    I'm still learning to accept my afro as feminine and enjoying it without wearing extensions or straightening it. The more i wear it and devote time to it, God has helped me learn to appreciate it

      Yes! You absolutely don’t need to change unless you want to for fun. But the natural softness and volume of an afro is very feminine. Like a flower bloom!

But I have always said that when I get to heaven, I want God to bless me with the most big amazing Afro that can be like a crown of glory. I honestly think it is one of the most majestic and queenly hair styles He ever made ❤

    Your videos have really helped me to be brave enough to be more feminine and have that energy in my day to day life. For so long now I've been afraid of coming out of masculinity for fear of survival but I've realized that I can be successful in life AND be my most feminine self at the same time. I don't have to sacrifice what makes me special as a woman in order to be joyful and successful in life!

    I love how you always go back to "God made us Beautiful." My style is very Tom boy and edgy and pixie cut short but I still want to show that femininity that I'm a woman.
    I also love that you include that we can still be feminine with short hair. I've had many ppl tell me I shouldn't have short hair because I look like a "man" 🙄 so thank u. I just needed to hear that I'm still feminine with short hair

    • @MrsMidwest
      @MrsMidwest  Год назад +34

      YESSSSS. Thank you for writing this because people like you were heavy on my heart when I made this video. I think femininity content can be quite intimidating or alienating for some people if it focuses too much on a set of specific attributes, and that's just not how it works. We are women, therefore, we have innate femininity!

      I had a pixie cut back in 2015 and I still would curl it, style it, wear my earrings and wear feminine (just not super girly because that’s not my style) clothes. You can totally still look feminine because you are a woman! And short hair is different, it’s unique. So have fun with it!

    • @NathComH
      @NathComH Год назад +1

      Once I decided to go short after about 20 years of long hair, and I've never felt more feminine in my life.

    • @raraavis7782
      @raraavis7782 Год назад

      I think, a lot is just in the overall picture. Short hair can be cute/sexy/stylish, if the overall appearance is that of a woman, who visibly puts some effort into her looks.
      But it can be the factor, that drags you down towards becoming 'invisble' as a woman, if it's not balanced by other things.
      Whereas long hair is almost always registered in a positive way, unless it's in really bad shape or something.
      And I'm speaking from personal experience, btw. I had my first pixie way back in the 90s, as a teen. Then went long and longer and really short again and have currently settled on a layered bob. I worn basically every length and style imaginable over the last 20 years and it's undeniable, that hair length changes the way, others perceive you. Especially men. It sucks, but it's true.
      So if that's your preferred style and you want to stick with it, you will probably have to make a little more effort elsewhere. But it certainly doesn't doom you, to look unfeminine! Think about celebrities like Audrey Hepburn, for example. She was a fashion icon and very feminine and cute - despite the fact, that she was petite, with a fairly straight figure and short hair in several of her most popular movies.

      Yes, this has helped so much! But now I'm in constant debate with myself because I'm a 20 year old flamboyant gamine and I can't decide WHAT to do with my hair. I'm a redhead with hip length hair and swoopy side bangs (think Ariel lol) and I can't decide if I want to keep the length or chop it into a super cute vintage Audrey Hepburn style pixie. I'm battling the two extremes, and while I know a pixie cut will look great on me, I haven't ever seen any redheads with that look and I just can't decide!!

    • @raraavis7782
      @raraavis7782 Год назад +3

      @@estherhinds6314
      Piece of advice: If you do do the 'big chop', use the opportunity, to try different hairstyles on the way. Go shorter bit by bit. Get bangs. Because you will never again have the opportunity, to just try different lengths and styles without lengthy grow out phases in between. Take pictures, you can use as reference later. I so wish, I had done that myself! Because you will most likely get bored with your pixie at some point and it's really helpful, to know what to aim for afterwards. Which you can't really, if all you ever knew was really long and really short hair!

