- The Royal Ballet School in rehearsal, filmed as part of #WorldBalletDay 2018. Find out more at www.roh.org.uk/
The Royal Ballet School is one of the world’s greatest centres of classical ballet training, which for generations has produced dancers and choreographers of international renown including Margot Fonteyn, Anya Linden, Kenneth MacMillan, Lynn Seymour, David Wall, Antoinette Sibley, Anthony Dowell, Marguerite Porter, Stephen Jefferies, Darcey Bussell and Jonathan Cope.
And now there’s a new generation making its mark on the world stage, all of whom trained at The Royal Ballet School - Lauren Cuthbertson, Steven McRae, Edward Watson and Christopher Wheeldon to name a few.
Admission to the school is based purely on talent and potential, regardless of academic ability or personal circumstances and 89% of current students rely on financial support to attend the school.
The school offers an eight-year carefully structured dance course, aligned with an extensive academic programme, giving the students the best possible education to equip them for a career in the world of dance. - Развлечения
It's just insane, how relaxed and "light" they look, even though I know how much muscle strength you need to do even a little part of these things. Impossible 🤩
I like how he explains the reason for each correction.
Moi aussi ! Beaucoup de respect etc... super 😏
They use hidden muscles which you don't see or even recognize. Only a good teacher sees if you don't use them or if there's no instep.
How are they all so good-looking.
Health and happiness. Look at the smiles. Even when they're not beaming, you can tell they're enjoying the work.
Happiness rolls downhill… they must be in a super nurturing environment.
can we have a 24 hours 6 days a week rehearsal from Royal opera house ? Once a year is definitely not enough 😂
I'd love to see "a day at the royal ballet school" live stream or extended video
That girl in group 1, front right is incredible. Obviously they’re all amazing but she just has something 👌🏻
Lauren Hunter?
Yes that’s the lovely American dancer Lauren Hunter. Her expression is wonderful and I love how she really rolls through her feet coming off pointe.
Beth b*
Brian Wheeler pardon?
It's really refreshing to say the least, to see a black ballerina! How beautiful is diversity in every arena in life.
Those tutus are stunning
The opposite of dance moms
Yeah this is the real world
Well they train dancers for careers, not competitions.
Ballerinas absolutely amaze me it is so Beautiful the pain they go thru and the fact that in everything we are taught bend your legs for balance these ballerinas to amazing thing and do not bend there legs it’s just straight is amazing
I wish I could dance there... It’s just amazing! ❤️🙁
Se ven todos perfectos!!💖
I LOVE watching the instruction and explanation.
I’ve never seen a “partnering” class before. I was riveted!
Amazing.
Beautiful
Amazing!
I want to be somewhere like here someday! I love doing ballet
sheeeeeeeees sooo pretty
Whoa. Theyre so good. They really work hard to make it look excellent. Man it makes me feel like such a failure when I see other kids doing fabulous things that I couldn't manage for another eight years. :,(
We all start at the beginning! Don't compare yourself to others, only to your previous self and then you will see how far you've come and grown :D have a great day!
My fellow same namer dont see that often I have a very rare name lol
Quando abrir o vídeo meu olhos foram direto pra Denilson Almeida kkk maravilhoso .
Magnifique

Looks so difficult! I have no idea how they do it.
0:27 Denilson Almeida 😍❤️

Селия Бенсон Mary Lickona is right the title says rehearsal. It’s not necessary to be rude. Have a nice day!
dude ikr i was going to do a lot more partnering starting in fall but it’s being replaced with variations for obvious reasons lmao :(
I wonder if there is a corp for men too?
dream
He it's like dance class
Caraaaaa um menino dai era da Petite dance jdjdjeiebr
sim , Denilson Almeida.
who is the lovely gent teaching?
Valeri Hristov
the teachers are talking over each other and it's a bit frustrating, but amazing dancers!
That's because they're speaking to different students. :) It's not frustrating for the students!
We just hear it as them talking over each other, because they're both wearing microphones, haha, but they're at different places, one maybe talking to a specific student, while the other is making a general correction to the group
With this style of pas de deux class, the male teacher is making call outs for the men and the women’s teacher is making call outs for the women. Some corrections are for both as during the first jumping exercise, he was saying softer landings, this was a cue for the men to control the landing and likewise for the women to roll through their demi pointe so it’s not as loud. It can seem like a lot of talking but after a couple of classes, you learn to hear quickly and listen to the corrections and call outs you need.
Because he is correction the boys and the same time that she is correcting the girls. Not confusing for the students.
What school year are they in? Loved this vid!
Ilina Georgieva i’m pretty sure they’re in the Upper School (16-19 yrs old) not sure which year of it though.
How old are they?
19-21
Are some of them behind the music or is it part of the choreography??
at least in my pas classes the teachers tell us that if were falling behind or getting ahead to just keep going and not worry because its better to be safe when partnering
im trying to watch this video and bill is interruping me trying to tell me about what he likes to wear to sleep. good god. lol
does anyone know what piece of music is playing at 0:56?
Sounds like ruclips.net/video/dMbWdkJAb9I/видео.html to me!
Who is teaching the class?
I know I was thinking the same thing🤨.
Valeri Hristov
@@emilian7052 you don't happen to know who the female teacher is do you?
Which ballet is this? Is it Etudes?
😗
What accent does that guy have? It's interesting
I think it is Valeri Hristov who is Bulgarian.
Glad to see a little black ballerina present, though I wish there were more. I hope to see more black girls, particularly darker skinned black girls who don't look mixed, at this school going forward. Aspiring black ballerinas are usually told they don't have the right 'look' or right body type and ballerinas all need to look the same (pale skin), 'a black girl in the corps will be too distracting'..yet they have no problem using black males. Its just racist nonsense, racist people really don't want to see black girls perceived as beautiful, feminine and soft ,some key qualities of a ballerina in addition to talented, they get really uncomfortable by the idea and so ignore talented young girls and tell them they don't belong there. It needs to change!
There is like ONE black dancer! 😞
Alexandre Barbosa there usually aren’t any 😔
Please don’t hate on this because you all don’t know me but as a minority group in the UK, statistically 1 black dancer for every 9 white dancers say, is not unreasonable. However, the UK has a large Asian community (Pakistani/Indian) who are definitely not represented in ballet/here. Maybe a cultural thing? A lot of immigrant families don’t exactly want their kids dancing over being a doctor/dentist/engineer 😂.
noodlepipkin omg I understand so much I am Indian and my family really don't want me to pursue dance I hate how there are never Indian ballerinas shown it makes me feel like I can never do it
noodlepipkin and you're completely right about the engineer doctor thing lol 😂
Not sure about the upper or lower schools, but the company has several black male dancers. No women though.
Nothing to write home about here. Surprised this is the Royal.
Of course you are...
Beautiful
How old are they?
Late teens
