I am so envious of 2023 carbon buyers! I bought a 2022 carbon edition and I HATE the power lift gate… hopefully there is an aftermarket upgrade option where I can get the manual lift gate…
@@js6872 something about slamming that thing shut is so satisfying. It's like nails on the chalk board having to watch it go down on its own in such a slow motion.
I just bought a 2023 Carbon Edition. This is my first Mazda. Honestly, I could care less about the lift gate or the Bose system. I've had it for 2 days. So far, I love it.
Total disappointment… shame on you MAZDA. Pretty much same vehicle since 2017, instead of giving incentives or significant changes they rise up prices and offer a less competitive product than previous years. 21 CX5/CX9 owner
Glad that Mazda is still selling the CX-5, as I prefer it over the CX-50. Would like it to get an 8 spd transmission, and for the turbo models, a wider tire size.
Mazda won’t do this to the CX-5 unfortunately because MY24 is likely going to be the last year of the current generation. That being said, the 6-speed is absolutely fantastic for what it is; however, 1 or 2 extra gears would definitely benefit efficiency; and, I’d love to see 245/50/19 or 245/45/20 wheels/tires on the turbo. On my 2022 CX-5 Turbo Signature, if I ever do decide to spend the money in the future, I’d consider getting CX-9 Signature 20x8.5” wheels and running the latter tire option on it with some Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires.
I just purchased a ‘22 CX-5 Turbo in snowflake pearl. Love it and glad I bought it when I did. It looks amazing in the garage sitting next to my ‘21 MX-5 RF Club BBR in Polymetal grey (my 4th ND and 6th Miata). Have also owned a Mazda6 Signature and CX-9 GT…..yep Ima Mazda fanboy! Love that Mazda doesn’t produce cookie cutter cars.
I read there will be a $750 price increase on CX-50's. CX-5 Premium Plus will be first package to get Bose and power liftgate for 2023. My first thought was that it devalues the Premium package. I know supply chain dictated this but it hurts the Premium

They should’ve gotten rid of the sunroof or something other than the power lift gate and Bose. That’s a big feature for cars. Not very luxury like Mazda
Several years 😫. I settled for the Select Package and I'm excited maybe down the line I can trade it in for the Preferred Package. Thanks for update Jonathan
Mazda announces literally 10 trims for the cx-50, cx-50 premium has Bose speakers in it. Also Mazda "sorry our best selling car, the cx-5, does not have Bose speakers on its premium model due to supply chain issues". At a certain point it's better to just say you're raising the prices and phasing out the cx-5 come on...
Glad that we put our order in back in December 21 Australian CX5 vehicles were made in February 22 Ours wife and my CX5 arrived in March Pick up in May Told that we made a good move in ordering cause now no or little CX5 left
Wow pay more and get less.....plus a new white (that was a $395 adder) but is now $595. I'm a Mazda fan but they better wake up. They have a product line with no hybrids, PHEVs or EVs (MX-30 doesn't count). The current product line (except for the CX-50) is overdue for a redesign and the money maker the CX-5 is/will be under lots of sales pressure with the new Sportage and CR-V (plus others). Maybe that's one reason why sales are down over 25% so far this year
Sales are down because of supply chain/chip issues just like every other manufacture. It has nothing to do with a decrease in demand for their vehicles.
Mr. Sewell, Again, a very informative Mazda update. Much appreciated. The CX5 switch to '2023' is a little confusing. I just contacted a sales representative yesterday and asked about this. She said that the model hasn't changed. Same vehicle with maybe some paint changes (as you mentioned). This means that the 2022 model is simply 're-labeled' as 2023's. Hmmm. Interesting. Well, I'm still searching for my new 2022 CX5. Must be preferred White/parchment WITH a power liftgate. It seems that there are 'a few' out there. Have come across a few (L.A., Long Beach area) but they were pre-sold or pre-deposit. I have to find out what 'pre-deposit' means. And your information about ALL upcoming CX5's being manufactured minus the power liftgate changes things for me. Means that I better consider buying a CX5 (preferred) without power liftgate. Another Hmmm. Not interested in the lower level (select), the pricey premiums, nor the turbos. Preferred only for me. Since this seems to be the most popular package, I'm hoping Mazda increases production on this package. On the local dealership websites that I've visited, there are plenty of Premium level package CX5 hanging without buyers. After my first test drive, I'll have to also consider doing that 'pre-deposit' thing. That's my last Hmmmmm.
I think it means that you need to put down a deposit when you order a new car, since there aren’t any at the dealers right now. Make sure you ask for a buyers order and have them state the deposit amount, and that you can cancel your order if the order doesn’t come in when promised, and that the price stated on the buyers order will not go up and have the sales manager sign the buyers order. Dealers are pulling some things in the market place right now, and you need to look out for yourselves.
@@haphuong412 , I picked up my new CX5 on Tuesday and I got neither Bose or power liftgate. Kinda bummed, but still enjoying my car. I had enough problems finding a White/parchment interior in preferred (sunroof) here in the Long Beach/Orange county area. Congrats on getting both!!
Thanks for the update. I was hoping to get a 23 Preferred. However, I need the power liftgate as I have a disabled wife. Do you think some will still come with the power liftgate? If so, do you think a dealer could special order one that way? If no exceptions, I think Mazda is hurting themselves. Interesting how the chip shortage does not appear to affect the availability of the power liftgate on the cx 50 preferred.
I know it’s effecting consumer plans. Unfortunately there will not be any power liftgates available for special order. They have managed the necessary supply for chips and other parts extremely well for the CX-50 for first year launch and they are making less than half the units compared to CX-5. There may be options for 2022 CX-5 preferred with liftgate available now.
Just get the 2022!! There's no difference between the year models. I just got the 2022 Carbon Edition today (a month after your comment) and it came with the powerlift which I personally do not like. If I could get it without trying then you could surely find one with some effort
They need to fix their annoying radio button on the console. When you turn off the radio using that button, the next time you start your car the radio comes on. I know when I want my radio on and off, I don't need my car turning it on for me.
New mod? Where?… which way did he go?? So Jonno has to be the first time in my memory that a new model is defined by the features that the manufacturer has deleted from the previous year’s release. Get ready for the 2023 Cx5 peeps… nothing new to see here except less than you used to see!! some of the new batch cost less because we’re giving you less. Hardly something to crow about Jonno. 😢😢🤪🤪
That's a BIG difference! I wonder what the mileage would be on that 2021 though, some cars have a good 40K mileage in their first year. Like Uber, delivery driving, and so on.
I'm surprised mazda has not fully redesigned the CX5 again. Great vehicle but looking dated now with consistent price increase. Waiting to see what the cx70 would be like. I'm guessing just like the cx60

In reality, the cost of Carbon edition for 2023 model has gone up. Removing Bose system and power lift gate would not command just $570 decrease.
