I always thought this campaign was perhaps a very very early proto WoW with how it was designed and at first WoW was made in WC3 but that changed of course. But either way it was the idea this had i feel was how WoW came to be
I'm pretty sure WoW was already on the works at that point, since the release of Frozen Throne and WoW were only 1 year away. Also I always thought they included the forsaken campaign in the Frozen Throne to set the undead as a playable race separated from the Scourge.

It might be easy to say Jaina's pappy was right all along about the orcs but he never would have gotten killed if he hadn't attacked them unprovoked and tried to assassinate their warchief.
Seriously, WoW should of remained the world of Warcraft as it was named, while the story progressed with more RTS games. Telling a story is much much harder in an MMO and it really shows in WoW. In a RTS you don't have to worry about things like faction balance (from a writing standpoint), the player character, etc. and you can also create better villains as players will get attached to the characters they are playing. And in an RTS you can play as a villain. I bet if WC4 was a thing, and they had a Deathwing campaign, he would of been a much more loved villain in Cata, if Cata was even a thing still.

He doesn't like to keep himself to far from the wilds, and even if he has orkish blood in his veins, he doesn't represent the orcs or the other races of the horde. Even so... he is a great champion, and someone that would be good to have close for the next warchief. (I expect that the horde doesn't keep Sylvanas in power for to long, Baine or Saurfang should be the ones that lead the new horde. Or at least someone as wise as Thrall but with the ferocity and honor of Doomhammer)

It was a glimpse of the gameplay. Extremely early WoW builds actually looked closer to War3 than what we got on release.
