That is my favorite redesign of yours so far! Despite the praise, I am not quite happy with the official redesign, especially on the backside and you made it that much more elegant as I was missing it to be.
I still dislike the angry lights in the rear, the round lights were so iconic ! making them look like an evil face just for aggressive sake is the complete opposite of what the 33 represents
The original is absolutely stunning. The new one is quite stunning, as well but Frank has improved it IMMENSELY. And his reasons for these changes are well thought out. Awesome video, sir!
@@fitnesspoint2006You simply don't have taste if you're unable to see the difference, and unable to recognize the design nods to the original 33 even after Frank *spoonfed* them to you. That's also why you use distasteful language, because that's all you are, Tasteless.

The production value is super high. It's better than some Netflix documentaries. I really liked the changed air intake. It's a mid-ship air intake, it's exotic, it needs no more jazzing up. Having said that I would happily drive the Alfa version, it's very pleasing to the eye.
One of the cleanest purest automotive designs ever. I mean the original one. It's art. The new one is also quite nice representation. It would be nice to see more of the modern designs to be such an instant classic. Great video Frank. Thanks!
Work of art. These small details are a big difference and the more I look at it the more I feel disappointed that it didn't turn out the exact same way as yours. Phenomenal.

It's a beautiful vehicle indeed, but I agree with every one of your changes Frank. A wonderful video, and clearly a love letter to Alfa and the 33 Stradale. Gorgeous :)
Some particularly well-judged and rationalised evolutions of the design, Frank, particularly smoothing out the sharp angled creases on the hood and rounding off the bottom end of the headlights. I'll need to see if I can get a custom carbon-fibre body kit for my own 33 Stradale when it gets delivered...
I looked at the new 33 many a time and thought "yeah that's nice", but then watching this vid mad me appreciate and notice details I wouldn't have otherwise. Awesome video as always.
Frank's modifications are on the spot. Personally I would shorten a bit that speedtail for a more nimble look. The tail light side plates are definitely too much on the new design so Frank's take in that is the best update of his on the whole design in my opinion.
Agree with ALL your feedback. Been watching you for years and this episode is the best one, considering how special the 33 Stradale is🏆 You smoothed out the front - Bravo!! You improved the C Pillar area - YES ! You simplified but added class to the side intake AND rear of the car - Revolutionary !!! I like how you superimpose your suggestion drawings over the original. Entertaining and Informational 🙏 Keep these vids coming !! 👍👍
I love both the original new design and the new version by Frank Stephenson. If I would be so fortunate to have the choice of either, which of course I don't, I would slightly prefer Frank's version, as it is more smooth and flowing. But I really agree with Frank's praise of the new design by Alfa Romeo, it's nice to see his appreciation of this masterpiece, even if he found some details that could be even slightly better. Loved this video, thank you!
ok, your redesign of the new Countach and 33 Stradale are both spot on. you now have my permission to redesign my favorite car ever, the Alfa Romeo 8C, and i'm not nervous about it.
Some of the elements you redesigned look better, such as the bonnet, the rear end (as seen from the rear) and the side glass. Oh, and I like the front grill simplification. Genius! But the wheel arches are too retro and make the front end looks even shorter. The front lights are too big with the lower side rounded. And the rear end seems too low, when seen from the side, although as I mentioned, it looks great from the rear. Cool shirt and color though Frank!
Higher fenders and diving smooth hood ‘valley’ is exactly what I was hoping to see - but that end-plate treatment to catch that curving line is pure genius!
Frank; amazing redesign; you've absolutely nailed it - tweaked to perfection and the new 33 Stradale was pretty good to start with. I'm always amazed by the effect that details have on an overall design. P.S. Putting that sensual curve back into the space between the two front fenders is transformative.
What a great redesign!... For me, the most important changes you've made are the front bonnet - a zillion times better, particularly the air intake on the side - that change is massive as well and really enhances the look of the car in line with the classic design, the back end re-design - much, much better and, strangely-enough, the repositioning of the side logo - I like what you've done, much better that the original. All in all, your redesign has brought the new model much closer to the classic version, and for the better. Brilliant.
I preferred the sleek and curvier lines of the original and had guessed that it would be the 33 Stradale which would be redesigned for the supercar when chatting with my fellow Alfisti before the launch. When I first saw the new design, I didn't like the high back either and felt the designer "chopped it off unnaturally" . I like your re-design making the back lower, taking in the points of a lower place for the number plate and reflector lights. You have put a lot of thought in the re-design and it is one I very much prefer
Always a pleasure to watch your videos, hear your professional opinion and your reasoning behind the changes. These videos make me feel like switching careers to car design.
Although some changes you made work really well, overall I like Alfa's team design better. Here's where I think your changes were for the better: - In the front I would go for your softer bonnet aproach without those sharp lines. The rest not so much. - In the sides I like what you did with the air intake, the low carbon fiber piece and the Four Leaf Clover. - In the back I would only go for the license plate change and those reflection lights (they seem pulled of a Punto or a Panda), the rest seem better in the original. It's my opinion, usually I go with the redesigns you do, but in this case still prefer what they did. Great video. Cheers!
Amazing video, always feel so inspired listening to such a master of design talking. I love the render format, but miss your old background with your model cars on the shelf!! I think all your tweaks were on point, you transformed the rear with those few masterful touches. I really like what you did with the intake over the rear wheel but I just felt the opening looked like it wants to be a bit larger. Looking forward to the next video, all the best. 🤘🏻
Hi Frank, I usually think you improve the designs. In this case, I prefer the original. The 'imperfections' you have corrected were largely what gave it some character and tension, a bit like the original, a bit like a Zagato design. The 2023 33 is close to perfect, IMO - I think the rear reflectors, while a small detail, were about all it needed!
Beautiful tribute to the icon. Your design is even better, especially the front end! I'm not so sure about the rear end. Your version looks a little bit too big or long from the side view or the wheels look small. I'm not sure but it looks off for me. I love your cleaner end as well, love the complex thoughts and the simpler design. Love the red elements on the tail lights! They were missing for me once I saw it. From the side view the end looks like it is falling down. But from all other views it looks stunning! Love your work. Such a great source of inspiration! For me it is the best modern Alfa Romeo the Touring Disco Volante. For me it is the most beautiful modern car ever made!
I don't like how low you made the rear end. I think it loses the muscular tension of stronger hips the original has. It reminded me of a 100m sprinter waiting for the gun shot. And now that's lost. Looks like it's dragging ass, instead of waiting to pounce. Probably the only modern car that did a low end to my liking is the Huayra Codalunga. (I do like how you framed the taillights between top triangle and bottom straight line) Also, the acceleration on the wheel arches left too much gap behind the wheels. What I'd do is give it less of that at the bottom, but then accelerate the top apex on the arch slightly forward. Front, I'm glad to see you basically agree with my comment on your last video when someone asked about the 33 Design Review :) PS. If you are going to clean up that side intake, why not get rid of the side skirts too? Make it a clean round belly, instead of having a round res body sitting in an angular carbon fiber tray.
AR 33 vs Ferrari 330? Also, I was thinking about this a lot, I'd love to see a video of how you originally designed one of your significant models, I'd say probably f430 and what was then changed for production model and how did it evolve from initial design to best design to deleteing features and why for the production vehicle P.S.: I'm hugely grateful that AR is again doing good and pumping great cars, I think this will also bump the value of 4C and 8C
Both the original design and your re-render are absolutely stunning but I do have the impression that the launch of the 33 untouched contains plenty aesthetic compromises. Harry's Garage went through the design history shown on the wall during presentation to the press. The initial idea looked very edgy as if the team of designers had played with transformer dolls lol. To get to the current point at launch must have been quite some internal struggle perhaps still leaving many reminiscences to the very first render. Of course, I'm speculating but this is just my impression. Both the original design as is now and your re-render are absolutely stunning but I tend to prefer your alterations ❤
I did not know anything like this would be possible, your explanations and the overall improvement on something that seem ok to me is astonishing. Thanks for sharing

