Hey Christophe ! I would like to very humbly tell you that the ceiling in the Grand Salon is more like 9-10 feet not 13 or 14. The paneling in the Den is Walnut. Paul Williams was one of the first architects to make lower ceilings popular. He usually kept spaces like the bedrooms and dining room, Den, etc. lower because he felt it was more intimate. I would say most of the downstairs is 9. Love this wonderful place and have every book and detail on Paul Williams I can find ! His works are masterpieces. I pray the new owners will keep all the details and chandeliers which really make the room. Thank you for showing it to us!

This is a Beautiful home that should be a National Landmark because it was design by one of the few Black Architects that designed homes in Hollywood at that time. That is the main reason I would renovate it, to update the functionality rather than to "improve" it. I will note that once you start changing things, though, you destroy the symmetry planned out with exquisite detail by Paul Williams. One tiny example: you mention putting columns in the pavilion. Yes, I see that. However, the loggia there is a bookend to the one across the pool on the veranda. Once you start fiddling around with the original concept, you need real skill to not spoil the concept. Anyway, very interesting tour, a real exploration of how people lived back in the day.

Paul Williams was one of the best architect..The Fountain Cafe at The BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL AND OTHERS WAS DONE BY PAUL WILLIAMS and the Dome at LAX A BLACK ARCHITECT THE BEST🥰👍🏽
I’m stunned to see what this house looked like only two years ago. I went in it this morning and it’s in absolute terrible shape. The pool and backyard is a disaster. It’s so tragic to see how run down and falling apart it is. There was an estate sale, I’m assuming it will be for sale again. I’m hoping someone restores it. This video is great.
Yes I was there yesterday as well for the estate sale and the house is in disrepair, it sold again a few months ago and I was told the new buyers will remodel but someone else told me they are tearing it down :(
Thank you so very much for your kind compliment! I truly appreciate it. If you haven't done so already, please subscribe to our channel by clicking here. ruclips.net/user/christophechoo Thanks again!
I know I have commented on this video in the past but each time I watch again I see more new features! I would love to have been able to buy this home but I guess I'm the odd person that would keep it exactly as it was...I soo love the master suite and the maze of dressing areas and his and her's bathrooms..soo classy! I believe Christophe said this was torn down for new build..such a shame..should be a crime..heck as protective as CA is on everything else under God's green earth including drinking straws they should protect these few left master pieces of art done by Mr Williams...
This was not torn down, it was sold twice now in a year and the new owner plans to renovate. The house I sold across the street for under $20 million and the house next door as well for $17.5 was torn down. Thank gosh not this one.
@@Christophechoo Oh I was mistaken..Thank Goodness it was not torn down! Maybe you can do a tour if you are able once it is renovated...although I would be sad to see any of the walls knocked down..I even love the crazy wallpaper in the one bedroom that most would vomit at the sight of!
There are no laws against tearing it down and there is no neighborhood Historic Preservations Overlay Zone and this is not a historical landmark so someone could feasibly. It would be a tragedy and a shame to do so. I will say if someone put a demo permit, they may encounter the LA Conservancy Group stopping them as that has happened before.
I am glad there is a group in Los Angeles that strives to protect historic archetecture and tries to preserve "old Hollywood". It is important to protect historic properties even if it is not on the register as such. Thanks Christoph for your great tours, so interesting and so much fun!!!
Thank God, because it would be a shame, very shameful. Many of us Ladies DreAM of having a Golden era, Old Hollywood home and especially the bathrooms and closet/dressing room. I would sit on the staircase and just daydream about the people who have come thru their through the many years and the things they went through on a daily basis and major world events. So many since 1937...(sigh) The only thing I would change is the black in the kitchen to a pretty pink. Other than that I wouldn't change one single, solitary thing. PS. LOVE LOVE LOVE your video's Mr. Choo!!!
Oops, sorry, one more thing. I would get a most beautiful 1940's or 50's Cadillac. It would be so PERFECT to leave or come home to this home in that!!!
I would add some red bouganvillea plants on the white lattice in the back yard that covers the patios. I think that would be a stunning pop of color. Love the entrance with the staircase too. I would take out the carpet and make them white marble floors.
Thank you so much for your kind compliment, I really appreciate it! If you have not done so, please subscribe to my RUclips by clicking here ruclips.net/user/christophechoo

It’s so tragic to see how run down and falling apart it is. There was an estate sale, I’m assuming it will be for sale again. I’m hoping someone restores it. This video is great.
Yes I was there yesterday as well for the estate sale and the house is in disrepair, it sold again a few months ago and I was told the new buyers will remodel but someone else told me they are tearing it down :(
@@Christophechoo I’m so bummed to hear that. Thanks for the update. So sad. Glad o got to experience it nonetheless.

This home is spectacular....I would change very little.
Can the person that purchases this property tear it down or is this property protected, I hope it is as the architecture is stunning.
Choo!!!
OH... I would plant a few crepe myrtle bushes because I love the wistful, dream like appearance an colors.
Oops, sorry, one more thing. I would get a most beautiful 1940's or 50's Cadillac. It would be so PERFECT to leave or come home to this home in that!!!
A high dollar & element home ❣️❣️ old Hollywood here 💕💕💕 like the rooms are separate Beautiful home 🌹🌹
I would add some red bouganvillea plants on the white lattice in the back yard that covers the patios. I think that would be a stunning pop of color. Love the entrance with the staircase too. I would take out the carpet and make them white marble floors.
Love to watch your videos they are very informative.
