Thanks for the going over the XTR. Been waiting for you to do this video. I liked it when I first saw it on iCast videos, even though so many hated on it. Considering I have a Titan X 12.5, size/weight is little difference. Excited to see your upcoming rigging ideas for it man. 👍
Great Idea on that snap lock transducer thingy, Chad. Been looking for a larger capacty river kayak for camping/catfishing. Often times I'm running my rear end into brush and or bank to anchor. I'd like see an option for a bridge for the rear of the boat to mount rods for cat fishing rivers.
I'm loving mine, Chad! I'm thinking about putting a Minn Kota terrova quest 45 on the front of it with mega side and down on the motor.. tiny boat nation sells a 9.5" x 20" bracket 1/8" aluminum and I thought I could use the 2 lock and load spots and the handle attachments to reinforce it.. also that little hook hanger cup Holder none of us can get yet.. yeah I might put a piece of angle aluminum in that spot and mount a short Bass boat tech gamble bracket to that to give me a flush "ish" graph mount to the step... I bought this boat cuz it fits in my pick up and I can get on the deck with a 7'6" and a 1/2oz strait shank 8.3:1 blister giver lol and I love that.. let me know if that would solve your transducer issue.. appreciate your content. I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase. I hope more accessories become available by spring! Would like to see what that power pole move PV would do for you lol!
@ChadHooverFishing I'm sure ketch will make alot of useful things for this one. I definitely got my wheels turning on its potential... I know of talk of a new motor for kayaks specifically, but no 1 wants to spill the beans on who and when with no 1 having motorguides to sell us new comers and probably the possibility of wanting more then 12v especially if it's the primary motor
@@fishfpv5020 I would love to hear that works well. I am thinking of the power pole move. As Chad showed at iCast. right now there’s really no kayak motor option.
Pretty sweet rig man, seems like a more refined version of my Nucanoe Unlimited on the Bonafide style hull. I don't think it adds enough capability that I don't already have on the Unlimited to make the change, but if I didn't have Nucanoe I would be taking a serious look at this one. Solid content brother!
I’m buying g one of these 130’s also I am welding myself a upper deck to go across the rear like you spoke of, using 3/16” aluminum plate or hardened poly core board, I can’t attach pic to these but basically 2”-3” flat plate on each side attached to yak, in 45-30 degree angling it up and across like a bridge over the rear area and mounting my storage box and cooler together on top of that and my two lithium 1-150ah, & 1-50ah-100ah batteries under the deck. I use two batteries cause we go out 6-13 miles off shore to platforms out in gulf Mexico to dorado and king fish, you won’t drain a battery but one time and paddle 6 miles in wears you out so bought extra battery to compensate for extra juice. I wished it had a pedal drive so I can save battery peddling around platforms but I’m 60 years old who needs it when electric motors will work. Waiting on NewportVessejs to get back with me, trying to figure out wheather to go with the outboard electric 3hp motor or the NK300 looks like a trolling motor(NK is my favorite of the both), hard to believe the NK300 is 3hp, hoping to get at least 4 mph out of it. I hv a Minn Kota RT74 Riptide trolling motor I can add up front if needing that already cut down using that now mount my battery for that up front lithium 100ah battery should be plenty. One thing is I’m kinda lost on, trying to figure out why some folks hv 2 fish finders mounted beside each other, maybe I’m missing something that could help me out, but my 10” Garmin echo map finder I can set up 4 quads screens on it yea kinda small but that’s like 2,600.00 mounted besides each other. Please educate me on the two finders, guess I’m outdated or stupid lol. Thanks
Thanks for the video Chad! Can’t wait to get mine. I fish mainly around the bay, lakes and little bit off shore. I’m not sure how well this boat handle choppy water
I haven’t had it in big, rough water yet but I purposely took it to where a bunch of wake board boats tow skiers and it handles the big wakes really well . I will be taking it to some big water as soon as I can.
