Aubrey Griffin's game reminds me so much of Gabby Williams' game. All smarts, energy and determination. See the ball, get the ball. Make stuff happen. And somehow, under appreciated.
Ash is quickly developing into an absolute beast!!! All of the freshmen are showing signs of future greatness, poise, and a lot of great potential. They’ll get a lot of playing time so they should improve quickly this year!!! Fun to watch!!!!
Have said this for couple years, get the underclassmen some time on the court, let them screw up now (but they are not), they will be ready for post season. I still think that DeBerry needs some intensive tutoring as a big, not intensive scrutiny. She looks a bit timid and lost, but she is a big and needs someone to help her out to reach her potential, sometimes its a head game more than anything. Be firm but fair, give her some time on the court against other bigs, especially when the game is out of reach.
Glad to see Shade getting confidence but I hope she doesn't become "get the ball, shoot it" like some young players do after some success. They're not always going to go in, nor is she going to be so wide open. Early in the shot clock, there's always a better shot to look for, for yourself or others, especially with AE down low or Paige anywhere on the floor. This kind of game doesnt matter, but I want to see the maturity of not just chucking every time because she now has confidence or feels hot( especially when she's shooting low 40% range and 26% from 3 against D 1 schools). Paige could drop 30 every game, but often doesn't shoot more than dozen times, fewer recently ( but very efficiently). This team needs everyone playing for the best shot every possession. Shade looks a little trigger happy at the moment( not even looking at anything but putting up the shot immediately). I know a part is that she cant create her own her shot as well yet, so she pulls the trigger immediately, but that means she's decided already. With Paige on the floor, she'll always be able to get wide open looks, as will others, so no need to rush. If she stays patient and consistent, maybe she'll develop some gravity and D's will be forced to pay attention to her, which will open up space for O that greatly improve their half court opportunities
If not for shade and kk, and a Griffith, the team would of lost more games. No cocsistincy and very little defense, this talented team if they don't get better as a team, will lose in 2nd round of ncaa's.
perhaps you're forgetting the player who won POY the last year she was healthy, over Clark( not even close). Same player who missed the regular season the following year and led UConn to the NCAA finals where she had zero help. Her NCAA run was all time great, despite not having played all year. Wonder who that could be??
Ashelyn shade was on fire , I love that she's gaining more confidence everytime she plays

She's not as slick as some others, but she definitely gets it done.

Geno and his staff are pure genius.
