Another fantastic comedy show is “Bottom” with Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson. Classic stuff! Never fails to make me laugh and I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve watched them! The context of Father Ted is that its set on a small isolated island with a small community, hence why he was surprised about seeing Chinese people there. They best way to appreciate the show is to watch it from the beginning, its hilarious.
3 priests were put on Craggy Island out of the way. Father Ted for embezzlement, Father Dougal who was in the clip because he was utterly simple minded and Father Jack because he was in the final stages of alcoholism.
That's 100 true in small towns in America too. I bought a ranch, 8 miles out of town. The first day there. I walk into the hardware store to replace the door locks. I get this greeting upon entering. "OH you must be the lady that brought the old blank place. Tonya right? Hi, nice to meet yah. You won't need door locks here. No one locks their doors. Just make sure you stop at the gun store an introduce yourself. 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣. It was my next stop. The whole town knew my first name before I even moved in.
Dermot Morgan who played Ted was my favourite person in comedy. When he died suddenly in 1998, I was heartbroken. Please watch more of Father Ted. Brilliant comedy!
I'm from Costa Rica and I found out about this show about 2 years ago by chance here on RUclips. Since then I've watched it from beginning to end 3 times. It's perfect.

It was Him and his Girlfriend Cathy Davey who started the Charity 'My Lovely Horse'. I help run a Horse Sanctuary in Northern Ireland so we worked with them when they started it - really nice people! 🐴
I would highly recommend you watch Father Ted, surreal seriously funny comedy about 3 mad priests stuck on a small island. There are some parts even funnier.....
You really must watch ALL of Father Ted, it’s hilarious! The idea that Craggy Island has a Chinatown at all is crazy as it’s a tiny place. All 3 priests have been banished to the island for various failings, Father Dougal because he’s stupid, he doesn’t believe in Catholicism, and because of the “Blackrock Incident” which reportedly traumatised a number of nuns; Father Jack because he’s permanently drunk and lecherous; and Father Ted because money that was supposed to send a child to the shrine at Lourdes was found “just resting” in his bank account before he went to Las Vegas…. Also their boss, Bishop Len Brennan has fathered a child in the US (which reflects what actually happened with a Catholic Irish bishop back in the 80s!).

The most brilliant part of that clip is when the old guy at the fence says, "what's the official line of the church now? Are we meant to be racist now too?" It's funny, but also kind of how it works. So many people are just followers without thinking.
I was born in Ireland and lived there till 1973 when I was 11, the events of that time generated a lot of hate and racism between ourselves towards each other. I think it gives us Irish a unique take on the subject, at least those of us with an open mind!

In the actual show, he goes outside and actually confronts the family as they are trying to drive away. Then some more time passes before he has the conversation with the farmer. They cut it this video to look like the news spread instantly, which I think actually works better from a comedic standpoint. But it's not like that in the original episode.

Father Ted is brilliant. It's consistently voted as one of the best sitcoms ever along with Black Adder and Fawlty Towers. You really need to see the full episodes though. The premise of the series is that the catholic church has a history of sending unwanted priests to remote locations where they're less likely to be an embarrassment. In Ted's case he's sent to tiny Craggy Island after an unfortunate incident involving church funds found "resting in his account". Fortunately(?) he's not alone in his new parish and lives with Father Dougal, a child like idiot, Father Jack an angry, lecherous drunk and their housekeeper the tea obsessed Mrs Doyle.
MY WORLDS HAVE COLLIDED....FATHER TED AND MR. VIDEO. Couldn't be happier. Lmfao You have to watch the whole episode "Are You Right There Father Ted" More happens between those moments. You won't be able to breathe that episode is so funny.

This clip has been edited differently from the actual TV show. In the TV show, when Father Ted leaves the house he catches up with the Chinese family and tries to explain. Then he goes back to the house, then he leaves again which is when he talks to the farmer.

I remember watching this show many year's ago. Back when we had channel 02 to channel13!!!! Two of those were from Canada since we live right on the border, and they would play some BBC feed show's. I had forgotten all about this show. Thank you for this! Shit yah you have to do more, you Nit-Wit!!

Father Ted is brilliant. It's consistently voted as one of the best sitcoms ever along with Black Adder and Fawlty Towers. You really need to see the full episodes though.
The premise of the series is that the catholic church has a history of sending unwanted priests to remote locations where they're less likely to be an embarrassment. In Ted's case he's sent to tiny Craggy Island after an unfortunate incident involving church funds found "resting in his account".
Fortunately(?) he's not alone in his new parish and lives with Father Dougal, a child like idiot, Father Jack an angry, lecherous drunk and their housekeeper the tea obsessed Mrs Doyle.

In the TV show, when Father Ted leaves the house he catches up with the Chinese family and tries to explain. Then he goes back to the house, then he leaves again which is when he talks to the farmer.
I think I like this way better😂😂 it's older comedy you know like everybody knowing everyone's business and that saying. The only thing that travels faster than light is some juicy gossip 😋
