- It's 50th years since the first Lamborghini Countach rolled off the production line in 1974. I compare my QV to the first Countach & look back at what's changed at Lamborghini over the past 50 years.

Seeing that Countach in the shed with tractors is totally Lamborghini and totally Harry lol
You are very right.
When a 1974 Lambo looks as futuristic as ever. These must have been so amazing seeing for the first time back in the 70’s
I was 8 when they came out…looked like a spaceship back then..
They were as kids even a matchbox / corgi version made you go WOW.
So many 1960’s kids grew up wanting a countach.
I’m 67 and remember the Car vividly when It came out. Jaw Dropping vehicle.
Canonball run film did it for me. The countach running away from police.
The old Countach is so much more beautiful than modern Lamborghinis.
Very interesting and the side by side comparison is really awesome.
Harry I think this is the most in-depth Countach video that I’ve ever seen. I love those bravo silhouette wheels and your wheels in gold
It is not the most in depth countach video he has ever done.search the channel and you will see it
Loving this Harry thanks for taking us with you.
Hurrah! Harry & Lambos! 😄 That 1974 original Countach LP400 Looks gorgeous! 😍
That's a 1972 prototype No2 the first tubular chassis. Has the unique window chrome trim and rear lights with sloping central panel between the rear lights. On the production lp400 that panel has straight edges and no chrime trim around the lights all trim painted matt black. It was originally red with Twin wipers as fitted to alpine. My avitar is a stain glass panel I made. I adore thar prototype.
It also has the mocked brake ducts.
Great to have a quick look around the Lamborghini production facility’s. Harry’s Countach is looking good for a 50 years old Lamborghini that is actually used on the road. ❤
The Countach looks SO incredibly small compared to the new car...WOW. Look forward to seeing the new car at the farm for a briefing and test. Thank you Harry.
The Countach is gorgeous, but the Diablo will forever be my childhood dream car, so I loved seeing the cameo in this video. Love this series and looking forward to more of the Countach!
The perfect Christmas color combo with Holidays approaching. Red and Green Countach's.
Outstanding presentation Harry....... Thank you.
What a treat! Thank you Harry❤
Intensely interesting illustrated history of Countach and admire Harry's agility navigating the sill and door to access the car. The weather added atmosphere as we expect Italy in the sunshine.
Thank you. The original Green version is aesthetically pure. A delicacy of line.
Whilst y’all are there, have the Lambo folks update your lighting capabilities and install new wipers
A jewel in the HG library by any measure
That low body car is exquisite
The pure lines of the lp400 are so beautiful and in that colour as well just breathtaking
Uncle Harry deservedly being treated as royalty. They really pulled out the stops to help you give us this amazing content. Thanks as always
Enjoying this with a beer. The wiper works well!
Right when I believed your content couldn’t get better, you surprise us.
Stay in India
The most amazing part about the video was your narration and the b roll supporting the manufacturing process of lamborghini in the past and the countach in particular. As someone who always aspired to create a new supercar company as a child, it opens my eyes to how honest and manual the whole process was to create the icons as we know today.
Ace mini series!!!
Love harrys roadtrips❤
Sept 1974…. That Countach must have looked like a spaceship when the public saw that LP400 for the first time. I know that when I saw what is effectively Harry’s car, I was smitten and was taken in hook, line and sinker. The LP500 has proportions that are just so beautiful. In any case Harry, wonderful video. Nowadays, I’m a newly minted owner of a ‘23 G82 M4, which has more power and torque than a Countach. While it is like comparing apples to oranges, perhaps the only commonality is the speed and handling among the basic term of a GT car. Thanks Harry. Terrific video. Keep on keepin’ on!
Another great video to enjoy on Sunday. I'm glad you're here to put this all together for us, Harry. Have a good one!
Love this video, Harry. I had all the hardback books on every car maker in the world all most, but from England to Germany I took pride in the info I collected. So thank you for the comparison and a peak of the newer ideas to come. Fantastic Harry.
The Countach didn’t sound as angry on start up in the tractor shed it must like being with its brethren 🏴👍🏻
LP400 is so pure. Simon Kidstons purple periscopo is stunning too (1 of 1)
Sunday evening in autumn, and Harry has a new video out of his journey to Italy. I am in cozy heaven
Thats the 1972 Lp400 2nd Prototype. Was originally Red with black seats interior and twin random clap wipers like the 70s Renault Alpine. The First Tubular chassis. Certainly not the first production Lp400. I think the first production chassis was a yellow Lp400 on the Airport brochure.