She speaks about how to work with your features, body type, skin undertone and chosen style to look your best. I just love how she embraces femininity and the different ways it can exist, always preserving that essence.. It's just this video reminded me a little bit of that; the working with what you have been given and instead of forcing a look on yourself, just figuring out what works best for you and brings out that beauty in you. Absolutely love this video! 💕
    I think one of the most important qualities of feminine hair is HEALTH! I think healthy hair looks the most feminine because it showcases the feminine quality of being able to care well for something, the ability to make something thrive. If someone has super stylized long curly hair with cute little hair clips, but their hair is scraggly, broken, damaged by bleach, an unnatural or unflattering color, etc, it just does not give that same classically feminine appearance that healthy hair would give with even no stylization or accessories. 🥰
    I used to have long platinum blonde hair that was so damaged and thinned out, and looking back it was the MOST un-feminine looking my hair had ever looked! Once I went back to my natural darker golden blonde color, my hair has never been thicker, shinier, and healthier. 🙏🏻 It is now growing so long and STRONG!

    To me healthy hair is the biggest feminine thing, no matter long of short, if you have damage hair it doesn't look clean and soft and fruitful. if you have damage hair just cut them off and grow them back. Like you said effort looks feminine. my mom is a hair stylist and she always told me, short and healthy is better than long and damaged.

    Great content Cait! Love how thorough and inclusive you were with this information. Growing up I wanted light hair but recently I am embracing my dark hair. Now I have to color the grays but I am keeping to my natural color. I also tend to grow my hair long and feel like cutting it short but I have learned my lesson. It takes longer to grow back as you get older. So I am embracing the length. If it gets too long then it looks too sleek and not a lot of volume, then it’s time for a cut. Also I love headbands. I have two that I usually wear if my hair is looking flat or a needing to be washed. One is a pearl headband and the other one is pink and sparkly. I tend to feel better when wearing them especially if I’m not feeling the best about how I am looking that day. But as you said, all types of hair is beautiful. I would have loved to have a short hairstyle and be able to pull it off but it would not work for me. Embrace what works for you individually and not what everyone else says to do. We are all unique with our own style and have different features to play up on. 💖

    Having soft, touchable hair with minimal products is by far the most feminine and attractive. Having long hair will typically go hand in hand with this if you work with your natural texture, but like you said it can overwhelm petite women.

    Thank you! I like your suggestion about styling. 4 years ago I had my hair cut above my ears, and I'm a long hair girl. I did this because I thiought I had too many split ends. I pin curled my hair and wore a circle pin barrette to get over this period. I like how you remarked how you can have long or short hair and still look feminine. I like your comment about face shape too, or just how a person feels more comfortable. I have a square jaw and wide face. Even though I have fine hair I want it long.

    I love how you empathize how as a woman we just naturally look or carry femininity in us and it is just a matter of enhancing it by hair, clothing etc. You inspired me to just be a little bit more gentle with my hair and more creative when styling, looking for what works for me and my natural features.
    What do you think about hair colors? Is only your natural hair color a good look or can you even enhance your beauty by having another hair color? For example Dita Von Teese is a natural blonde but with her dyed black hair she eludes absolute glamour and femininity in my eyes because it looks so natural on her or old Hollywood icons like Rita Hayworth, Marylin Monroe, Jayne Mansfield or form our time Shakira, Blair Waldorf/Leighton Meester...?

    • @MrsMidwest
      @MrsMidwest  Год назад +8

      I actually covered the topic of hair colors in my recent beauty tips video, but I think that hair color is different for each person! I challenge the concept that a lot of people have that lighter hair is always better. I think the best hair color is different for each person and yes, that sometimes means lightening or darkening !! For me, darker blonde was better, which I show in that video. Others, like Lily Collins for example, look better with darker hair too. I think Devon Aoki is a great example of someone with a non traditional hair color for their ethnicity that actually looks incredible!! So yes, long explanation short… I’m a fan of hair dye if it doesn’t harm hair health detrimentally and adds to your beauty!!!

    BIG WAVES for sure! The hair waver is so easy and quick for someone like me who has a long, kinda plain-looking face and finds it overwhelming to spend a lot of time and work on my appearance; it just makes you look a tiny bit more feminine and dressy. I wish I would’ve realized it a long time ago. I do it all the time so I should be using heat protection spray, but I usually don’t because my hair is thriving and doesn’t seem to look damaged 😅

    I did some changes about my hair recently and it completely changed the way I look
    I got a medical treatment from a doctor (not a beauty saloon) that made my hair softer and healthier and silky
    Which saved me so much time from using Heat almost Everyday!
    Also I dyed my hair from black hair to light brown which suit me more bc I have very fair skin
    I got curtain bangs
    I fixed my hair ends .
    I started learning how to style it
    And I'm thinking of getting another medical treatment to make it more thick.

