So glad you made this video. I was thinking of doing one like it myself particularly to show the yaw correction method, exactly as you do using the eyeball method from above. You should also turn the drone 90 degrees and redo the process, because that's where things get crooked in flight. I usually do the gimbal calibration on the main feet, with the gimbal and front two legs hanging off the edge of the table. But I'm not sure if that's necessarily yielding better results in flight or not. A recent firmware (1055i) added some self-correction in flight, but i haven't had time to really put it to the test (I've been flying my M2P recently, after about two months of flying the X8SE exclusively on some road trips). The crooked gimbal issue is significant, so any help you can provide is welcome.
@@QCGUY Hey thanks for the update! But for clarification, which elements of the process are you doing? The ones in your video alone? Or are you referring to the additional 90 degree checks/adjustments? And perhaps also the gimbal calibration with front arm legs involved versus only the 4 body legs? Thanks for sharing your experience with the X8SE!!
WingsFromHeaven 87 I’m just referring to what I show or mention in videos like this. Anything additional I either had no results or might not even know about it but in the X8 I think I have tried and explored everything I could find or think of when doing things like this.
Great info again Chris. Not sure if there are any new updates for my H501SS Advanced, but if there were I think I would be too frightened to attempt doing an update in-case I screwed anything up :o(
It seems to be s fickle flyer. I gave up on it. The procedure you show has been around a while but myself and Marcus have found that it still goes out of wack a little and sometimes after flying for a few minutes levels out. I have tried 5-6 times to get it right and on some flights its bang on and others it is way off and even others it can be seen to visibly change during flight. In the end... its not the end of the world. But they are aware of the issue along with the list of other glitches/// Have you had the multiple chinese writings pop up on your screen yet...? Its a great drone with tons of promise but it looks like I will be working on X8SE #3 soon... they want the one they sent me as a replacement back and give me another one. I went down this road with Parrot... not sure about a rematch. My big complaint to Fimi when this mode came out was that the black screen portion took up 1/2 the screen... I see its still not fixed. I see some new updates just came out (again)... keep them coming Fimi :)
Gorilla Man Like I said I might be late to the party. It’s working now and if I need to redo it each flight till it’s not a beta fix I’m good with that. It wasn’t as bad as it used to be anyhow. I love my X8 and have no complaints. You and Marcus have quite the time it seems. Sorry 😐
@@QCGUY I think Marcus has had major issues with every drone that he's ever owned...and it's always the drone's fault. Hmmmm...makes you think? Is it the drone or the person?

@@QCGUYYep I have no problem with people making mistakes as we all do.... but when the reviewer repeatedly makes obvious mistakes because they can't be bothered to RTF (and they even ack that in their videos) and then blame the drone for their mistakes AND then when commenters point out the cause of the problem and they respond with "No user error here"...and even mock the suggestions....I have a problem with that. IMO they should have their "reviewer" license revoked...SMH :-) Definitely not worth watching their reviews... I'm jussayin....

Hey Chris. Sorry to bombard your youtube. Would you happen to know if the Fimi X8 SE stops recording when you land? i.e. say you hand catch it and you want to continue the recording... I read somewhere it did, but Im not sure if this is still a thing with all the updates. Thank you in advance.
KuRnZ It’s when you power off so landing or hand catching won’t stop the recording just by stopping the motors. It’s powering off the quad. Sorry, I had to watch a few videos to answer that.
It’s a adjustment in the app as I showed. Mine was of a hair in this situation but the same amount looking far off in the distance while flying amplifies that tremendously.
Hi from Rhyl North Wales 🏴 I have tried this but when I go to recalibrate the process only goes to 10% any suggestions would be much appreciated. Shaun
Shaun Williams avoids electronics, metallics especially with magnets like speakers but most common problem is people do keep it perfectly still when it self calibrates the gimbal.
@@QCGUY thank you so much for your reply. I have tried everything. Even open field but with no success. I'll just have to wait until fimi get back to me. It's a 2019 model and I have no other problem with her except the tilted horizon.

Just twist it with fingers and thumb?
