Hi Lydia, I’m watching this with my best friend at 0.5x and it is so relaxing to listen to! The fact that we have been spending time together watching your vlogs, it has given us time to hang out, chat and discover new books and RUclipsrs! :) :)

I was completely blown away by The Story of a New Name (as well as the first one, My Brilliant Friend). I'm only half way through the series and already devastated at the thought of it ending!

Dimension 20 is incredible! Brennan is such a talented DM and the the intrepid heroes work so well together as improvers and role-players. Dropout, the streaming service D20 is on is the best streaming service out there if you enjoy improv comedy and streaming services that actually care about their workers! My favourite season is either A Crown of Candy, a game of thrones style low(er) fantasy story set in a candyland world, that is much higher stakes than their other seasons; or Starstruck, a sci-fi space opera set in the world of the Starstruck comics which were written by Brennan's mom, that has some of my favourite D20 characters of all time in it.

as far as my D&D characters, I have:
A tiefling oath of redemption paladin who was a lycanthrope in a cult for Malar before the campaign, thus the oath of redemption, and was the the first character I ever played! She is still one of my favourites and I got so emotional when we wrapped up her campaign.
An eladrin fiend warlock who comes from a very important wizarding family and could just never get wizardry. she studied hard but just couldn't cast. so she was approached by mephistopheles, the devil of wizards, and he offered her spell casting in return for converting wizards to his service.
A firbolg life cleric and wildfire druid who is on her year abroad adventuring. She is very naive and gullible and has a wildfire spirit companion in the form of monarch butterfly faerie dragon.
A sea-elf tempest cleric who is trying to find the assassin who killed her fiancee, who also happened to be her princess and the person she was charged with protecting. She is also currently the number one suspect for her people so she is on the run.
A melusine (mechanically elf with a swim speed) magical trickster rogue who is a member of a society dedicated to bringing back King Arthur. she has recently begun having visions and receiving messages from someone who she believes to be the lady of the lake trying to get her to find powerful artefacts in support of the mission to bring Arthur back.

You’ve convinced me to get Dropout subscription! I need more of this gang, I am so obsessed! And I adore your DnD characters they’re so creative with the backstories I love it! You’ve inspired me to flesh out my barbarian wood elf a little more haha 💚

I don't play D&D but I listened to a podcast series called The Adventure Zone which is fantastic, especially the first season. It's the McElroy brothers and their dad playing and is hilarious and at times really moving.

Loved this video! Favourite recent read was Still Born by Guadalupe Nettel. It's in the blue Fitzcaraldo Edition - so you know you're in for brilliant writing. You could also include this one in your 'reading around the world' bookclub (although check the content warnings). PS: I'm obsessed with your wall colour and need this somewhere in my house. I've also never wanted an Oodie because tbh they've all looked hideous. But yours is such a nice colour, they might have finally swayed me after all these years. Will use your code if I get one.

ive recently read the hurricane season by fernanda melchor and it was a very heavy read but i ended up loving it. almost the entire book is written in run-on sentences so you cannot look away from the page, you feel like someone is pouring out their soul before you, just telling you how it is with no decorations. you get to know the perspectives of several characters which explore how poverty affects everyone in a tight-knit community. and on top of all that it is brutally honest about the misogyny impoverished women face.
also a few days ago i found our lady of the nile by scholastique mukasonga, catch a hare by lana bastašić and how to kidnap the rich by rahul raina in a local thrift shop for dirt cheap! books by african and asian authors are so hard to come by here, usually I have to order them on the internet, but i was lucky this time.