Here is my take as a kayak fisherman with decades prior experience fishing from regular boats from 12' aluminum row boats to $40k dedicated fishing boats If I have to spend as much ($3-$5k) on a kayak as a decent used fishing boat, and have to now trailer and store my kayak same as a fishing boat why in the heck not just get a basic used fishing boat and gas motor and have all the very very significant advantages of a basic fishing boat VS a kayak? Even a trolling motor powered kayak? Fished all last year out of my 12 Sundolphin kayak and most of this year then did a half dozen fishing day trips with a friend in his 1997 fiberglass v hull fishing boat with motor that he bought used in 2020 for $4k put about another $1600 into very nicely customizing it and it BTLS fishing out of any kayak especially on the two days the weather report was wrong and day went from 5-10mph winds to 10-15mph winds which would've played HELL with a kayak but we just kept on fishing as if no big deal because in a 16' boat 10-15mph winds are no big deal to fish in. I love my kayak for grab it toss it in my 8' bed truck and go fishing on a local small lake 10-20 minutes from my home but on bigger lakes by my home 1-3hrs away you just can not beat a regular fish boat especially if taking a 7-10 day fishing trip
I can fish in wind with my kayak just as comfortably and with more control than a Jon boat and it doesn’t sounds like an elf bank on a tin pot from the water slapping the hull. But, to each his or her own.
Appreciate your thoughts on it. I do see your point on the transducer location. I also feel like it's a miss to not have a version of the powerlink plate on the back to run your cable without having to drill the hull. They've got them everywhere else. I will say, I'm still quite partial to the pod system. I agree with you on the battery location in the back. Had there not been a lip, you'd have a lot more options without having to rig something up. Otherwise, It's a pretty sweet rig.
@ True, I just mean, they thought to add powerlink plates for all things electronic but not for the transducer wire. It would have been nice considering that’s their intended location for it.
Great review! The only remaining question I have is how it handles a little chop or wake. I live and fish in Florida both salt and fresh where the wind is always blowing. Thanks
I will be doing that as a dedicated video. People say “go test it in rough water!” But you can’t just dial up bad weather, you kinda have to just wait for it and jump on it when the opportunity presents itself
Awesome… so helpful Chad. I have two ordered now. I wonder if you could answer a question… you said you don’t love the small space for the battery box in the back of the tank well. Can you tell me the dimensions of that space? I want to buy a battery box and wire it while I am waiting for them to arrive and I am wondering how wide i can get a battery box for that space. Thank you again.
I use a nucanoe frontier 12 and my wife has a Kilroy. I’m seriously thinking of keeping those for river kayaks and selling my boat and buying two of these for lake kayaks. I have a lot of electric only and 9.9 lakes around me. It gets annoying towing a boat to only use a trolling motor.
I really wanna see what you guys have in mind for duck hunters. Being a 21 year old college student I’ve saved up 4K which is gonna go towards the kayak and stern motor right away then I plan on building this kayak up little by little. I’ve contemplated cheaper kayak for duck hunting but I decided on this because I feel this kayak can help me fish and hunt with out having to buy 2 kayaks. Know I know this a great fishing yak but would like to see how you guys would use it to hunt
The whole lake can be productive then so it really doesn’t matter. Scottsboro is kinda mid lake, but Guntersville offers a little more in the way of dining and shopping opportunities.
I’ve been using the 240-255 adjustable set right at 250. A 260 wouldn’t be bad, but I like to go as short as I can and still be able to paddle effectively. Unless you are over 6’3”, I think a 250 would be fine. BUT, if you ever put a riser under the seat you would likely need a 260
I'm saving up for one. I live on the Alabama gulf coast and fish inshore. Will the new Torqeedo Travel Ultralight be a good match? Im trying to get a past the bayou near my house.

Most tournaments don’t allow it but if you’re just fun fishing then it’s up to the angler how he/she wants to fish within the manufacturers weight capacity.
I’m not 100% sure. In the videos with Gene and I in it we only did that for the video and didn’t really have the chance to fish that way. Once I get a chance to do it, I will do a video update with my thoughts on it as a tandem.