😢 You really captured the spirit of the original, that rear redesign suddenly gave the car back it's original character, I was like, waooo there you are 😮. so sad it'll never see the light of day.
So gorgeous. "Manna from heaven" for those of us who see vehicle architecture as art, as the paintings hanging in a national gallery. So thankful, these designs of flair and movement exist in a world of utilitarian boxes that are SUVs.
I learn so much about design in each video... also is so interestering to listen at every detail of what sensation it gives each shape or touch... Also how hard but so satisfying is to make each line match other car line

😢 You really captured the spirit of the original, that rear redesign suddenly gave the car back it's original character, I was like, waooo there you are 😮. so sad it'll never see the light of day.
Amazing! This wasnt a car video on youtube this was an art class!
It was really interesting to watch your redesign and justification. I wholeheartedly agree with your changes. Masterful and also very respectful.
So gorgeous. "Manna from heaven" for those of us who see vehicle architecture as art, as the paintings hanging in a national gallery. So thankful, these designs of flair and movement exist in a world of utilitarian boxes that are SUVs.
This video was so perfect! I love the new 33, but dang your redesign is quite an improvement!
Thanks Reece!
I learn so much about design in each video... also is so interestering to listen at every detail of what sensation it gives each shape or touch... Also how hard but so satisfying is to make each line match other car line
that dropping window line would reeally make a difference!
Frank, what an amazing analysis and redesign!
This is the best automotive channel on youtube. Im so grateful for your videos!
Wow, thank you!
Every video new lesson. Thanks Master Frank! This video one of best online industrial design video imo..
Another mind blowing Frank video. It was great to hear and see his critique. It helped me to see the beauty and appreciate the forms of all three cars.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