The central panel on the prototype is angled the production Lp400 they straightened that panel on the production and removed chrome trim. Loads of detail changes.
The Prototype is an automotive jewel. I hope it never leaves Italy sold privately its part of Italian culture.
Four great videos in one week!! Thank you so very much Harry.
The design DNA within Lamborghini is unmistakeable - it simply couldn't be anything else. And I was sceptical of Audi taking over back in the day but glad to see that it hasn't been at all interfering with the products. Lambo's today feel very much like Lambo's of yesteryear and that is a very good thing indeed.
Beautiful visual of the green and red Lambo infront of the black building - looks great on screen...
The Urus is very German looking
Great video! Its nice to see that Lamborghini hasn't "lost the plot" in terms of styling over the years. I remember seeing my first Countach and I remember being surprised at how small it was. Its really fascinating to see Harry comparing the original with his car.
The LP500 concept looks even cleaner than the LP400, pure art in motion.
Thanks Harry for sharing! Love that they brought out the first lambo - the power of Harry Metcalfe 😊
That LP400 still looks absolutely stunning today so just imagine it's impact in 1974! It's testament to how ground breaking the original LP400 was that the new cars look so similar in overall design, just better built, tweaked and beefed up in the right areas to handle the huge performance increase.
Seeing this made me dig out one of my favourite old car magazines. A February 1977 edition of Car which featured an article entitled "Convoy" where a Countach LP400, a Urraco P300 and the, then new, Siluouette were driven from the factory back to the UK. Total value of those cars then, £52k.😂 I've not read it in quite a while but I've just read it again and still enjoyed it.😀😀
Hybrid drive is one thing but I find it inconceivable that ICE powered cars like this are going to be consigned to history, I certainly hope not. What a road trip this is turning into!👍👍
Styling is subjective but the Revuelto is totally forgettable. Still wouldn't turn one down if someone offered it to me. Awesome to learn about the factory and the engineering, top-notch content.
Great post Harry, your generosity towards the original is well placed and comparisons with S K’s purple dream really shows the variations. Great series.. thanks.
First picture I’ve seen of Bob Wallace. Heard stories about him in many videos. Thanks for including the old photos as well! Nothing surpasses Italian automobile design.
Doug deMuro loves this Countach tour for sure😄
the old countach is a work of art
An interesting visit to Lamborghini!
Great video but… why is Harry mispronouncing the Revuelto name Revel-oo-toe…?
Nobody cares mate.
You yourself have got a nice car Harry but just to look at the interior of that early green one made me smile. So lovely with the blocked seats and the door panels.
This bring memories….thanx Harry
In the early 70's, I was 4 at he most. Looking at the design of the LP400 and knowing now what was around at the time, seeing it for the first time must have been the definitive of WTF. A stunning design. One that truly robs the beholder of breath. Thanks Harry for the comparrison. At 6'5", I doubt I could drive yours and deffinately not a 400. One can deram however.....Bw Mike in the Forest of Blackness.
Inspiring video....I love the history and old photos.
I was amazed how much better looking Harry car is to the current model. The Proportions and scale is infinitely better. ❤😂😅
Terrific video, as ever. Thank you Harry.
Now, that's what 40 odd years of progress does in design and technology, think I prefer your Harry.
Fab to see an A-list superstar getting some proper fresh air. Nice to see the Countach too.
This must have looked absolutely wild when it came out
Fascinating, a real insight. Great enthusiasm too and you seem to be really enjoying the road trip. Nice one. Cheers.
"I'm seeing Horacio Pagani tomorrow just to check." What an epic thing to be able to say lol.
In the olden days the Italian market cars used to have white indicator lenses, the front turn signal used to be white light in Italy. Hence the all white indicator and parking light lenses on #1
Seeing the LP5000 face to face with the Revuelto, you could easily park the Countach inside the shape of the Revuelto. Cars have grown crazy large
Proper restomod on Countach would be interesting
Hope they allowed you to film a Harry’s Farm episode about their grape farm ?!
Thanks for such an insightful video. Great channel as always
REVOLUTO???? It is called the Revuelto, even written on the number plates. Revuelto means Mixup, and is not an italian, but a spanish word
Hope you got them to change the wiper blade whilst you were there 😆
Best videos are Lamborghini videos and Countach ones.
