"My beating heart wanted more, but I'll keep it in, and keep you out" This band never ceases to amaze me with their heartfelt lyrics and uniquely artful videos.
To those of you already dissing the new album: whatever. Crystals has a solid melody with trademark OMAM amazing lyrics. Empire is just as epic as Dirty Paws and with just as much magic. I Of The Storm bears personal reflection the band has never given yet. And this song is just the icing on the already delicious cake. Which is not a lie. I can't wait.

Molly McD I agree, although I've loved every song coming out. This has been the first one that holds true to what OMAM really are. My Head is an Animal felt really adventurous and open, whereas Beneath the Skin feels a lot more enclosed and meaningful. Maybe it's because we see the harmony of both Nanna and Raggi together.

Molly McD I think you are very right. Agree and can't wait!
One of my favorite things about OMAN is that the comment sections are always so nice. It's a relief to see people actually agreeing about stuff on the internet :P
I am still astounded by the fact that this non-English speaking group is more capable of writing music that can be understood better than American bands, even without the lyrics on the screen.
Late reply but it should be noted most European countries, have large English speaking populations, most of which speak it better than we do, and moreso RESPECT the language more than we do. And most of these countries have something we don't really have: Culture. You'd be amazed what it does for the thought process and values of the people that live within it, especially because many European cultures revolve around positive values such as respect, kindness, and humility, further compounded with traits carried over from ancestral cultures which placed a very high value on freedom, respect for nature, obligation to family and community, and personal fortitude. See, America had a culture like that once too...but we exterminated it when we got here.
Another late reply ... I traveled around Iceland in 2018 and everyone I encountered spoke English. It is taught as a second language in schools and almost every Icelander speaks it fluently. In fact, most younger Icelanders speak several languages including English and Danish. I am astounded by your assumption
@@sarahsneddon3865 I'm from Iceland, and the younger people speak English well, but I was born in 1972, and I can barely speak or write, but not everyone is like me, but I think it is because the younger ones are always traveling and have tv and computer to learn from and there is more tourist here now, but when I was younger there were only Icelandic people here, and just a few from another country :) and now you can write using enghlish grammar and that's helps a lot too ;)

for me this song is about some one you loved breaking up with you and the feeling of lose and sadness in the beginning then your pride taking over saying you don't need him/her you're better than that any ways, then realized in the end how much you loved and miss them and that you want them back
Beneath the Skin has a much more grounded feel to it (so far) than My Head Is An Animal. While their first album had this grand sense of adventure and mystical quality to it with all the Nordic mythology and imagery, this seems more secular. More about people, relationships, etc. Anyone else agree?
I want the album now. This album seems like it'll take me back to that awesome place, where I once was listening to From Finner and Mountain Sound years ago...man I miss that place. Can't wait to hear the other songs.
Feeling this song so much....the last part of "I'm drowning" really gives the mood, like feeling trapped in a feeling of anger (hunger for the kill), and realizing how would the aftermath would be if you give in to your hunger, or anger. I see the lyrics as an analogy of someone's dealing with an intense situation, like you're fighting with someone you love dearly, you're afraid you would do something stupid. You both are just being quiet to avoid any confrontation.
Been refreshing my youtube subscriptions every 2 hours for the last 2 weeks just waiting for the next upload. It's literally impossible for them to make a song I don't absolutely love.
Out of all the actors, this one is my favourite. All the others really do feel like they're "acting", but this woman seems to convey the emotion in a very genuine manner.
I love how every time you listen to one of their songs the meaning of it changes! The first time this was a break up song, then a song about your relationship with the world, the it is about animals etc...
To anyone who might read this, So my name's Thien, and while we might not know each other, that doesn't exactly matter because I just wanted to let you know you're truly beautiful, amazing and incredibly loved! If you're going through a rough patch in life, please keep your head up and keep going because you're gonna be alright!! Have a lovely day and don't forget to sm:)e!
Dang, I just started crying because of this song. First song I voluntarily listened to by Of Monsters and Men (Meaning not on the radio) and that was when Hunger was first released. It gave me so many memories, and the nostalgia. Music is powerful stuff, man.
before I saw this lyrics video.. I was thinking she was singing "I'm travelling"... blame it on covid.. the ending of the song was soul stirring.. and "I'm travelling" resonated with a feeling of euphoria of being able to travel again, implying the troubled days are over...When I read the lyrics and realized that she was saying "I'm Drowning", the ecstasy turned into a burst of tears and sadness..like the good people shouting to the universe about their plight.. Lovely lovely song!
Yee, I think it's supposed to represent talking, breath in words, breath out words, that's what it seems like. And colors being the why and what you're saying and emotions and stuff. Drowning meaning being unable to speak because the thing others say is too much and too hurtful or simply not even having the opportunity to talk back. Not all their songs have it, but most from this album do.
*hugs you and gives you lots of chocolates and tea and alcohol* Your friend sucks to ignore such a wonderful person like you! I'd love to be your friend! Let me know when things go worse or go better or if they continue like this and you want to talk about it! If you don't want to talk about it I'll just hug you and give you chocolate and stuff, or leave you alone if you prefer that! YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON AND DIDN'T DESERVE THIS.
A lot of people refer to the people lip-syncing the songs as "actors," but honestly, I feel as though this isn't really acting. Something about this feels so raw, like they are baring their own insides through somebody else's music, and this is more than a performance. You can tell the people relate to these songs so well.
Aside from the beautiful lyrics and sounds coming from this video right now, I'm so thankful to read the comments and know that Im not the only one who still enjoys amazing music ❤️

