  • Kitchen lithography is a fantastic technique that draws from the principles of traditional lithography but uses items found in your kitchen along with just a few standard printmaking items! You can even use a baren to take the print so you can try this at home without a press.
For full instructions, head to our blog post: handprinted.co.uk/blogs/blog/...
To make your own kitchen lithograph you will need:
    Aluminium foil
    Drypoint Plastic sheet
    Parcel Tape
    Carbon Paper
    Pencil
    Clean cloths
    Vegetable oil
Coke (any cola should work - we used coke from Tesco)
    Clean sponge
    Roller
    Inking Plate
Oil-based etching Ink or rubber-based ink (not safe-wash)
Paper to print on - we used Snowdon
Tray in which to dampen the paper
    Blotting paper
Etching press OR baren and greaseproof paper

It is remarkable how you managed to pull out such thin lines! Or is there some trick with that indigo sheet? Anyway, awesome, thank you!

The indigo sheet is carbon paper - it lays down a thin greasy line that works really well!

Can I use fabric paint to print an image on a fabric?

Should be able to - thin cheap EVA foam stuck onto a piece of board (for stiffness) works really well.

This is great under the COVID19 lockdown, but is there sound? to better understand your process

@1:14 - what is that she's doing? Everything else can be worked out but if I knew what the liquid was I could see what the purpose was. Might have to try an alternate method of treating the silver foil like cheap neat cola to prepare the surface.

Hi Kitty, Sorry - there is no audio on this video. We work in a busy space so there's often a lot of background noise! Some of our more recent videos have audio on them and we're working on improving our videos all the time. Thanks for watching!
