RIP, Fred Ward. I loved the Destroyer books as a teenager (what 15 year old boy wouldn't want to be Remo Williams?), and Fred was also great in Tremors and The Right Stuff. I recall seeing this in the theaters more than once, and sometimes I was the only person in the whole theater!
My wife and I read these together in Korea. She read faster and ripped the pages out for me and I would catch up and we would share a good laugh about the stories.
That was none other than "Judo" Gene LeBell that went into the cement at the end. Legendary stunt man and winner of the very first sanctioned MMA fight in 1963. A person of exceptional quality. Look him up!
@@Reprodestruxion Sure it did! Well it did because of that fight. Though it wasn't called MMA, that is exactly what it was. It was the boxer Milo Savage that was across the ring from Gene. Look it up if you like. It is a crazy tale!
@@Reprodestruxion Yes. Though I'm not sure if that was sanctioned by any spots body or authority. Gene himself was the referee of that fight though. Very cool!
A great action scene! The bit with the concrete at the end was precious... Would definitely have liked to see more movies with this character. Fred Ward was a great actor.
I love this scene because it shows how overconfident Chiun is, its not 'till he hears the gun blast that he senses something is wrong. Master Yoda would not approve :)
He's not omniscient. I'd chalk it up to him being fully aware of the hand to hand fight but not expecting the gunplay for some reason. The reaction shot is just there for dramatic effect at any rate.
I saw this one on its release, and was seated next to someone of lesser mental development. During all the action scenes this guy was gesticulating wildly and grunting, clearly playing a part in his head.
rofdl omgosh i remember on rainy depressing weekend... hubby Keith n I loved watching Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins!! miss that damn movie lol I AM BETTER THAN THAT! ~Chun
Remo’s character’s greatest fear was heights. So Chuin’s training involved some seriously terrifying high altitude antics to get him ready for something like this
How did he still have skin on his hands after sliding one hundred feet down a rope? And, all you have to do to keep from sinking into a liquid is tip-toe across it? Thousands of people could have prevented their own drownings by doing this! Am I right?
Don't want to upset anyone but it wasn't the real Statue of Liberty, those scenes were filmed on a mock-up in Mexico - you need to read an early Starlog on the subject. It;s still a nicely edited piece and I agree about JA Preston and I agree, we could do with a new series of Remo films.

We had it on laser disc. We had a few good ones back then.

My granddad handed me two boxes of Remo Williams and Mack Bolan books when I was a kid and I devoured them in one summer.
I loved this movie when it first came out. I still do, but now it's more of a nostalgic sort of way. RIP Fred Ward.
I remember this as Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous and introduces the lovely Kate Mulgrew before she became Captain Janeway
The black guy's face at the end has always stuck in my mind.
I saw this in the theatre way back when. Great film….a real sleeper. I was disappointed they didn’t make a sequel.
This is an impressive scene. The action looks real, and you can't see any obvious substitutions of a replica of the Statue of Liberty.
Because its the actual statue
My hands hurt after watching him go down that rope.

MMA didn’t exist back then but the guy is no joke, a revered stunt man

Thanks for pointing that out. I've seen this movie many times since it's release and never caught that!

The dude watching at the end must be thinking we sure got killer wet cement

“You have to run vewy, vewy fast” and “I’m better than that,” had me laughing my socks off… (You just have to watch the movie to get it.)
Master Yoda is just piece of pigs ear in comparison with Master of Sinanju.
Wow. This was before digital effects . He was crawling around on the ACTUAL stature of Liberty.
Love the looks on the goons' face when they saw that Remo was gonna kick their asses.
Loved the movie wish they made sequels
have you read the books? "The Destroyer"
Favorite part in this movie is when Chun won the pink panther and told Remo that it was his.
I thought the constructor guy looks like snoop dog making a cameo appearence XD
He looked fried! Lol!
he would have been 14 back then :)
he past away? Didn’t know till I read these comments. Speechless…😢

No wonder M8/M7 never gave it back. Classic.👍
Good old 80s movie. They don’t make good movies anymore.
Too bad they didn't make any sequals.

❤️❤️ Thx Fred Loved it
This adventure movie was loads of fun to watch. It is too bad it didn't have sequel.
The dude in the last shot. LOL.
If I was up there on the statue of liberty like that I would be scared to death because I don't like high places like that

no worker will save the guy in the cement?
That would just mess up the work even further. The henchman will be nice and cozy down there...for eternity!!
I think they call that a New York baptism.
Something to remember is that a human body would sink in concrete only to a certain point since the density of concrete is about 3-4 times higher.
And the caustic burns would be really bad.
Plus they'd never pour that much that deep at one time. LOL.

A amazing movie 🎬🇧🇷🇺🇸✌
Guy at the end was like, 'Nope...'
I really liked this movie
Must have cost the studio a ton of time and money to put up all that scaffolding around lady liberty.
It was already there for the 100th anniversary repair and safety retrofit.
That's why they filmed there.
Woah, Snoop Dog was there too?
Il grattacielo in costruzione come sichiama ora?

Sure, no hands literally on fire after that rapel job!😂😂😂
jonhilderbrand4615 Because Sinanju
my lab partner and I used to compete to see who got the next destroyer novel first.
All that scaffolding and not one kicker board on the edges.

Well, movies are fantasy and to enjoy them, the viewer needs a certain amount of " suspension of disbelief " to just go with it.