2:10...... I felt so punched in the stomach! Just... Wow! Will this album ever get here?! We're waiting!!! 😂 I honestly didn't think it was Nanna at the beginning of the song! "This hunger, it isn't you..." It isn't you. I'm drowning. I can relate; feeling mostly rejected by friends and feeling often alone, I'm drowning, as I am not the hunger that others seek.
The end of this song sometimes sounds to me like she's singing "I'm drowning" and other times like she's singing "I'm trying to live." I know in this video it says "I'm drowning" but my interpretation of this song it is both.

Iceland rocks. For some weird, inexcplicable reason, the tiny .... rocky island nation... has given us dozens of world class (rock) musicians. Greetings from Latvia and keep on ro... yeah, that.
Ahh "Hungry for the kill, but this hunger it isn't you" reminds me that no matter how much I feel like ending it sometimes, it isn't my real thoughts, the real me would want to keep going on.
I can't wait for the album to be released next week. I absolutely love it! I am addicted to OMAM's music, its being integrated beneath my skin. It travels through my blood and pierces my organs reminding me that I'm human even though I feel free as a wolf and united as an empire. I can't wait to own this crystal, that's called music.
This song speaks so much to me of the pain and heartbreak that comes after a relationship has ended. And how, after such a painful ending, she struggles to stand back up again. But it’s too hard and it feels like drowning.
i love to see that girl. i don't know that it is my eye or else ..... but she looks so stunning to me that i have seen this song for 17 time till know and forced me to comment. HUNGRY FOR THE KILL, BUT THIS HUNGER ISN'T YOU and her expression .... i like it.
I still remember the first time this came out: high school, 3rd year, class was almost over and we were in the computers' room... I put my headphones on and started crying as soon as the first note played. Looking forward to what's to come!
This band are absolutely amazing , ive loved them forever, the videos are brilliant , so much soul in their lyrics and passion, i couldn't pick a favorite if i tried xx
Especially love Crystals and Empire but still waiting for that 'Little Talks' or 'From Finner' that I'm just going to listen to for hours. These four songs are so beautiful but are all at the same pace. I need some shouting! HEY!
I have a feeling that this song is rather slower and not quite as anthemic! I got a "Little Talks/ From Finner" and even "Mountain Sound"ish vibe from Crystals because it was rather upbeat. WOAH-OH-AH-OH!
i just descovered this band, while my friend was listening to Crystals, so i started searching for new songs, i can't deny that this song just presenting me, my feelings, my deep depression............................. amazing band, and i'm officialy from the fandom so far!!

