring that effected god knows how many people. Absolutely despise writing like that, fine in cartoons and kids shows. In adult based media? No.
Ok but I think we should definitely put more fault on Feige. A lot of these ideas either came from him or had to be approved by him. Ppl getting fired are just scapegoats
He literally tried to step away from overseeing all the movies after Endgame. There was no chance in hell he would have been able to keep up with all the projects coming down the pipeline, it's no wonder things fell through the cracks. I'm surprised he was able to keep things together as long as he did.
If I have an idea to make an oil pipeline and someone makes pipeline out of paper is it my fault I planned a pipeline? Seriously tho, movies are made by thousands of people. It's never just a fault of one person unless maybe you're talking about something like Megalopolis.
They should just tag certain propertimes as Variant Timeline. Like in the case of Secret Invation... Variant Timeline: Secret Invasion. That way, it still happens, but we know it's a branch timeline that was pruned. That way it can be ignored and redone later. Variant Timeline: She-Hulk. That would even add to the Multiverse Saga. They could even create a Marvel One-Shot called Pruned that shows this, making jokes about how terrible that timeline was. "If you ever catch me booty popping on the job like that, please prune me!" - B15 🤣🤣🤣
I hope they figure out Blade. He’s my favorite character of all time. They also need to give W. Snipes a proper tribute. He brought that character to life. Marvel owes him huge.
The only good thing about Secret Invasion was the opening scene... the entire story was supposed to be like that. Not knowing who is not a Skrull, paranoia, cloak & dagger type stuff, but it completely went a total weird route. One major let down for me... I love espionage, spy drama crime stuff. It was total BS!
The profitable SONIC Franchise is the epitome of what can happen when the bigwigs that own a beloved IP, actually respects said IP. Then make calculated changes that’ll respect the longtime fanbase while also being updated to bring in a new fanbase, which will ultimately bring the entire fanbase together!!
Feige acts like he didn’t approve Secret Invasion. I doubt it was the one script he didn’t read or oversee and blindly gave 100% of the directorial/producer role to the director of the show.
I feel like Armor Wars could still work but if they made it they should have it take place between Ironman2 and 3 on the timeline. Whiplash sets that whole Pandora's box situation up. The fall out of Armor Wars could be used to explain how Tony had some many different armors in Ironman 3. I get he's a genius but there were so many variants of armor in that movie, when would he have time to design each of them. It would also explain why during a time of crisis in Ironman3 he was sticking with a faulty prototype instead of using all the other suits. The faulty prototype was one he actually made while he may have used Jarvis to replace the OS in the other suits but he hasn't learnt what each one is about. It would also explain why he set them all up to self destruct like he did.
I'd like to just pretend that EndGame Rhodey being a Skrull didn't happen but the truth is Marvel does need to deliver a cohesive narrative to clean up their mess from Secret Invasion.
Safe to say when secret wars comes around Amelia Clark’s character will be hastily killed off like she’s nothing in the most humiliating way just to brush off her character and completely CNTRL+ALT+UNDO that ENTIRE SECRET INVASION show from the sacred timeline..
@@edwardfletcher7790 well if she wasn’t exactly good at a job Disney wouldn’t keep hiring her even though it seems like she was signed up for a Disney-wide multi picture deal and they just had to throw her into another project just to have her contract end they could’ve just simply paid out the rest of the multi picture deal and save themselves more money than actually having to put her in another project. Because she was in three Disney related projects as far as I know, 2 of them were Star Wars projects & the 3rd one was Marvel’s Secret Invasion & after the Han Solo movie they could’ve just simply undone her character and replaced her with another character in the Star Wars outlaws game *& YES SHE RETURNED TO REPRISE HER SW ROLE IN AN OFFICIAL SW VIDEO GAME!* Anyway it’s mostly just a case of bad direction and poor writing, not bad acting.
@@edwardfletcher7790 I didn’t say she was good just that she at least has to be passable in acting to be able to work with Disney in the first place.. Doesn’t mean she’s good though.. Anyway it doesn’t matter when she’s permanently killed off in Avengers Doomsday & or Secret Wars.. 😒
Marvel should focus on the charecters they know work - Dead pool, Thor, Black Panther, X-men, Captain America, Spider man Dr. Strange (basically all midnight suns), Chiang Shi, Hulk. And stop all these Armor wars, Secret wars, Thunderball story line, its time to build up the next avengers team with the charecters everyone loves like how the last avengers movies were build up. Then you can add side charecters into the films how Spider man was added.
I actually was really into The Eternals 😭 I dont read the comics, I just watch videos of people who know the lore discuss things and I'll check out wikis or something. But I was totally prepared to really get into the Eternals and who they are. I loved those characters
Marvel is trying to do too much at once and the quality is suffering. They need to pull things back and bring us back to a simpler time. The storylines are just all over the place. I didn't even feel like watching Secret Invasion and back in the day I would never miss anything.
It's the rewriting and changes to source material that's cutting the shows and movies ~ buying the rights but not telling the stories or gutting who and how on characters with decades of followers ~ is getting sick!!! High Evolutionary doesn't make sense like the original did! Half of why Loki works like it's doing the fan service of showing ALL the characters as they should be!!!
Not ever paying a dime to see a marvel movie. Especially captain dum dum and the latest comment on C A isn’t about America. Dismal and marvel and all else is just junk.
I still can't get past, that the "showrunner" and producers of Secret Invasion, concluded that "Skrodey" was really a universe saving hero/Avenger, who helped directly defeat Thanos. Rather than say it was after End Game, they went with the canon-destroying and "huh" time period of the "switch" happening shortly after Rhodey's Captain America 3 Civil War accident. So no way Kevin Feige would miss that....he TRIES to delegate to others, and yet, they keep pulling him back to have good quality Marvel shows and movies! (Also, She-Hulk's arrogant 4th Wall of "KEVIN" was dismal and ridiculous) Where is Feige's right to a vacation! They're going to have Feige produce Marvel until he's 90!
Other than thor 4 and she hulk, I don't think anything post endgame has been really bad, just lower quality and disjointed. I didn't see secret invasive though so i can't judge that.
Endgame was awful lol. It literally ends with a fight against a villain who doesn't even know who the heroes are, removing all emotion from the confrontation. Bafflingly bad.
Secret Invasion was so bad that I barely finished the first episode while my gf fell asleep. We made a conscious decision to not finish it, which is rare for us, and I actually forgot it even existed and was thinking "Please let it not be more shitting on She-Hulk, which we actually quite enjoyed".