@ChadHooverFishing i have paddled a Big Rig for years and now a nucanoe unlimited. I have run class 3 on the WV New River and have had the unlimited down a few other rivers in WV. I love to paddle but at 55 I like stability more. Lol thanks for the info. Would love to try one out.
@ 😳 can’t wait. I’m on the fence about buying one and will have to wait for your video on the 5hp. Also extremely curious about the paraglider motor now even though I’ll be using an outboard. If it’s good with the 5hp I’ll now be able to get to the spots I want that are 8-10 miles away without spending hours getting there.
Come vedi questo scafo in mare? Mi piacerebbe molto ma il Peso mi lascia perplesso… attualmente il mio Kayak pesa la metà e già faccio fatica… dovrei usare un verricello
I think it will do really well at sea. It has plenty of stability and volume and it will self bail better than most kayaks out there. When I do the performance testing I’m going to get it out in some big, rough water.
Wow Chad, your idea on removing the paddle holders and placing a crate plate, is awesome. I took mine out to the inshore and agree i needed a place to put my milk crate.
I think so too, but i solved it by just using the two front rod holder in the lower position and it was perfect. I can’t believe it took me that long to figure that out… LOL
I’m going to be doing all of them. But you can 100% paddle this boat. I’ve done it, I’m not arguing with you on the internet about it, but it’s credible when you have done it. What’s not credible is stating something in the comments section that you have zero actual experience with and trying to contradict someone who does. If it could not be paddled, I would say that.
@ my apologies for inappropriate comment. I have paddled many kayaks, under 100 lbs, in winds and tides. I CAN do it, but I choose to avoid it. I look forward to motor reviews.
And a personal testimony: I spent almost 12 hours on the water with Chad last week. He looked pretty comfortable at the end of the day! So it looks like it's an all-day fisher too!
It ain’t free. It’s part of the compensation for the work that we do. But you can call it whatever you want if it makes you feel better. You can even screenshot it and show your friends how cool you are for making such a profound statement. 👊🏻
Thanks for the going over the XTR. Been waiting for you to do this video. I liked it when I first saw it on iCast videos, even though so many hated on it. Considering I have a Titan X 12.5, size/weight is little difference. Excited to see your upcoming rigging ideas for it man. 👍

Can't wait to see 👁 the XTR 130 overhauling! 🔥🎣
Great video Chad! Keith here with Kayak Angler - those Suspenz stands are the 'Yellowfin Rigging Station' - I've got a set, they're awesome.
Yes they are! Im loving them for rigging and even just storing a boat to get it up off the ground so I can stoick stuff underneath as well.
Thanks for the s/o! Happy the stands worked out well for you.
Finally a video . Not sure we're everyone went but seemed like no one was putting out videos for some time now . 👊
Got a lot more coming down the pipe!

the pros and cons are real brotha! love the vid

But mainly in the Dallas area
Man this has me pumped for mine to come in! Just got emailed our boat will be getting shipped out next week!! so excited!! Great video man! 👍🏽
Sweet! Come back and let us know what you think once you’ve had some time in it
Great looking kayak chad thank you for the information
Appreciate you watching!
Looking forward to see what you do for duck hunting
Chad my wife and I are going to guntersville in Jan. Any suggestions on places to stay?
The whole lake can be productive then so it really doesn’t matter. Scottsboro is kinda mid lake, but Guntersville offers a little more in the way of dining and shopping opportunities.
What size paddle did you land on for your XTR? Was thinking 260 but wanted to ask since I haven’t gotten mine yet
I’ve been using the 240-255 adjustable set right at 250. A 260 wouldn’t be bad, but I like to go as short as I can and still be able to paddle effectively. Unless you are over 6’3”, I think a 250 would be fine. BUT, if you ever put a riser under the seat you would likely need a 260
What about using a Navarre scupper transducer mount? Instead of off the back like that?