You are right
I’ll move on
But my lungs, feel so small
I couldn’t breathe if I tried
I lay my head on the floor
My beating heart wanted more
But I’ll keep it in and keep you out
I’m drowning
I’m drowning
I’m drowning
I’m drowning
And for the longest time I knew
There was nothing left for us to do
But I try. Oh! I try
And in this quiet company
There is nothing staring back at me
I’m in need of a sound
Hungry for the kill
But this hunger it isn’t you
Voices disappear
When you’re speaking in sombre tunes
I will be the wolf
And when you’re starving
You’ll need it too
Hungry for the kill
But this hunger it isn’t you
It isn’t you
It isn’t
I grew tall to fill the void
Let me go because you are just a shade of what I am
Not what I’ll be
But in this quiet company
I forget sometimes just how to breathe
Fill my lungs with a sound
Hungry for the kill
But this hunger it isn’t you
Voices disappear
When you’re speaking in sombre tunes
I will be the wolf
And when you’re starving
You’ll need it too
Hungry for the kill
But this hunger it isn’t you
It isn’t you
It isn’t
I’m drowning
I’m drowning
I’m drowning
I’m drowning
I’m drowning
I’m drowning

Have you guys noticed every OMAM song, there's always a "breathe" or "breath" in lyrics???
Not just that, almost all of their songs in Beneath The Skin have "Colour" in their lyrics.
Ian Wang And a lot of song lyrics about drowning. Breathing, lungs and drowning.
The word "skin" is in a lot of them, too.
and the sea. So many about the sea.

I can't wait to own this crystal, that's called music.
how can you not love this song
It is amazing , I love the lyrics , I feel the scence of this album, its imprinted in my soul .
I'm loving the new album so far! But we need the Little Talks of this album!!
MarioAdan Imho, it's Crystals.
MarioAdan it's definitely i of the storm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MarioAdan You're right, there isn't one yet. Perhaps it's being saved.
I think it's Crystals, and I think it was intended to be
I think it's Crystals, and I think it was intended to be
I used to watch this video a million times. And the way she just gets so absorbed by this song and the words and the emotions just fascinates me
Going to listen to this on repeat all day :)
This song speaks so much to me of the pain and heartbreak that comes after a relationship has ended. And how, after such a painful ending, she struggles to stand back up again. But it’s too hard and it feels like drowning.
the more i listen to this song, the more it grows on me :)
best song of the album.
YOURE MUSIC GETS TO ME DAMN IM CRYING I LOVE YOU GUYS

thanks man.
Their music is the kind that can put you to sleep, in a good & peaceful way.
This. Album. Is. So. Good.
I still remember the first time this came out: high school, 3rd year, class was almost over and we were in the computers' room... I put my headphones on and started crying as soon as the first note played. Looking forward to what's to come!
Muita perfeição para uma banda
Their music and lyrics are just AWESOME I love how unique their stuff is. Always love each and every song!
Reconnecting with the old as the new drops- who else is here 2019?
This band are absolutely amazing , ive loved them forever, the videos are brilliant , so much soul in their lyrics and passion, i couldn't pick a favorite if i tried xx
I didn't like it at first. BUT AT THE END IT ALL MAKES SENSE AND THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.
Wow.....I really love there videos, not too much not too little. Sometimes simplicity is golden, this is the golden simplicity.
Be happy what you have already.
Those are in a different album!
i just descovered this band, while my friend was listening to Crystals, so i started searching for new songs, i can't deny that this song just presenting me, my feelings, my deep depression............................. amazing band, and i'm officialy from the fandom so far!!
