Thank you SO much for verbally expressing what you were doing! I read online that the IAT sensor was under the manifold!!! Thank GOD I was listening to you describe what you were doing as you were doing it because within the first 55 seconds of this video you not only gave the correct location of the IAT sensor but you saved me so much time, money and headache as I would be scared to attempt to take this all apart and put it back together correctly honestly. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
I have 03 Chrysler town and country and I have to get to my injectors and test them. You made taken off the intake manifold easy with all of the additional attachments . However, you made it seem easy and well worth it, I felt really motivated to get out and do it myself because of your video. Nice job!
You kind of have to DIY this stuff on older vehicles because often there are a bunch of things that needs to be done and everything takes more time due to dirt and age. Mechanic shop doesn't have the time or patients and would cost too much.
One of the best repair videos I have ever seen. Hits all the keys points and simple labeling like for sparkplug wires. My friends 2005 Grand Caravan leaks a lot of oil - I changed the valve cover gaskets but there is some oil coming from the valley gasket. Thanks!!
LOL. I just love how you despise Chryslers childproof connectors. I hate them too. Good video description of how to replace the intake manifold gasket.👍
Fords are even worse. I've had both. The Dodge Grand Caravan I have now has been a lot easier to work on... until this. This one had me swearing as much as any Ford. I took of the wiper cowl and assembly, replaced spark plugs and wires, replaced the front valve cover gasket, couldn't get the rear valve cover off, because of the 2 bolts in the middle, crammed in under the intake manifold where you can't see them. I couldn't get a wrench on either one, even with a mirror and a flashlight. I gave up and put it all back together, I still need to do the brakes all the way around. I've had a mystery coolant leak for awhile. I replaced the thermostat & gasket, and the radiator. Then I paid a shop the change the water pump. Still leaking. I've checked all the hoses. It could be leaking around the manifold, I guess. There's no sign of water in the oil, or oil in the coolant, so that's good. I'll find out soon, because I'm going to order a new gasket and seals, and take off the intake manifold so I can change that rear valve cover gasket. I've never done this particular thing before. Crossing fingers that I don't screw it up. I might have to invent some new swear phrases, though. I don't get WTF the engine is in sideways instead of straight in like most vehicles. Then the valve covers and spark plugs would be right and left, much more accessible, rather than front and rear, with the back ones crammed under the wiper cowling.
Thank you! I'm about to go do this on one of my caravans. Your video will get me through it. I got valve cover gaskets too. I did the rear one on another caravan because oil was leaking. It was a real PITA with the upper intake in the way. It will be simple with it removed!
@@StupidRalph I just saw this! Yup 3! Lol! My wife and I have matching, his and hers, silver Grand Caravans! And I've got an extra black one. I need to do this gasket on another one so I came back to this vid for a refresher. I love my 01 Ram with the 5.9 Cummins but I like the cheaper gas in these vans right now! Lol
It's not a bad design but I think it is overkill. Not likely that a connector will come undone. Could also serve the purpose of the connector being inserted properly (or the red lock won't engage).
I agree but a lot of the stuff he says I say almost the exact same things out of frustration for the design, the fact that owners let a vehicle get into the state that it is in, how with a little more room it could be so much easier etc.
jus a question.. what do you clean your hands with after your done working on the car. because i always need to wash my hands for hours straight to get clean
@@pcofranc yea. some things I need to take off the gloves for though. to reach certain places n place bolts n nuts exactly as they need to be placed . for some reason gloves get in the way .
what were the symptoms that you had before replacing gasket? i remove the wiper cowl whenever i work on the engine (3.3). only takes an extra 5-10 minutes.
Apparently my 05 grand caravan 3.8 sxt needs all the gaskets done ugh! But I bought it very cheap so not bad great condition besides that 200k I guess I expected it. Using this van as a mini camper
Thank you for this video, my mechanic loves working on Dodge Caravans and when he would see another vehicle he would almost cry! I asked him about it and he told me that these Dodge Caravans with 3.3-3.8 L are the most accessible when it comes to repairs, unlike any other card. Anyway, I have the same issue the radiator was just replaced and there is still a leak and my question is how much would you charge for this kind of job?
My mechanic replaced the same gasket about 6 months ago, however, it started to leak again I just was using the 1-liter BlueDevil gasket to stop the leak and it did not rectify this issue, so I had to add the 1-liter Rislone Head Seal Blown Head Gasket Repair solution in addition and finally it stopped. Now I have another issue- I can smell the exhaust gases when I just start my minivan or when I drive it on the streets. Do you know if there is a crack in the exhaust system and how it can be rectified? Thank you.
What is the first hose removed at 0:30 second mark? Mine is cracked and the guys at autozone can't figure out how to look it up. Any help is appreciated than you.
Most common reason is coolant is leaking. In my case (2005 Caravan with 155K) coolant is NOT leaking but oil is leaking from the base of the valley gasket.
I cannot keep track of time. Doing these videos soaks up a lot of time. If I don't do videos, it is less annoying, and I do everything in break neck record speeds, so to ask me one way or the other will not apply to you. You could look at a labor guide to get a general idea. Thanks for watching!
did it throw a knock sensor code? i have an 08 town and country i replaced the radiator and heater hoses but i still smell antifreeze but i see no leaks and it doesn't run hot and no coolant and oil mixing.
Those connectors are not child proof - they are locking so they don't separate like GM and European cars did in 80's and 90's. Would be much easier to remove plenum too.
I love my 3.3 Dodge Grand Caravan, childproof connectors and all. It's 18 years old and hanging in there with few problems.

Removing the wiper unit makes the job much easier.

Take the wiper motor cowl off. There are videos to show you how. It opens ALOT of space in the back and only takes a few minutes to get off.

That bottom bolt placement for the steering fluid reservoir is just absurd.

Them valve cover gaskets look like they seen better days. As it's got more oil on the outside. Then it does in the engine...
Don't think that van is among the living anymore. Probably made the right choice not charging the victim to replace those.
