    Matt I don't know why but I think I must've missed this video. I am so, so pleased that you listed the Eden Origin Tenor because I have one! Was the first Uke I bought from you. One thing I love about it is the volumn. It really packs a punch and is chimy. I would love to try a low G on it though and wondered if you had any string suggestions? Not that you asked, and I understand this is YOUR favourite list, but the winner for me on your list is Millar. There is something very special about those instruments made by Millar. Again, not that you asked, but I just had to mention that my favourite for this year .. so far .. is the aNueNue UC10-GG Golden Glow I bought from you. What a belting instrument for the price! I just love playing it and play it a lot. It is so easy to play and so comfortable. I wish I could buy one in every colour hahaha! Thanks Matt.

      Thanks Wendy - and I'm waiting for some new Edens to arrive, long overdue! Glad you like yours. As they have Worth Browns on, people tend to like to go for a Worth Brown low G, but for me, the Fremont is a livelier option that stands up to the chiming quality you mention.

    I love the sound of your number one. Wow! I’d love to try a tenor. Don’t laugh, but do you ship to Hawai’i?
    Also can you recommend a great sounding, reasonably priced concert uke with a pick up? I am mostly a strummer, but have been invited to play some gigs here.
    I have a concert acoustic Kala (I think it’s a KA ACP CTG) I like the sound of it a lot- it has good volume and is clean and quite pretty. The top fret is very close to the top of the neck, so Bb is a struggle for my old lady hands to play. Would love a cutaway, but sound is more important. (Arm rest is a bonus- not necessary.)
    Your recommendations welcome. Mahalo!

      Just at the moment I am asking people to tell me what charges they have and then refunding that amount. No baritones? Can't really be a Top 10 without a single bari in the list, can it?

    • @WorldofUkes
      @WorldofUkes  3 года назад +3

      My top ten of my favourites can, and should be what I decide. I did go to great lengths to point out they were a) my favourites b) my opinion and c) that not being in the list didn't mean it wasn't good.
      I did mention the Uluru Hoa Hana baritone, which would have been in potentially, if I'd had any to demonstrate and include.
      From what I had available, I felt these were the best ten. Baritones are in short supply at the moment and I didn't want to include one of the few I had for the sake of it.
      Finally, in my opinion, manufacturers have not excelled with baritones of late - they've not kept up the pace and improvement in baritone scale like they have with other sizes (which is why we commissioned the Hoa Hana in the first place).
      So, rest assured, no baritone bias - but ukulele makers need to do better!

    • @WorldofUkes
      @WorldofUkes  2 года назад

      You must have heard of 100 year old Kiwaya?
      Depending on where you are in the world, you'll get different brand availability. I'm also not a specialist in Hawaiian made instruments so it's important to note (as I say in the video) that these are my favourites that I stock in my store. Some of my choices are inexpensive. Some are, despite having played many thousands of ukes, new even to me, like Millar.
      I'm not quite sure what you're getting at with your comment, but I'd stand by my choices from instruments available in the UK any day.

    this is a list of 10 ukuleles that will make this guy shitloads of money

    • @WorldofUkes
      @WorldofUkes  2 года назад +3

      This is a list of ten ukuleles that are my favourites, based on my experience of over a decade as an independent, specialist retailer of ukes. Of course I want to sell ukuleles - that's my business. The number one in the list is £109, and I sell instruments up to £1,699 - so it is my honest opinion, not skewed by maximising profits.
      People sell ukuleles, it's a fact of life. I would say it's best, if someone wants one, that they buy them from someone who cares about the instruments and won't pressure or push people towards things they don't need. If they do, from me, yes, I'll put food on the table and they'll get good service and advice. Is there something wrong with that?
