Yee-shing), is an original member of Exo since their start in 2011, pre-debut. Of course most members started at different points in time, even earlier, as trainees, school years.. Lay was one of 4 Chinese members set to cater to the Chinese market, and all Exo fans there. But they traveled together as a group, Korean and Chinese members together, wherever they went. They all spoke both languages. They were a hit wherever they went. In 2014-2015, out of the 4 Chinese members, 3 left Exo, leaving Lay as the last Chinese member, even till today. SM always encouraged Exo to freely express their artistic and creative sides in music whenever they wanted, whether it be solos, collabs, musical theater, soundtracks.... of course SM getting their cut $$$. After this everyone will know who Lay Zhang is (The King of China) and if they don’t then they must be in extreme deep sleep. IN MY OPINION when he says “Taking China to the World” I think the song speaks for today’s generation about being done with the political issues, hatred, discrimination between countries and wants it to end because its a new year a new decade; things need to change if their countries along with the world is ever going to strive forward and he wants to be the first to break through that wall. Lit has similar pronunciation as lotus flower in Chinese, and it describes a Chinese religious belief of the duality of life and death. In lit mv, general Xiang Yu (in Peking opera costume) is the past life and Lay in modern clothes is the present life. Dragon is the spirit and soul, and the lotus flower and witch help pass along the spirit.
Another meaning of Lotus flower is the symbol of growth and purity because it grows and blossoms out of mud. Some people also use it to describe someone who is pure and innocent in appearance but maybe opposite inside.