Ive said it before, but rhoadie was definately replaced rght after iron man 1...it was obvious(smh)...i cant believe nobody else noticed
I really have ZERO idea what they were thinking by pushing iron heart in BP2 and then thinking that people want a series of that.
EXACTLY!! Just cuz they hit it out of the park with Guardians, they assume we want a bunch of movies/shows of a bunch of C-list characters NO ONE cares about
Simple : Iron Heart was probably linked to the then upcoming Armor Wars. 🤷🏼♂️
@@trump_the_ivanka_toucherthats exactly what we, the Marvel fans want, specially after Guardians 😂 makes total sense from a business stand point as well.
Yep. Same with Echo in Hawkeye.

Deadpool:"Guys multiverse is failed take to L and move on."

with the first 3 phases, every single film contributed something to an overall narrative developed mainly through B plots and post credit scenes and small lines within the films.
Nailed it
I hope we get more shows like Moon Knight, and Loki, and less shows like this, but the Daredevil reboot seems very promising.
Loki and moonknight were terrible. Loki lost half its viewership by S2 and ratings. Moonknight was boring and lacked action. All the action was when the character would blackout and then wake up with all the people knocked out or dead 🤦🏽♂️ talk about bad writing.

Promising him a show, then turning it into a movie only the cancel it is such a huge slap in the face. He really should be having a Brave New World eqsue chapter for his character and not having plot progression erased like Secret Wars did. Upsets me so bad as a fan of the actor and his Rhodey portrayal
Get used to this type of 💩, there will never be another black lead marvel movie ever again.
Thats actually sad. Id say he's more charismatic than mackie. No hate to mackie though
I agree, I was genuinely looking forward to seeing him lead a project, he has just as much potential as Mackie's Cap, or more given the potential emotional ties to the Infinity saga run from the first movie.
Now they are trying to cancel Captain America Brave New World so Anthony Mackie is not in the clear yet.

Same. I don’t think they have done a good job of carving out a really unique and dope place for her character and an arc. It feels forced and very B level. Almost C.
The fact that you guys used the moniker "scrodey" Is COMPLETELY unhinged 😅😅😅
“I’m excited for them to see how that goes” not very well bro, not very well
The problem is they don't have a main plot that connects the stories together, like the Infinity Saga.

So I guess we're forgetting the fact that it's literally the multiverse saga and doctor doom has already been stated to be the big bad guy...
They never did. They literally threw in the infinity stones and went with the flow.

By Matt Smith, are you referencing Morbius, or was there an actual Marvel thing he was involved with?
@@RickCarleton morbius, I know it’s a separate universe but feel like if he was cast in an mcu it would be a little tarnished by that.
David Tennant wasn’t wasted lol. He was a main character, in an incredible show. It was also ten years ago, and made back when marvel tv was a separate division from marvel studios. (Leave my boy outta this xd)
Tennant was awesome as the purple man in Jessica Jones.
Matt Smith and David Tennant were in the MCU?!?!? WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?!?!?

That was in the 'Yasssss queen!' timeline.
And they wonder why people are saying "Hollywood is Dying" since they're spending this much unnecessary money for mediocre content.
And that was not the worst thing of that series
100 million dollar lose was exactly what they expected and winning for them.
Cracks me up how people are still crying about an end credits gag.
I think you’re on to something. Reminds me of the scene of Agents of shield when Coulson gave Nick the Helicarrier for Age of Ultron
Can you imagine in the mcu they find more skrull pods and in one they find Bruce banner but it's edward norton the real hulk.
Secret invasion should have been the main story arc of phase 5
Great idea!
And the TOTAL waste of a Great character when they killed Agent Hill!
The Young Avengers will be 90 by the time they roll that out.
Marvel never fleshed out the true Mariah Hill who was always after Nick's job permanently. Such a good anti-villain in the comics.
It's been 4 and half years since they announced armor wars and its 2025 its been put on holded indefinitely

Back to watching the ‘98 version to put away the pain. Again.

He was great as the lead in _Hotel Rwanda._ I could watch that again.
Yeah maybe about 5 or 6 years ago. No young marvel fan wants to watch don cheadle when there are more exciting heroes like spiderman, shang chi and the thunderbolts
Why would I want to enter a give away for Cap 4? That's not a prize, that's a punishment

What marvel needs to do is make either as an intro or just a video on RUclips, a short clip of Deadpool breaking the 4th wall explaining what is canon and what isn't cracking a few jokes and walking off before teasing something huge and maybe also a surprise cameo.

"If you ever catch me booty popping on the job like that, please prune me!" - B15 🤣🤣🤣
never knew I missed face cam until people started requesting it again

Just give us better quality like Deadpool and wolverine. Thanks Charlie
Or simply pretend the series never happened.
