This will go down as one of the most unique experiences in my life! Camping on the back of the Columbia was something that I will probably never forget. Words are not enough to describe the beauty of this awesome place.

I've camped out back many more times than getting a cabin. Try to get a cabin with a window if you get one!!!! If you don't get one with it's own shower then bring shower slippers. The food and drinks are really spendy so budget for it because it's made most of our trips cost more than going by air. The back deck is my favorite if it's not during the cold season so bring something to keep you warm other than the radiant heaters hanging from the ceiling. I have slept inside the observation deck and nobody complained or told me not to. The crews are extremely friendly for the most part. I tip whenever I can but I'm not sure if it's against policy but it helps you get better service and small favors. We always take a DVD player with us to help get through the long nights because you'll tire of sitting in the bar and the movies are so so. It's definitely worth the adventure, at least once in your lifetime and bring you binoculars!

How are the tents secured to the deck? Any extra cost for tents?

people tend to use duct tape to secure the tents. I don't know about cost, you'd have to check their website, but I don't think so

A good question in 20 or 30 or 50 years from now will there still be ferry systems for people to travel around Alaska to get to over parts to get around with because far as I know it those things are good to travel with and my first ferry ride was riding on the Taku one of the oldest ferry that ever set sail in Alaska Waters but it was heart breaking to it get retired and sent to the ship yard along with other good ferry vessels that use to set sails in Alaska Waters but there are only a few of them left it almost makes want to cry to see them gone and forgotten well almost forgotten but I sure hope the ferry systems keeps going on and on for everyone in Alaska and Taku forever everyone Taku forever I raise my cup 🥤 for the Taku.!?¡¿ ♤♡♧◇€£₩¥☆

The vehicle deck is not accessible during the journey, for safety reasons.
