Waylon Jennings played his last major concert at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium in January 2000. Backed by the all-star Waymore Blues Band (“the band I always wanted,” he later recalled) along with his wife Jessi Colter and guests John Anderson, Travis Tritt and Montgomery Gentry, Waylon delivered a moving, exhilarating performance, revisiting his greatest songs one last time.
"Waylon Jennings was an American country music singer, songwriter, and musician. Often credited as a pioneer of the outlaw country movement, a subgenre of country music that is characterized by its rebellious, anti-establishment themes and sound. Jennings had many hits, some of which have been covered by other artists or have become country classics. He collaborated with many other artists, including Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash.
His most popular and well-known songs include "Good Hearted Woman," "Luckenbach Texas," and "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to Be Cowboys".

I've heard folks sing making fun of this song. WHY?? It's has a true to life message about someone trying to get over someone and someone ELSE who's in LOVE with that person and trying their BEST to make them fall in love with her. I read years ago that the back story to this was about a old man in old age home suffering advanced dementia causing him to forget his second wife who had stood by him for years the dementia cruelly caused him to only remember his first wife who had ran out on him years before

this song reminds me of my lost love who now walks in Gods Kingdom thanks to current administration, because of commandant biden and his 4th Reich including pelosi who made sure Covid was in this country out of their hate for Trump before any of the other countries suffered, thanks to them i found my lost love even though im married today, yet my son got to watch his mother die looking through a window he couldn't hold her hand or tell her he loved her and he didn't get to pray with her as she breathed her last, and hes not a puppet he knows who has the blood of his mom along with millions of Americans! but this song reminds me of what i had in the 80s which didn't last long before the break up
