@@skatskweeb the Polish dub has a deeper sounding Geralt, less raspier. I also recommend the Japanese dub, as the Japanese VA actually nailed the line between raspy and deep, kind of a mix between the english and polish dub. I was actually surprised when I first heard it.
Yeah, Henry himself has said that he took a lot of inspiration from Doug Cockle's voice acting when he did Geralt on the show, and tried to do it justice. And he certainly did, if you ask me.

And there's an argument to be made that Henry's performance wouldn't be what it was if Cockle's performance hadn't come first. That said, I personally think Doug Cockle did a pretty good job though, but Henry Cavill certainly has the potential to be even better, if his season 1 performance is any indication.

Doug Cockle was my first experience to the Witcher. But after listening to the audiobook and watching the TV show, I like Peter Kenny and Henry Cavill's voice better. I think audiobook Geralt is my favorite.

I’ve been going through the books and every now and then I’m like “okay, I know what that’s referring to,” but so far it’s not been enough that I’d understand anything besides geralt’s death very well. Guys here's the timeline. Books were released between 1993 through 1999. Games on other hand 2007 - 2015. Games' story is nothing that you can find in the books, they are like fan fiction. Netflix show 2019. So as we can see everything precedes tv series. And no it's not Henry's voice, at the time of Witcher 3 release, there was even no talk about tv series. Games was developed by polish company CD Projekt RED and sold in over 30 million copies worldwide. However If you really want to enjoy Geralt's story you should start by reading the books. Not with the game. I know the game popularized this saga but books are million times better.

The girl was accused of cannibalism and killing/looting wounded soldiers on the battlefield. Which was the greater evil? What the 3 men were doing or what she did?
It shouldn't hurt your soul! Shows how well Henry managed to adapt his voice to fit the character, it's already pretty similar but he definately tried his best to mimic it, the fact that she thought it was him is great if you think about it.

Henry's and Doug's voices are both great, perfecto for their roles I'd say, but they dont' resemble each other in almost anyway. The only relatable thing is the grizzly, gruffy voice they do, but thats it.
Henry Cavil did not voice the character in the game, that is Doug Cockle, although Cavil did base his version on some of the characters voice in game. He is an avid player of the witcher series as well as a huge fan of the books too.
What I want to say is AT LEAST WATCH WITCHER 2 (TWO!) intro. Most and I think all of the full CGI are made by the Oscar winner Bginski's studio, and he doesn't hold back.
Game storyline continues from the where book stories ended. TV show is based on books. Tbh, game is still the best storyline I have ever had. Damn, it was a masterpiece.

I just wanna to say (probably You already know that), that The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt is sequel set few years after last book of The Witcher Saga (The Lady of the Lake). But it's non canonical sequel, rather more like fanfiction, however during the game, they are showing a lot of important events from the books-The Witcher Saga (THE ONLY TRUTH LORE AND THE ONLY MASTERPIECE:-)). So by playing the game You will get tones of spoilers for the upcoming seasons of Netflix show.
Tbh i kinda want them to play the video games and spoil the whole series 😂 because they seem very confused with whats happening in the series. This is probably a better way to enjoy the series honestly. Ive played all the games, and even i could barely understand the series either.
I prefer Henry Cavill's voice over Cockle's. It may have something to do with the fact that Cavill is 1,000 times more talented as an actor and it's reflected in the way he uses his voice.
