Pilots routinely turn the AP off between 1000-500ft so they can get some "flying" in so they don't get "rusty." 90-95% of most flights are controlled by the AP, but the pilots need to maintain their skills or they lose them, so initial climb out and late final the pilot/FO-CP get some "hands on" work in.

Because it seems as though the movement of his hands on the controls of the aircraft it doesn't seem to really affect the attitude of the airplane. So I would love to feel how that feels. If you would slow down on your inputs, you could keep the same amount of control. Just use a little cross control if it’s a big crosswind or wind shear .. just slow down on your movements and you can make it a much smoother approach >>
your causing the airplane to move into oscillation by to much input of the flight controls .
Just trust me and do it on your next approach and bad weather and in Highwinds .
The next time you get into this situation, hook up the auto pilot and watch the auto pilot fly the approach and you will see the inputs are very little compared to what you’re doing in this video .

Not low level wind sheer. Looks like turbulent wind conditions close to the ground. He did a nice job keeping wings level. Wind sheer is a much more rare condition where the wind is blowing downward. In that case the pilot would pull back on the yoke, add power and in most all cases go around. Wind sheer is almost always associated with a rain storm, not sunny days.

@@joephysics5469 Wind shear is a microscale meteorological phenomenon occurring over a very small distance, but it can be associated with mesoscale or synoptic scale weather features such as squall lines and cold fronts. It is commonly observed near microbursts and downbursts caused by thunderstorms, fronts, areas of locally higher low-level winds referred to as low-level jets, near mountains, radiation inversions that occur due to clear skies and calm winds, buildings, wind turbines, and sailboats. Wind shear has significant effects on the control of an aircraft, and it has been the only or a contributing cause of many aircraft accidents.

@@flying_yoke I also did so in the beginning. I flew the Tupolev-134 before 1990 and a soviet check pilot asked me what I do with my stupid hands. He showed me that the aircraft fly itself even in thermal and windy conditions. All my quick inputs increased only the effect of drag on the wing. At this time the pilot and co-pilot - both had their hands on the yoke during manual flying. ( never asked why this was the rule.) All my input from the captain side was also the input on the co-pilots body and this young body learned that it is normal what I do. 🤪
After 1990 I got a training on western aircraft - the Boeing 737 classic. An ideal aircraft for all purpose and all weather.
