Where you see an 'S' or any other shape, there will also be one on the other side of the building, or bridge etc. They are connected by a metal bar that goes right the way through the structure, thus 'tying' the two braces together on either side, and preventing the walls from expanding outwards.
Please try not to paint Rufus guys.🤣 keep nice and Warm you four xxxx Hey! And I don't want to see No Nails ( mastic tube adhesive ) holding the side hatch together lol😉😆 xxxx
The s shape you see on brick work is this, An ogee arch is a type of arch characterized by its double-curved shape that forms an S-shape. This type of arch is typically found in Gothic Revival architecture, where it is used to create a sense of movement and fluidity in the design.
Think i'm late to the party haha. Anchor plates, the S shape irons you see on walls. Used to fix a bowing wall by adding strength. Still loving your vids👍
Ohh Rufus 😮 I put a bowl of tomato soup on my coffee table but left my spoon in the kitchen , when I got back my cat had dipped both front paws in the bowl licked them and walked across my cream coloured sofa 😡
These metal plates, which often are shaped as an “S”, an “X” or a star, are called anchor plates (or wall anchors). They are often seen on the outside of old bricks homes and are used to help prevent walls from bowing outwards and collapsing.Dec 6, 2020
Hi Amy Wes,Amy the the big S on the bridge is to hold it together there is a long steel rod go right through the brickwork there will be a big S or a round dish shape either side with two big nuts on each side when tighten really tight it will stop the brickwork expanding and fulling down, you see them in old cottage old farm houses and so on ,hope this helps ,great blog as always love you both take care and stay safe,John 🤫🤔🫣🤭👀🇬🇧🌹🌹👏🤲🤝👏🤲👍👍
Hi Amy, Wes, loved this week's cruise, and those mannequins, what are they all about? Poor Rufus with his Blue Feet. Good to see Dupes doing his thing. He looked really happy. Great that Wes had a couple of days off. Take care
Hi Amy and Wes. That looked like a good days cruising. You got plenty done. Hopefully you’ll get to visit some of the places that you missed on the return journey. Nice looking chips. Have a great weekend. Take care. Nick
The S shape thingys are for stopping the walls from collapsing there's another S on the other side of bridge. Then there will be 3 metal rods that run the complete width of the bridge threaded at the ends then tightened to keep the walls upright 😎😎😎
Those metal ‘S’ are tie bars which literally hold the structure together else it could fall apart…same with the ones on cottages…anchoring the building together…xx
The dog’s got the blues, one of mine used to get paint on his tail and do the house before you realised 🙁There is a tie rod right through the masonary and the “S”acts as a washer. You can get round ones as well .Heidi of Narrowboat Pirate calls them bridge nipples 😂
The s shape thing is a brace to hold walls and obvs bridges together and stops them bowing and then breaking. I've never actually seen one on a bridge before
@@BoatTime There is a metal rod that is in the middle of the S that will go through the entire bridge to the other side where it is bolted to another S on the other side. It works like a clamp. There are also X shaped ones you might see on houses/bridges etc.
We took our caravan to Bath for the Christmas markets, site was next to the canal and looked for you but must have missed you by a week! Look forward to next weeks vlog? Take care xx
Hey, Of course its okay! Its just the superdrug 'colour freedom' in crimson red 😊 I bleached it a long time ago to get the initial base, but now all I do is top it up, I dont bleach it every time

Where you see an 'S' or any other shape they arestructural tie rods you should see the one on the Vyrnwy Aqueduct on the montgomery canal

Loved this week's video. Great scenery and commentary. Poor Rufus, stepping in the paint.
The little building on the bridge over the River in Bradford is the old lock up where drunks were kept until the next day to go before the magistrate.
Lovely vlog .poor Rufus with his blue paw .xxx

Hi Amy, can I ask which hair colour you use and if you have to bleach it first? Sorry to ask a random question that’s nothing to do with boats 😂
