I grew up hearing them on the alternative radio station in the 90s and had no idea who they were, but loved 'kiss off' a lot. They played 'blister in the sun' every year at the dance at summer camp. I had no idea they were an 80s band
These guys are such nice guys, and they’re fun as heck to watch live. I saw them live the day I turned 21, and they posed for photos with me, Brian signed a dollar bill for me, it was so awesome!
Growing up in Milwaukee I watched this show regularly as a kid and remember seeing the Femmes play on At Twelve. The show was live and the boys changed their lyrics to call our racist police chief Harold Breier a liar. Howard and Rosemary crapped their pants. Great TV
@@authorityblues the Blacks use the term “crackers” for white people still to this day. Asians, illegal Aliens and blacks are racist towards Whites both in music, rap, comedy, film and journalism
From Wiki: "They were discovered by James Honeyman-Scott (of the Pretenders) on August 23, 1981, when the band was busking on a street corner in front of the Oriental Theatre, the Milwaukee venue that The Pretenders would be playing later that night. Chrissie Hynde invited them to play a brief acoustic set after the opening act."
We were crazy about the band and that album freshman year of college university of northern iowa 1987. Id say they blew up at that point. Live in chicago but i never knew until today there is an east side of Milwaukee. Is it on the lake?
i remember dialing for dollars. violent femmes make me think of the replacements, only though , the replacements were a heck of alot better.femmes only had one good song..''american music''.rest were shit.

It's difficult to trust the opinion of someone who still uses term "the blacks"
Roger Clemons pretty sure you're full of shit.
@@authorityblues It's difficult to trust the opinion of someone who can't even quote someone correctly. He didn't say "the blacks", dumbass.

Discovered by the Pretenders? Wicked cool! I love them. I can see Chrissie and Honeyman definitely getting into the VF. Awesome trivia.