    I’m desperate for hair advice as a round/wide faced girl!
    All my life I’ve always been just a little heavier (weight wise) than I wanted to be. 15-20 lbs, around there. As a 5’5 woman, I did not carry it well and I felt unfeminine. With having a very round, wide face, hairstyles were a challenge - I have thick, textured, wavy fine hair, so I’ve always just kept it long.
    However I have recently reached my goal weight and my face has slimmed but it is still, in structure, round and wide. I also have long limbs and I was once told “never cut your hair short.” I naturally prefer longer hair but I never really learned how to style it so it continues to be a poofy, frizzy mess.
    I’m soon scheduling a hair appointment and I’ve been considering taking my hair shorter (at least to chest) but now that I’m thinking about it, with what you mentioned regarding long limbs, and the fact that my face is wide/round, perhaps staying long and just getting a better cut would be a good choice?

I´m 6ft tall and even though my hair is more than 70cm long (I think thats around 28inches) it doesn´t even cover my chest area yet. Even though it might sound obvious, it´s such a struggle to achieve waist length if you are tall - and this being one of the most flattering styles for tall ladies is a little bit of a cruel joke.^^

      Don’t speak harshly to yourself!! Be gentle. Usually when our looks are suffering, it’s just a symptom of a hard mental or life thing we’re going through. Focus on healing your attitude and nurturing your heart through this tough time, and do one foot in front of the other with a glow up. Get good rest, tidy up your diet, and don’t be afraid to spoil yourself NOW. Don’t wait until you arrive at your destination. Have a minute to relax in the evenings or to take walks. Buy a cute purse or wear a nice outfit even if you’re not pleased with your figure. It will all help nurture a joyful attitude which is the most important element! I’m sorry you don’t feel beautiful darling. I now how difficult that can be. Sending you love 😊

    • @rynmarr8566
      @rynmarr8566 Год назад

      Here some advice, I hope it helps in anyway.😊 also don’t be so hard on yourself. Make sure you are getting sleep, staying hydrated, and taking care of your mental health.
      I know exactly how you feel. First if you can add more nutrient dense food to your diet, don’t just do a big overhaul of your diet. Start slow, add some fruit or a salad to each meal, and get creative with it. Make sure you pay attention to what foods make your body feel good, I like cereal a lot but usually it spikes my blood sugar a little too much for my liking in the morning. So instead of cutting it out maybe I eat something in the morning that won’t do that, and maybe I have a bowl of cereal in the afternoon as more of a snack. Small habits are so much easier to transition into, than trying to get to a “goal weight” super quickly.
      Second, find some type of exercise that you like doing. I was never consistent with exercise because my idea of exercise was almost punishment. Then I realized I was really active when I was a kid, so I thought about what I used to do. I loved playing just dance(video game) so I tried that again and I am so consistent now, simply because it’s fun. At some point I plan on maybe getting a trampoline because I also think that it’s fun. Exercise doesn’t always mean a gym membership, sometimes it’s just taking a walk around the neighborhood. Find something you think is fun.
      Third, I don’t have curly hair but after a horrible perm that damaged most of my hair I had to cut it off. I hated how short my hair was and my best advice for this is see if you can find your kibbe body type, and see if you can find some flattering ways of styling it. If not cute hats and scarves/bandannas.
      Fourth, find some videos or forums about your specific hair type, so you get the best chance at growing healthy hair.

But, fresh out of the shower it was a SHOCK because I had no makeup or jewelry on. I would say, focus on your very beautiful face and play up your assets. Remember, others see you at your best when you leave the house with makeup & earrings. They don't see you with morning "bed-head" & no makeup.

    I wish you somehow included women that cover their whole hair for religious purposes too. I know from your past videos that you once or more did but here it would have fitted too. Mary was also covering her hair and she is an extrem feminine image. But I also see that this video is solely about hairstyles and advices, but the veil that women of different cultures and religions wear 'is' what functions as hair for them to bring feminine tones to their head.
