Christ and St Menas is my favourite icon. This brought me in to looking at icons in general. I don’t know why, but it may be the eyes. I love the image of Christ walking with the faithful, walking with me. I also love what appears to be the simplicity of it.
Thank you for this. I love these icons as well. For me it took longer to appreciate and love them. I come from Russian iconography education. At the beginning my favourite icons where those painted in the most classic style. I would even say closest to academic style in a way. Now I love icons that are different. Not necessarily painting according to perfect rules.
