The abrupt ending is because it blends in with the next song, "Any Colour You Like", which is a pure instrumental bridge. Really, starting with "Us and Them", the rest of the album plays almost like a single song, with a slight break after "Any Colour You Like". Then the album finishes off with "Brain Damage", and "Eclipse", which really are basically one song. Since those last three songs add up to a total play time of about 9 minutes, you could conceivably do them all together in a single video, and finish your reaction to the album with one emotional crescendo.
Pink Floyd creates all their albums as a singular work. Other bands, like Jethro Tull and ELP made singular works with Thick as a Brick and Brain Salad Surgery. BSS could be cut up easily, but most albums are just that: a collection of songs.
@dania. You mean putting loops of sound together with Pro Tools isn't a real performance? Things were going in that direction, back in the 1970's. Yes recorded their music in 2 minute segments, and spliced the tapes. It might have taken them a day or two to perform a song. They might not have played it all the way through, at one time in the studio, but they played the song all the way through. Now, bands just one perfect take of one segment, loop it, correct everything for time and pitch, resulting in a sanitized and lifeless product.
Front rank died. 18th and 19th century battles were fought by lines of soldiers in a row, called ranks. The generals would sit on horseback at the rear to command.
One of the best albums ever produced! The songs blend from one to another telling a beautiful story of the human experience. It's best to listen all the way through.
A Pink Floyd song, by its own, is generaly very hard to fully comprehend. To get a good understanding, you really have to listen to the full album, from begining to end.
You're Right,, We All Are The Same..I Am Native American (Navajo) & I Have Lived My Life By The Belief That,, The World Is Our Mother And ALL Her Children My Brothers & Sisters. 🙏❤👦👧❤🙏
Most of Pink Floyd flows one idea or song into another. Breaking songs down leads to strange cut offs as the follow up to that cut off was under another title. Time flows right into The Great Gig in the Sky etc.
I had the privilege of standing approximately 20 feet from Roger Waters, playing the entire album, in 2007. 14k people sang every word with him, in their hearts.
which is why you can NOT buy individual Pink Floyd songs on any music service. You have to buy the ENTIRE album. Pink Floyd told them you sell the entire album or none of it.
Seen them live 3 times." Uma Goma" album in 1969,. Unbelievable concert, with about 6 thousand People. With a stage show with 30 ft, gong that erupted into flames as it floating away into space as the stage fog thickened as if the stage was traveling into space. It was a visual show about the song," Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun". It was like being in another galaxy traveling through space "Dark Side of The Moon" in 1973, the album just hit the market as they did their tour for it. It was all new. To hear it the first time live in concert before the album, was just spectacular to witness. A concert that left everybody in suspense and wonder, not a word spoken. The 20 k fans just traveled with the journey it took, absolutely astonishing. Walking out of the building one was sure that we were stepping off a space ship onto another planet. This was the effect of what the true concert was to depict from the album./ "Dark Side of The Moon". Not a sing along. "The Wall"outdoor concert, equally spectacular, with a sound system that could be heard kilometers away. Having complaints from the municipality, residents.

Seems you always get emotional when listening to Pink Floyd. Yeah, seems about right. This song has a lot of meaning right now. Ordinary men fighting someone else's war.
This albums is about humanity going insane. Money is an issue, this song points out how the us vs them mentality lead to the insanity. John Lennon once said something along the lines of “We’ve all gone insane. If you can tell me what the goal is, please tell me, seems we are being run by inane people for inane means.”
Watching and listening here with you brought me to tears. As a teenager in the 70’s, this was the first album that made me realize how powerful good music can be to your soul. As you said, Dark Side of the Moon is Pink Floyd’s “masterpiece”, and it will no doubt be appreciated far into the future, as the likes of Mozart and Beethoven are today.
I'm in my 50s. I can't remember a time when I didn't know this song. I try to imagine what it's like to hear it for the first time. It really is something.
Excellent choice for the world to hear Empress. I feel that greed and ignorance are the two leading causes of manufactured division. My heart and soul has been screaming for the people of Ukraine. The final words from the innocent and Defiant 13 Men and Women on the small Ukrainian island when told to surrender or die two days ago will never be forgotten by me "Russian warship, go f^@& yourselves". Peace/JT
My heart and soul goes out to the people’s of eastern Ukraine suffering under the tyranny and slaughter of a western installed fascist dictator since 2014.