I've been there and it's awesome, plus there was a cafe opposite that you could order not coffee but Galllardo drives, So I got to drive my favourite car ever around the roads round the factory. Absolutely epic place and lovely friendly people.
Very interesting to see the -74 car next to yours - so very different in both large and subtle ways, more than I realised. Especially the height difference was quite shocking! And sorry, Revuelto, but the Countach QV will always be the quintessential supercar for me...
I remember back in the 80s how the Countach is considered impossibly wide. But now after 40 plus years, it looked so small compare to the new models. I still love the Countach. I think it still looked the most amazing.
Get the pronunciation right Harry. Revuelto is pronounced Rev_Ooh-Ell-Toe NOT Rev-ol-lute-toe... 😜
As for the rest of the video, pure magic. LP400 for me all the way. An absolute treat to see a close up comparison to that 1st production model. You neglected to mention no open-gate gear shift and the rear end almost looks like a single moulded piece. Uber-cool...
If that lottery win ever comes in, I'm buying an LP400! 🤘
I still like the look of the older 1974 car a lot better..
I’m 29, seeing the production line of the countach is mind blowing!?! Idahoan 🇺🇸, want to visit Europe, Italy might be a good starting line!
This area of Italy (near Bologna/Modena) is great for petrol heads- you have Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati all near each other :)
As always everything is excellent
Loved it. Thank you.
The No. 1 is just so beautiful despite its flaws.
fantastic upload
thanks
great episode
Is Harry trolling us saying Revoluto instead o Revuelto? 😂
Maybe get some fitted alcantara dashboard covers/matts made to combat the reflections?
Harry once again excellent video. Don’t forget the rainex for the screen if u haven’t already. Safe trip..
Great video. It’s a shame the periscope designer didn’t ride a 1970s British bus where the driver could keep an eye on kids upstairs. Amazing history of a brand, which although it has modernised, still keeps to tradition in so many ways
13:41 Love that shot!
Revoluto? That would also be a good name but I think Revuelto is pronounced ‘revwelto’? No biggie - great to see the cars side by side 👍
The LP400 and Miura were so elegant. Even Murcielago had grace. I'd love to see Lamborghini do modern equivalents
I was thinking the same as Harry when he mentioned about having the new car without the hybrid drivetrain. 300 bhp less weight, but 300kgs lighter sounds much better.
2:30 when you think a countach couldn’t get any cooler, Harry turns the lights on
Great video series ‘H’ 👍🏻😀
great watch that good effort
Did you ask about the duff spare parts?
Thanks Harry, nice to see the Count the last good looking Lambo. They are just quick and expensive VW now.
Interesting (and depressing) how few Italian cars are in the car park. 1 solitary Alfa Stelvio and a Fiat Punto 😢
Good video Harry
Wonderful
The Revuelto just needs a huge massive wing on the back of it, like the one that Harry's car doesn't have.
Reveluto? Revuelto!
That first model contach is a stunner ,sorry harry prefer it to your one, lovely clean lines,,,and the colour😊
Lovely video, great cars, especially that first green Countach.... Never understood why manufacturers such as Lamborghini leave delicate parts as the radiators unprotected in the front bumper recesses - that is such a low area right in the debris path of traffic in front, damage is rapid and expensive. Porsche do or did exactly the same, both aircon radiators in our 2003 Carrera 4 have had to be replaced. An easy fix was to install aftermarket grills that fit well in front of the delicate parts, and still look good whilst allowing sufficient airflow to do its job.
All 3 beautiful in their own way
If you bend the wiper arm just a very little bit it's possible to stop the wiper judder but don't use the wiper blade to lever it or you might break the clip
The wheels on the current car look almost comically big with the Countach parked there for comparison
“I’m seeing horacio pagani tomorrow just to check” what a flex
It's always so lovely to see archive footage of the Sant'Agata factory.
There is an Italian movie from 1971 called "Il sole nella pelle" where the main character's father works at the Lamborghini factory.
There are some great shots of the factory floor and reception rooms/corridors.
There is also a nice scene showing a few cars going out for testing (probably with the late, great Bob Wallace at the wheel).

I'm pretty sure your Countach has a Kevlar engine cover🤘🤘