It would hang below the boat and catch on everything in my opinion
I'm saving up for one. I live on the Alabama gulf coast and fish inshore. Will the new Torqeedo Travel Ultralight be a good match? Im trying to get a past the bayou near my house.
Yes it would!
Do you think it's possible to roof rack XTR130 on a SUV? Or trailer is a must for this beast?
It is totally possible to roof rack the XTR 130 I have a video on Instagram showing me roof topping an XTR 130 and Alex Folgueira has a RUclips video with me talking the in's n' outs of doing it as well
This is the link to Aliex's video
ruclips.net/video/UjwYasZWGZk/видео.htmlsi=G3Zt6-CebNMYNIhb
So how much will you have invested? Boat, motor, batteries, all electronics, all mounting hardware etc! Seems to be over $6000 and at 150 lbs when naked, loaded I doubt if many will like the weight!
It’s not much (if any) heavier than many other very popular kayaks on the market. BONAFIDE just lists all the weight instead of putting things like “hull weight”.
I’ve probably got around $8500 retail value in products on it at this point
Chad, where are you located. is it possible to
see your xtr in person. I live in Gulf Shores.
Huntsville, Alabama at Ditto Landing.
Come by anytime!👊🏽
I would love to see this in 14' model. I am concerned that the wind will push it around, and there will be tracking issues without a skeg or rudder to hold it straight when running with a bow mounted motor. Have you had this issue?
Hans has a rudder coming for it.
There is a rudder coming very soon
Hey Chad! Have you catch, photo, release yet in the XTR? How well does the ketch board fit in the floor for photos? Looking at probably selling my PA for one of these for next season😎
It’s the easiest I’ve ever done it. The 26” Ketch fits in the footwell perfectly right behind the standing deck or you can put it closer to you and put one end up on the gunwale like many of us do already and it works great
@ great info! Hoping to work on one before I pull the trigger and buy it. 😎🇺🇸
100% my next purchase
I've been in an SS127 for a couple of years now, & my only complaint is how the stern wants to swing around when fishing with the wind, even with the flex wings & rudder installed. Does the XTR have the same problem?
Nope! It is balanced out a lot better
What's the thought on this kayak for saltwater? I would like to purchase a kayak that I can tandem, fish from the front like a bass boat, and take out in the bay.
This boat would be perfect for all that!
Its soo big it seems like it may have well been 48 inches wide. Its like the tinyboats i see on FB with less work.
It’s not that big. It’s only 40.5” at the widest point
Was there even a single cut in this whole breakdown? Well done, needs the ability to run an outboard tho 😂
It does have that ability… stay tuned
@ I got one on mine, but don’t make me regret my purchase if that thing can handle an outboard…
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I'm really thinking about getting me one. An trying it out with a 5 horse power motor on it.
Just because I want to go a long detest on the water.
@ I tried a 5 on mine and it wasn’t so bad. The vibration is the main annoyance. But definitely fun.
Thought you couldnt have 2 motors for tournaments so how will you guys solve the issue?
Most tournaments don’t allow it but if you’re just fun fishing then it’s up to the angler how he/she wants to fish within the manufacturers weight capacity.
Man this thing is nuts Chad ima def get 1 later on. Im so small i think i would delete the seat i stand 90% of the time
You can stand all the time and don’t have to delete the seat so it’s there when you want or need it.
Is it capable of mounting a gas powered motor? I’ve only seen lithium motors so far
Yes
Awesome video. Could you put this boat on top of an SUV?
Yes, absolutely. If you go check out my Instagram you will see me loading it on a lifted truck so an SUV would be no problem.
@@ChadHooverFishing That's fantastic. Thank you!
Which landing gear can you use?
That’s still being evaluated at this moment
how easy is it to load & unload & trailer suggestions?
Go check out the loading video that I did on Aliex Folgueria’s Channel
ruclips.net/video/UjwYasZWGZk/видео.htmlsi=GukiAlGPytkCH-Ae
I will be doing a video on trailer suggestions very soon.
@ outstanding !
