Hi guys, I'm playing catch up with your videos since I've been a little under the weather. Happy to see you all made it to Vietnam safely considering the little scare in the air. Regardless, your first Vietnam installment looks awesome and I'm about to check out the rest of them. Incidentally, the resort where you're staying looks quite comfortable and relaxing. Stay awesome! :)
We laughed in Vietnam as a seller on the street once who obviously didn't quite get the "Buy one get one free" and was saying "buy one , Get one" - typical!! ha ha you would hope hey!! lol
+JSTFD Cool! A lot more videos to come from Vietnam for sure, possibly be here for 3 months or more depending on where we settle :) Exciting times ahead - thanks for watching!
Wow, loved your videos ! What camera do you guys use? We just came back from Hoi An. And we agree, Hoi An surprisingly was very busy every night. - Malie
+JohnMalieTV Thanks, appreciate that! You guys have some sick content as well, your drone footage is so freakin crisp I'm digging it. We use the G7x v2, nothing special or massive, but with the right settings can get what you need without carrying a giant gimble or DSLR.
+Solmadrid Vazquez Good to know man, I'll definitely reach out if we head to Hanoi or have time when we (eventually!) leave Vietnam for the next (unknown) spot haha
Love the videos. My wife and I are looking to travel from Hanoi to Hoi An for our second trip to Vietnam. Did you get a local license or just winged it? I have an Australian bike license but the information out there is conflicting.
What's the name of the villa you're staying in? Looks really beautiful and comfortable. Love the view from your window. Very picturesque! I'm very intrigued by Hoi An. Looking forward to more of your vlogs. 😃✌🏽
+Dream331 Thanks for watching and commenting! We're living in Hoi An for another 4 weeks or so, will have plenty more content to share from here (already have about 10 vlogs if you havent seen them?!). The place is called Mr Tho Garden Villas on Air BnB- if you do book, or book any accommodation actually you can get $40 USD off your stay if you sign up via our link which is pretty sweet. www.danegerandstacey.com/bnb will take you to Air BnB :)
Daneger and Stacey Thank you as well! 😃 I've been up all night watching. It's almost 4am here in LA.. Looking forward to checking out more and seeing your vlogs that I missed in Thailand. ✌🏽
+Dream331 That's awesome, but you gotta get some sleep man haha. No but seriously your view, like and comment is the stuff that keeps us going - so thank you! ✌🏽
I'm going to travel solo to Asia for the first time ! Do you have a recommendation for first time travel? Doubting between Vietnam & Thailand! Love to hear advice and why :)
Hey Rebecca - solo the answer is outright Vietnam, don't even question it. It's a long and thin country so travellers are either going North or going South, thats it. Its probably the best country ever to solo backpack... I know from first hand experience doing it alone about 7 years ago! Dane
If we were living in Chiang Mai, would Vietnam be a good place for a visa run...fly over, spend a week or two...or a month, and fly home ? Could you give me a ballpark of what that visa run would cost for a couple ? Thanks so much. Love your videos !
+Charles Moore Hey Charles - tricky one. Vietnam would be the place we say you should go, great food, cheap cost of living, nice locals, reasonable internet etc. But not sure it's the best place to come to apply for a Thai Visa. From CM you'd probably be better off going to Laos, which is what we did (we mention it a little in our Laos vlogs) partly because the visa process there is so ridiculously easy and it's cheap to get to Vientiane from CM - but you wouldn't want to spend more than a few days there. Otherwise, Penang/KL in Malaysia are probably your other best bets. If you're not applying for a visa though and will just go back in to Thailand on your 30 day exempt then Vietnam is a great choice and we would recommend flying to Da Nang but staying in Hoi An. We track our daily spending and post them on our vlogs, we did the same in CM, and estimate just like there we will spend about $1k-$1200 USD per month. Feel free to ask any more specifics you'd like to know?
Daneger and Stacey in that $1200/mo do you also have health insurance ? We will be 57 and 62 when we move, so we should probably have health insurance....at least some catastrophic coverage. Any suggestions ? Thx !
+Charles Moore That's a good point, we're fortunate with the NZ health system being pretty good so we prepaid our 12+ months of travel insurance before we left as enough cover - it's not included in that cost and would need to be on top!
Hey Leslie - it all comes down to balancing out the cost of an expensive holiday vs slow travel and getting local accomodation and transport long term, that brings costs down. Theres lots more that goes into it, and we work remotely and online to supplement. We'll be sharing everything in an upcoming resource book - www.danegerandstacey.com

+ConnollyCove Thanks for that, respect.
You guys should meet up with.. Pho your eyes only couple Brian and Caitlin.. They r living in Hanoi right now😅😀
I watch Brian and Caitlin's channel too. If Dane and Stacey end up going to Hanoi, would be crazy to see them all hang out, haha. Would be great.
+Kelly Thompson Oh cool, thanks for the heads up! If we head north I'll give them a shout and see what they're up to :)

Didn't get a licence, just used our IDP. Police presence back then was minimal, not sure how it is now sorry

How you can afford full time travel?
