  • The so-called 'Tomb Raider Temple', Ta Prohm is cloaked in dappled shadow, its crumbling towers and walls locked in the slow muscular embrace of vast root systems. Undoubtedly the most atmospheric ruin at Angkor, Ta Prohm should be high on the hit list of every visitor. Its appeal lies in the fact that, unlike the other monuments of Angkor, it has been swallowed by the jungle, and looks very much the way most of the monuments of Angkor appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them.

I think the temple should be rebuilt! I believe the temple WILL be rebuilt. Not as a worship to Brahma, but as a museum or hotel attraction for the business conduction of the land. 🙄 We need to worship God today, no more babel, trafficking, abuse, slavery. It's easier and cheaper to build new than to renew, but I think they deserve to renew the old structures up to 22nd century standards! Pesticides may cause cancer. Mosquitos is all I have to say! Maybe malaria took them out. Rice isn't the nicest thing to farm if it has to be grown under 4 inches of water. They probably left for easier food choices in other countries after traveling and being accepted. Someone stayed. Someone always stays, but not at the temple. They probably stopped maintaining the temple, for better housing evolution, it was no longer convenient to be eaten by the mosquitos in the temple, clearing spiders and bugs, when they could be mosquito free other places. The city seems to be fully populated. The wealthy probably left for less mosquito assimilation and acculturization. Lol, but those are my unresearched thoughts. 😁 Yes, I love the trees also. It will probably be many years after we are gone, but enough degrees have been granted cultures for them/us to have engineers and scientists to rebuild! I think the trees should remain a part of the temple and be made historical monumental landmarks as part of the temple. Construction should be tapered around it, with the tree having lot's of room to continue to grow in a protected area created for viewing, for esthetic appreciation of the land. Anything worked this hard to build, should be rebuilt, unless sitting atop of gas sumps that is poisoning the air, or underwater holes underground to cause the whole thing to collapse. It's absolutely beautiful and will bring onlookers and tourists to the land for centuries to come.