This album "Dark Side of the Moon" has spent 949 weeks on the chart. That's almost 20 cumulative years! It is the best album ever made in my humble opinion though that is highly debatable, of course. You really should do yourself a favor and listen to this album in its entirety. It's a concept album where most the songs run together. Check it out! You will be glad you did.
In an ideal world, you could listen to the whole Dark Side of The Moon As usual, its Pink Floyd and there are lessons You're right again Empress, we are all the same Stay safe
I will be 64 in a few days. Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite album of all time, (I’ve worn out several records, cassette tapes, and CD’s!) and although every song is excellent, this one is my favorite!
This album is one the greatest of all time. Just put on the headphones and chill and get lost in the the music. It is meant to be listened from start to end as each song flows into the next. Hearing this for the first time blew my 13 year old mind.
Greetings from Uruguay, South America. I congratulate you for reacting to the music that marked my youth and I follow you every day. I feel like part of my family. Greetings.
This is as relevant today as it always has been. Maybe some leaders of countries should be listening to this as it’s so poignant to what’s going on today!
One of my favourite Floyd tracks :-) Outling the futility of war and all the uneccesary grief and bloodshed which it brings! You can almost feel the pain..."Forward he cried, from the rear and the front rank died. The General sat, and the lines on the map moved from side to side" Young soldiers meerly used as cattle fodder :-((
The emotions on your face prove that you feel it all. The abrupt cut off is where it bleeds into "Any Colour You Like". As well as listening to the whole album, for your self or for reacting to. Also check out the "Making of Dark Side Of The Moon" you will understand what all the disembodied voices saying "odd" things are about, Samples from doormen etc;
This is always chill out Sunday music...the party is over, from last night, you just relax in the backyard alone and close your eyes and let the sun dapple the leaves over you, playing this, before thinking about the work week ahead, smoke and drink the last beer...I mean, good manners don't cost nuffink do they, eh?
This is one of my favorite songs from PF. Well,.... They're all my favorites but I love the saxophone in this one. Thank you for your honest and heartfelt reaction. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
never or hardly using words your face expressed the depth of your feeling for this music. Anyone can see that you love it. So do I and so do millions of other good people.
When you consider how long ago this was written and performed. It's so very apt today more than ever unbelievable music and lyrics
She's probably the only youtuber who really understood what the song was about. Instead of just sitting there smiling and shaking her head.
the song is about ww1....x
The thing about Pink is , when you hear this song for the 155th time , you’ll get that same feeling !
This was fun to watch , thanks
I just hear us and them for the 156th time and i'll get the same feeling!!!

Women really love Pink Floyd. I’ve seen so many crying listening to them.
Love seeing young people reacting positively to this VERY OLD music!
It's not old. it's timeless
Beware of your words! "Old"...Shhh.
I think of it as more simpler times. Not old
Music has no age.
old is bad, timeless is great
Rick Wright's piano work is SOOOO underrated. The man was incredible.
Never underrated by true Floyd fans this band without doubt are true legends
"Forward he cried from the rear, and the front line died. The general sat and the lines on the map moved from side to side."
Damn, soooooo true !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly!!
And one of my favorites song by Pink Floyd. Nick Mason on the drums. WOW. May he live forever.
Listening to Floyd since I was 13, now 56. Nice to see an intelligent person, nice reaction and comments.

and once more, it comes down to Roger's lyrics, transcending time and people, and keeping the emotions raw.

Uno dei più grandi capolavori musicali
For real. The first time I listened to this with headphones I could understand the lyrics a lot better....it hit me like a bag of bricks.
I love how slow this song is the echoing of the words and the instrumental make you think more deep in every word he says
Us and Them to Any Colour You Want ..
I've always thought this was one of their best - Roger's emotional and political lyrics, Dave's soft voice.
It ended suddenly because it blends into another track
So many emotions in our hearts and "they" choose to rule us through hate, and distrust.
In an ideal world, you could listen to the whole Dark Side of The Moon
As usual, its Pink Floyd and there are lessons
You're right again Empress, we are all the same

I love when the young generation discovers the music of old and realize that the music did not start in the year 2000.

It’s so apt … it’s about war and what we as humans do to each other in our insecurity and because of who said what.

This song & the Pink Floyd album "Darkside Of The Moon", as a whole, is a timeless classic!!
There were a few well known British bands back in the day that cranked out these great, talented and sorely missed musical odysseys..
I love every song Pink Floyd recorded back to the days of Sid. You should do more.
I like her because she just listens. No concert video, unlike all the rest of them. Subscribed!
