Margaritaville at Sea 2023:DAY 2| Disembark | Freeport, Bahamas | Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort

- Day 2: We’ve arrived in Freeport Bahamas! So, we have to disembark the ship, give in our cruise card, go through customs (with a customs declaration form). Then enjoy a somewhat scenic drive over to our resort.
We will be staying at Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach All-Inclusive Resort for 2 night 3 days. Then we will re-board the Margaritaville.
If you’re ready for blue water, palm tree packed with coconut, crashing water on the beach, then let’s go!!

Hi Dimples! Loved your post! I will be sailing on Margaritaville at Sea with a travel group in October. We have a selection of excursions to choose from. This one came up. The resort looks beautiful, however the two ladies you said good morning to, were rude and not hospitable at all. I never sailed on Margaritaville at Sea before. I heard good things and bad things. I believe it's what you make it. I will also sail Virgin Voyages for the first time in March of 2025 for my 60th Birthday! I can't wait!

A group trip sounds fun! The resort is very beautiful and besides those two ladies, everyone else we came across was very friendly. We spent 3 days at the resort and when new guests arrived for the day. Employees were able to tell that we were staying there not just visiting. They really are attentive and friendly. About Margaritaville, I totally agree with you! It’s most definitely what you make of it! It’s not as bad as all the critics make it out to be.

Is there a bus or shuttle that gets from the cruise port to the resort and back? I would think they would have some public transportation.
There are no shuttles to this particular resort. There are public buses, or as they refer to them as minibuses. This is mainly for locals and can be used by tourist. However, it might be challenging, as they do not run on a timely schedule and may not drop you off at resorts. Just popular locations, for example the marketplace. It is the cheapest mode to get around.
The shuttle to the resort cost you $50? I assumed that transport to the excursion would be provided
This was not an excursion. I paid $49 round trip per person, to the resort and back to the port 3 days later. The $49 was just for transportation.

That is round trip @tampadashcam4204, not each way. The one way on her own would be $15-20 each. I think for the added security, $10 extra is good. Happy Anniversary!

I personally spend 2 night 3 days at the resort.
