Instruction is provided by John C. Wenzel, DVM, New Mexico State University, Cooperative Extension Veterinarian.
Communications and preparedness are fundamental to the success of emergency response. Mass vaccinations against FAD events are a concern in the agricultural emergency response community; as such, there is a need to build capacity, promote preparedness, and increase easy-to-access educational resources and communication materials for volunteers, key personnel, and livestock producers. Response to animal health emergencies involves multiple stakeholders with different backgrounds and knowledge levels. As a result, development of Just-in-Time (JIT) trainings regarding safe practices when administering vaccines and logistics of emergency response will be critical to onboard volunteers in a timely and effective manner. JIT training will also be developed for key personnel focusing on management of teams and emergency logistics.