Is there mounts one back for the micro pole anchors
You can mount it in the back in the center now, but they will have plates available very soon to put them on the sides in the back
Thanks
Would it have a spot to put fish inside of it
Depends on what type of fish you're talking about.
Curious on what speeds people are seeing with a xi3.
Waiting on the mounts to show up and AS SOON as they show up I’ll get y’all some numbers!
@ChadHooverFishing you are the man!
Installation videos on all components you add start to finish
Thank you. I’m sharing some short videos along the way and will have a full walkthrough video once I have it rigged the way that I want.
the kind of trailer to use ie; jet ski trailer or ?
Either a kayak specific design trailer or really anything that can support the boat properly to prevent warping
how does it feel with 2 people fishing on it?
I’m not 100% sure. In the videos with Gene and I in it we only did that for the video and didn’t really have the chance to fish that way. Once I get a chance to do it, I will do a video update with my thoughts on it as a tandem.
How does it paddle if your not a motor guy?
It’s a little slow to get started and get going, but it has a very shallow draft and once you get it going it paddles very easily
All I care about is:
-Does it float?
-Is it cool lookin?
-Can I catch fish on it? 😂😂😂
You can do all three of those very well out of this XTR!
I wanna see this thing with a 5hp on the back. Seen a video with a 2.3 and he got 7mph.
I’m planning on doing that and also put a paraglider motor on it and making a mini airboat just to see how fast we can make it go
@ 😳 can’t wait.
@ when can we expect a video with the 5hp? That’s the only thing I’m waiting to see before I sell my autopilot
Come vedi questo scafo in mare? Mi piacerebbe molto ma il
Peso mi lascia perplesso… attualmente il mio
Kayak pesa la metà e già faccio fatica… dovrei usare un verricello
I think it will do really well at sea. It has plenty of stability and volume and it will self bail better than most kayaks out there. When I do the performance testing I’m going to get it out in some big, rough water.
How does a person get a gig doing this id love to try and review things
Wow Chad, your idea on removing the paddle holders and placing a crate plate, is awesome. I took mine out to the inshore and agree i needed a place to put my milk crate.
I also just put the front rod holders in the lower position on my BlackPak and it works PERFECT on top of the battery spot
no kayak is perfect but not being able to have a in hull transducer is a big minus .
Not a fan of the side rod holder to lay rods down. I feel like that would come a tangled mess
I thought so too, but they are amazing and they just work. I’m glad I actually gave them a try instead of just dismissing them.
That was made for the flounder gigging fool like myself. Hope to own my own by the end of 2025
Those flounder better WATCH OUT!
Can it handle a 9.9hp gas motor?
No that would be too much
@@ChadHooverFishing How about 5/6hp?
Blackpak risers ? I think yakhobby have something like that
I think so too, but i solved it by just using the two front rod holder in the lower position and it was perfect. I can’t believe it took me that long to figure that out… LOL
need more information/reviews of stern power options given its weight. To say one can paddle it is just not credible.
BTW, I now paddle an Apex Watercraft fishing kayak. < 50 lbs. & w/elevated seat. Still a tough haul in wind or tides. Looking to motorize.
Pro: Most stable kayak on the market
Con: Aliex Folgeria won't be able to flip it
He's definitely going to give it a varsity go!
Aliex will get it done 😂
And a personal testimony: I spent almost 12 hours on the water with Chad last week. He looked pretty comfortable at the end of the day! So it looks like it's an all-day fisher too!
Thanks Russ. It’s definitely the most comfortable fishing kayak I’ve been in for all day fishing
Dude you got a kayak for free we got it bro. 😅
It ain’t free. It’s part of the compensation for the work that we do. But you can call it whatever you want if it makes you feel better. You can even screenshot it and show your friends how cool you are for making such a profound statement. 👊🏻
I personally think it's pathetic that "the market" wants heavy af obnoxious little boats that identify as kayaks.. But who tf am I
I agree with the last part…
@@ChadHooverFishing😂
Just get a John boat, they are bigger
Got it!
