Edit: On a side note, I think that each contestant should get a single strike for any given year, b/c it was clear that Lucas knew more MVP's, but he got stuck on one year.

6:11 Totally agree. Team awards, individual awards, counting stats, best at his position for a few years, injuries cut his career short. Similar stats to Thurman Munson who should also be in Hall. Fix it Era Committee.

Lucas’s ability to remember these lists is remarkable. I wad impressed by his WS knowledge, because I had never come across anyone else who knew that as well as I do. All of these other lists are just insane.
Always love watching Lucas just rattle these off. You should have called him out at '52 but still let him go after. I wanted to see how deep he can go, Hank Sauer be damned (even though we all knew that one)

I disagree with Rollins of being a terrible choice for the MVP in 2007 when he's the first player in baseball history since Mays to have a 20-20-20-20 season along with 30-30 as a SS in a time when not many SS who weren't on the juice to accomplish that. Also, both Utley and Howard missing time that season when it took all 162 games for the Phillies to make the postseason while Rollins didn't miss a game should be accounted for.

Mays only won 2 MVPs?! That just seems crazy for the guy that may be the absolute greatest of all time. Looking through all of those seasons throughout the 50s and 60s, he was first in WAR almost all of them (with a few Hank Aaron's sprinkled in where Mays was close). He was 6th in MVP in 64, when he, at 33yo, had 11 WAR, 47 HR, and .990 OPS (all leading the National league). He lead the NL in WAR 10 times, MLB in WAR almost all of those seasons (besides for occasional pitchers), and only won 2 MVPs!! That is just crazy. They honestly had no clue what they were doing with their votes. I think if I was a voter during that era (between 54 and 66) I would just write Mays on my ballot in pencil at the beginning of the season and only overturn if someone did something historic. Like how most voters surely are treating Shohei right now. Mantle was a better hitter (and who knows, maybe he would've been an equal defender if he didn't play his whole career on a torn ACL), but overall player, no one could match Mays.

2000 is a worse all star than 07. Look at Heltons numbers that season and tell me anyone else had an argument at that MVP. Lead NL and/or MLB in every important hitting stat.
