Firstly, the video is even better than last year! Secondly, the scape is beautiful Jacky. Your style of scaping is what I prefer, where the plants and hardscape speak for themselves - not a sand path in sight! You inspire me, you really do!
Thank you so much, Courtney! Your comment means a lot to me! 🥰🙏 I really love NA style and will keep doing this because I really enjoy the aquarium everyday, not only for the contest purpose. Yeah! 😍
Hahaha! I know right! I think that is a fun part of Aquascaping, the scape keeps evolving and changes throughout the time and surprises you with its beauty. 😊 Initially, I would like to have a neat flat carpet, but suddenly one part was growing faster than the other, then the idea of 🌊 waves started. And I love it very much. 😊🥰
To add to so many here, you have a wonderful style. IAPLC seems to give a lot of weight to heavily constructed dioramas, with impact that I suspect doesn't read so well in reality. Sometimes I think it should be called the International Aquatic Rock Layout Competition. Something about your tanks is really fresh and welcoming. Rich, vibrant, lush. Great job
Thank you very much, Richard! I really appreciate your compliments! 🥰🙏 I personally really love Nature Aquarium Style and hence I keep doing this style for my contest. The contest is part of the motivation for me to start setting up and creating new tanks. During the process, it's important for me and my family can enjoy this tank, too. NA style is just right for that. Not only from the front view for the photo taking, but also from may visible angles that we admire it everyday. Have a great day ahead! 🥰
I’m just in awe of your process and development! I love that you stay away from the extreme gluing and really let the plants shape and form the scape! Your visions are remarkable and so very inspiring. I adore your passion Jacky!
Thank you so much for your compliments, Christine! Yes, I don't use any glue in this scape. I think I got much influenced by ADA style on doing Nature Aquarium. Even rocks or driftwoods, it's all constructed and in placed by gravity. 😄 I find it's more natural that way. 🙏🙏😊😊
I feel like the tank appears smaller than it's because of the height of the substrate near the front glass. I think one could say it's a bit overgrown but I think this is the key to this very natural look. It reminds me what ADA / Amano used to do 10+ years ago ;) Crazy you got that much algae with a mature filter + substrate and considering your experience. Thank you for showing this !
Thanks for your comment, buddy! Yeah, algae is always part of the game and I would like to share it so that our hobbyists won't lose heart if they seeing it in the planted tanks. Just keep on going and do the treatment, it will be alright. I love how Amano-san created his scape so naturally and I appreciate your kind compliment on the style that I have for this tank. Thank you. 🥰
Thanks Paulus! I am glad you liked it! 🥰 Ya, the sketch was general idea but when the plants started to grow, the plan also changed here and there, buddy. 😂
Nice 👍 first time I've seen an iaplc tank planted when full of water which is cool since I think most people with non contest home scapes probably do it that way but most pro videos tell you not to.
Thanks Stuart. I normally keep the tank with full of water level for contest tank or not. I don't really see the needs of lower down the water level for photo taking of my scapes so far. 😄
Beautiful mate 🫶🏼 top 100 worthy for sure! Great vid 👌🏼 I have an IAPLC build vid coming but nowhere near this quality, more of a slideshow 😅 Can’t wait to see what you come up with for next year! 🙌🏼👊🏼
Really appreciate your compliment, buddy. It means a lot to me. 🙏 IAPLC is normally a long project, so I would plan to film it whenever I can, so that it would be the good references for hobbyists. I hope it somehow useful. 😊
Thank you so much! I normally set my Chihiros RGB Vivid 2 with the ratio of R-G-B as 100-60-80. I like warmer colours so Red is more and the rest of Green and Blue just tweak up on my liking. 🥰
@@ongwanchoon You are most welcome! :) I kept the light settting at max at all time. Algae issue is part of the process for the new tank. Water change always helps. You can do several water change per week at the first few weeks, it will helps a lot. Theoritically, if we can do water change daily, the algae is very minimal. 😊😊 Lighting is essential for plants growth, so it should be at full potential. You can also plant more stem plants, it will help to outcompete the algae growth. :)
Hi buddy, yes. I used ProCreate to plan the plants layout. I actually forgot what brush to use. It's more on the plant's colours that I was focusing on. ^^
The beauty!!! (subscription but why was the aquas divided into three parts when composing the composition? in any case, these parameters were not used by you when composing the composition. according to science, when compiling a composition, this is necessary. but in your case it was redundant.
Thanks buddy. It's basically the 'rule of third" that similar to photography art. I draw the lines to remind myself time to time in case I forgot about it during the setting up time. 😊
I have not changed it since the tank setup till now, about 1.5 years already. I am still having this tank and things are OK. Normally I rescape every 2 years for contest tanks.
Hi buddy, for this tank, I use very minimal liquid fertilizers and mostly depends on the base substrate with rich nutrients throughout the time. For the fertilizer brand, I normally use Seachem or JBL.
Thanks Daniel for your encouragement. The woods there are "spider woods" as so it is called in Singapore. Probably is redmoore woods in your place. It's added in as details at the later phase of the project. 😊
Thank you, buddy. The tank is big with great plant mass that can absorb high CO2 concentration and in return, it will have abundant of O2 produced as well. ^_^ I did not really measure in details other parameters unfortunately. Regarding the fertlizers regime, it was a lean dosing approach and mostly got from the base substrate rich nutrients. :D
Hey brother, love your tank! Anyway, did u manage to get rid of the algae just by introducing the crew or are there some tweaks done as well to the lighting etc..
Thanks bro. 😄 I normally set lighting period of new tanks at 6hrs per day and gradually increase it to max 8hrs per day when the plants mass is dense and tank is more stable. I do plant lots of stem plants which is fast growing, too. So it would outcompete the algae in the long run. For new tanks, algae is very normal. If it is on hardscape or equipment, you can withdraw water and use paint brush to apply H2O2 on them. Algae will die and algae eaters will eat those quicker. I introduce many types of algae eaters in the tank. Each of them have their target on some type of algae. So the more varieties the better (i.e. Amano shrimps, fire red shrimps, SAE, oto catfish, snails....etc.). Having said that, bigger tanks are normally more stable than small / nano tanks. Once the tank is stable, the algae is very minimal as the water parameters does not fluctuate a lot. Hope it is useful info for you, bro. 😄
i've been looking at several setups, can anyone pls advise why spend soooo much time doing the hardscape design which eventually you wont see any hardscape which been covered or blocked by the plants
Hi buddy, in aquascaping, designing the hardscape is essential for structural stability, visual depth, plant placement, creating aquatic habitats, and long-term aesthetic vision, even if some of it ends up being covered by plants. :)
Hey ! very nice IAPLC tank, congratz ! I have one question, 2 weeks after planting your rotala were actually already very red. Did your have already CO2 ? or just your 8 hours light ? Thanks for your answer :)
Many thanks, Christophe! Yes, I blasted CO2 from the very beginning when first planted. Lighting and CO2 duration at the beginning was 6hrs per day and increased gradually when plants more mature. Max duration for light and CO2 is 8hrs per day when the tank is stable. Lighting is very important for plants colours. 😊🙏
Thank you, Kawshik. This tank I use one bag 5L of JBL AquaBasic Plus as base substrate and some ADA slow released fertilizers in substrate, too. So I don't need to use much liquid fertilizers. Plants also can grow very well. :)
Don’t be mad at me, but I think it is a bloody mess. For me it looks like pure chaos 🤷🏻♀️ I know it is a question of taste I think. 🤔 And congratulations to the high rank of IAPLC! 👍🏻

Hi bro. Beautiful tank. Care to share your Vivid 2 RGB light settings? And whats your fertiliser regime?
