She is so good, Gino is saying whoa!!!. I like how he said to quit passing so much at close games. Paige's talented instincts for the game are ALMOST unbelievable.

Nobody seems to recognize what a terrific defense UCONN was playing against. Paige found open people continually when user pressure. UCONNs style makes then vulnerable to teams as deliberate as Florida.

All this from her freshman year. She was a freshman! How good can she get?!?

She can just keep developing her strength and entire game as a number option against inferior competition. Just hope she doesnt lose motivation like Ellena. Paige could be in that same company with Delle Dona and Taurasi.

She will literally dominate the WNBA. She’s the one woman player who plays as skilled as a man

@@charlesg7926 WNBA players are more skilled than NBA players. Most male hoopers are more agile but everyone is dunking at the pro level unless you cant jump at all like some pros.

*Defense in women's basketball is the biggest issue. It's almost nonexistent. The reason, in my opinion, is that defense is the aspect of the game that requires the most courage and toughness and, well, women, don't have whole lot of it. I'd like to see tougher D, but all I see is softness and timidity. Get in the face of the attacker and block or swipe the ball. What's the problem?*

So does Paige have her own marketing company? The frigging season is over! We all know she is a good player. I'm not even sure she was player of the year. There were many players who had as good or better stats as she had. Way too much hype.

you seem angry , and she won every award you could as a freshman . its not about stats its how she plays and how she is able to do things that others cant

This young lady is a credit to her folks, teammates, coaches, but most of all to both herself, and the world. Her stats could be even better, but her team would not. She is about the team, and making those around her better. Her humor and grit, her lightheartedness while maintaining herself in the seriousness of the task at hand.
Uconn has been a machine of great people, who are also great team players, and athletes. You go Paige, looking fwd to seeing you, and the charisma of your team and coach. You picked right. Your coach is magnificent, no matter how you cut it, it is a match made in hea, wait, Uconn, lol

Can’t judge on stats alone, but they matter, and you have to look at the right ones.....the more advanced, comprehensive stats provided by Synergy and herhoopstats. For example, Paige #1 in win shares, followed by Bell, Smith and Boston. Not only was Paige #1, the delta between her and #2 was the same as the delta between #2 and #15! She was also #1 in defensive win shares. Paige’s Offensive player rating was #2 amongst top players( Hamilton #1) and much better than the other realistic candidates. Her Defensive player rating was top Ten and almost identical to Smith, and better than all the other candidates. She shot a better % from 3, had more steals, fewer turnovers and a better assist/TO ratio all the other legitimate candidates. Her Synergy stats were described by a leading analyst as the best aggregate they’d ever seen. More importantly, Paige was a freshman, with all the pressure in the world as the #1 recruit trying to lead Uconn back to it’s place atop the NCAA. She had to lead a team with 3 juniors who were all top recruits and were expecting to be the stars, and drag along 6 other freshmen. Her ability to do exactly what was needed, when it was needed, particularly in the clutch, had Geno and many of the game’s greatest players in awe, and they said so. He skills are far greater than anyone else’s, but it’s her IQ, leadership and clutch play that have enamored so many. There aren’t great stats for those yet, which is why stats alone are not enough. In Paige’s case, her other attributes are more important and distinguish her even further from the others, and yet her advanced stats already define her as the clear best. Combine both aspects, and it’s clear why everyone named her POY, and the voting wasn’t close. FYI, the “hype” around Paige was created on RUclips, by MALE basketball fans, long before the main stream media knew who she was or corporate sponsors took an interest. Her hype was genuine, it came from fans with ZERO to gain, they simply appreciated the genius in her game. That’s as real as it gets. If you want to look at a media hype creation not backed by real quality analysis of the advanced stats, look no further than Caitlin Clark, who’s nothing more than a volume shooter who doesn’t protect the ball and is allergic to defense. The MSN needed a rival for Paige, so....
